Chapter 168: You Don’t Smell Like Him
"HIS Female" I uttered with a stern look, although I was a nervous mess within me and slightly angry, I didn’t give in to it, I didn’t wanna give her the satisfaction that her words were hurting me.
She looked stunned now and also my words seemed to catch the attention of the other maids because they stopped whatever they were doing and listened in.
She huffed. Okay, that was unexpected.
"Just one nightstand, has you thinking you’re his female... You don’t smell like the young master so I suggest you leave" she said with a growl that made me jump and take a step backward, her eyes were glowing now, what was her deal?
"That’s enough!" A voice boomed and we twirled to Emilia with a stern look.
"Young miss" she quickly bowed along with the others and Emilia marched towards us. I was forced to gulp because the look she had on was not pleasant at all and it was directed at the maid.
She was breathtaking as always, as she walked gracefully I couldn’t help but admire her, a baggy blue sweater with shorts and net leggings, her Crocs echoing until she was finally in front of me.
"Your mouth is quite loud for a maid, do you want your tongue cut off?" she snapped and my blood ran cold because I had the feeling she meant every word.
"N-No young miss, f-forgive me I didn’t mean to sound rude, I caught her out of the young master’s suite so I asked her only to leave as quickly as possible"
"Shut it!"
"Emilia," I said behind hoping to calm her down but she was deaf to me.
"Your head will roll when Dace hears you bad-mouthing his female!"
Her eyes almost widened out of her socket now as well as the others, they came forth and started pleading for their friend.
"Leave," Emilia said with a smirk and they were thanking her next. "And you’re fired"
I froze.
"Out!"
They rushed out immediately.
"E-Emilia you shouldn’t have done that, it was too harsh"
She spun to me. "She was lucky she got away with just that... what do you think if it was Dace?"
I bit my bottom lip. "Look she was only doing her job and she didn’t know me" why exactly was I trying to defend the rude maid? Well because I didn’t want to be the reason she lost her job!
She ticks her tongue. "Forget it"
I sighed knowing she wasn’t gonna let this go.
"Thought I smelt something different" she mused next.
I smiled before I did the unthinkable, I hugged her, and I noticed her body tenses.
"Okay this is awkward"
"S-Sorry I just thought I won’t see you again" I pulled away and I noticed a cocky smile on her lips.
"Hope you didn’t miss me too much"
"Well you were the one who hung up on me last, drunk"
She rubbed her neck. "Shit happens" she shrugged. "What are you doing here when you should be fucking my brother"
"Emilia," I said with wide eyes.
"What? You’re his Female, it happens, makes it easier for cubs"
I blushed so hard that I was almost the temperature of a boiling kettle, I have forgotten how blunt Emilia can be. Should I remind her that I’m only 17 and I haven’t even thought about that yet? I shuddered.
"Wait" she sniffs the air around me. "Why on earth do you not smell like him? I thought the screaming last night was the game"
Okay, I might pass out now but wait...
"H-How do you know we haven’t..." I bit my lip.
"Haven’t fucked yet?" she sighed. "Well you would have his scent mixed with yours that’s how it works"
That was what the maid meant when she said I didn’t smell like him, they could have known too?
"What are you doing here?"
"Um, I’m hungry" my stomach growled in response and she leveled my gaze at it.
"Well I can see that, follow me" she led me out of the lobby.
"I was both shocked and relieved when I heard the news," she began.
"News?"
"Yeah about the mark"
"Oh"
"Believe me I feel like the bad person now, I have always told him not to lead you on when his Female is out there"
"That was what you were talking about that day"
We both descended the stairs.
"Yep," she said, and then she exhaled. "Guess it all worked for the best" she flashed me a small smile and I blushed.
"I’m still trying to process"
"Yes, of course, if you were one of us there won’t be much to process"
"You told me that day that they have never been a mix of bloodlines"
"Yes... but you’re an exception" She faced me. "And the first"
I didn’t know what to think about it because it still bugged me, Dace’s Dad did say times were changing that’s why it happened, right?
"My parents don’t wanna dwell on it either, the mark is enough proof, end of the story, don’t think too much about it"
"But I wanna understand it"
"Hmm always the detective"
We finally got to the kitchen and my eyes almost widened out of my socket, just like how the dining was on the last floor. So was the kitchen and it was super big, very modern, and spotless white with a touch of slight gold, like the tables and some appliance.
"What will you eat?" Emilia said, walking to the counter. "Scam," she told the chef I finally noticed. He bowed before leaving.
"Um," I trailed taking my seat at the center where the table was with six chairs, three on both sides.
"Well?" She spun to me.
"As long as it’s not meat?"
"Figure" she opened the cupboard. "Oh look here there’s eggs"
That was a miracle.
She faced me like she was waiting for my suggestion and I smiled. "As long as you don’t turn the egg to meat"
"You read my mind"
