Chapter 176: Bad Memory

Chapter 176: Bad Memory

Seeing Owen, Miles and Henry here was a surprise enough but seeing Sarah? That was a wake to many things I was trying to avoid. How could she just stand there and say my name like we were friends and give me a smile? A smile that made my skin crawl and made uneasiness settle in and also a sense of insecurity for my safety. She almost killed me once with that fairy dust incident and she could do it again.

I stood frozen pondering what to do, the others were out of my vision and it was just Sarah which was a big mistake for me. Just when I thought I would have a breakdown I felt a hand on my waist and all that fear and anxiety washed away and all I could think of was the handsome werelion beside me, ensuring my security with just his presence.

Well except for that killing look he had directed on Sarah after he spoke a few words, she was frozen in her spot and I noticed she was shaking just from it, the air was tensed and I knew the others sensed it too, this meeting was getting replaced into something that might snap and I knew Dace he will snap.

Not until Owen talked and it seemed like the heavy mood died away and I was snapped back to the reality that I was on a date with Dace and not on a battlefield and we just coincidentally met them here.

"Y-You guys are here too" I followed in and it was as if by my words Dace calmed down giving me a breath of relief, I knew he was still agitated when he saw Sarah but at least it wasn’t as tense as before.

"We came for a movie," Miles said, he was trying to chip in too. "And you’re here, on?"

"A Date," Dace said this time, at least he spoke calmly, I think.

"Oooh," Henry said, giving me a smirk and I blushed. "Then what’s with the tensed air?" he added again and Owen shot him a look but he just rambled on, and trust him to do that, he was the same one all about bears not being naked. "We are blending thanks to Emma"

"Blending?" Miles said.

"Yeah, blending, I mean with all the Female stuff and what not... we should be acting in a less hateful form, we will be families in the future"

"Just shut up Henry" Owen and Miles said at the same time.

I heard Dace chuckle but it wasn’t heartfelt. "Funny..." he said, giving him an unpleasant look and Henry seemed to freeze up.

Okay, this was quickly getting up to how it was the first time, I should do something... so I tucked on Dace’s jacket from behind and he looked over at me. "Please let’s go" I mumbled, this was probably the best sense of action right now because talking in a friendly tone was a joke.

He leaned to my ears and I blushed because I knew they were watching.

"If you say so" he mumbled back to me before pecking my lips in a kiss.

I shyly moved my gaze to the company we had.

"Now if you will excuse us," Dace said to the cold air.

"S-See you around Emma," Miles said with a smile and I nodded.

"Hope we will be seeing you so-" Miles bumped Henry with his shoulder before he could say more.

"Right," He mumbled.

I settled my eyes on Owen. "Bye," I told him and all he did was force a smile.

"Bye," he said back to me.

Dace led me away and I exhaled, I did not expect to see them, that was really awkward.

"You okay? Dace asked me as we walked out of the building.

"Yeah I’m fine"

"Sure?"

I just nodded and forced a smile, he gave me a prolonged stare before shifting it ahead. I knew he noticed something was bothering me and it was nothing but the truth. There was this thought in my head, something I haven’t quite thought about until now...

Will we ever get along?

~

That question still flooded in my head until we got back to the mansion, I was pondering about it mostly because I knew I was torn between two Clans, I was a half-witch in a relationship with a werelion that caused some division and yet I chose both clans, was I hoping that both would merge? Would that ever happen?

I sighed, dropping the dryer I used on my wet air, my fingers tapping on the dresser and I stared at myself in the mirror, that was when my phone rang. It was Vanessa.

"Hey"

"Hey," I said with a smile.

"Still alive huh?"

I rolled my eyes. "Still alive Vanessa"

"That’s great to hear, just checking that’s all"

"And not worried?"

"I am, trust me, and it’s not like that’s gonna change anything. So tell me how was your date? You texted something like that to me, just curious"

I smiled at her words, she was doing a nosy mom habit on me.

"Well it was fun"

"That’s another great thing to hear, honestly"

"Like a normal boyfriend and girlfriend outing, I think"

"Ha, but you sound like something’s bothering you"

I will hand it to her for sensing that out.

"I saw Owen and the others"

"Oh"

"And Sarah"

"Oh" she repeated but it was a different kind of tone.

"Yeah... it was a mood killer"

"I’m so sorry about that"

"It’s not your fault, just an annoying coincidence... but it made me think of something"

"Think about what?"

I was quiet now... my head still swaying with words.

"Emma, what is it? You know you can talk to me right?"

"I know"

"Look I may have not been the leaning on type because of what happened before and I as-"

"It made me think if the Families can ever get along," I said quickly before she would continue.

"Oh"

I nodded which was stupid of me because I knew she can’t see me.

"That’s... that’s an intense topic"

It was... and for some reason, I can’t stop thinking about it.
