BLOOD LEGACIES -
Chapter 150: Fixation
Chapter 150: Fixation
OWEN
~
Why the fuck did I lie? I have no idea, maybe because of the fact that the first name she murmured when she woke up was DACE. That beast. She had no idea how worried I was after what happened, she would have died because of that simple spell. Emma was part human and that part of her can’t contain the magic, she wasn’t like us, Purebloods.
Her phone rang again, and I moved my eyes to it seeing Dace, I boiled again and I could no longer resist the urge not to pick and so I did.
"Emma" his tone was raspy almost like he couldn’t wait to hear her voice.
"What do you want Dace?!" I demanded and there was a pause. "What can’t talk now?"
"What are you doing with her phone?" he asked in a lifeless deathly tone that sent shivers down my spine, it reminded me of that murderous look he gave me back that day, I could see it in his eyes, the strong urge to kill me, but I stood my ground, he may be a Werelion but I was a warlock.
"She’s busy at the moment so she can’t speak with you right now"
"Put her on the phone"
"Why do you keep interfering with her life huh?" I began feeling furious again, he thinks he can just walk into her life whenever he wants, he thinks he could just have her because he’s a Devereaux heir, he thinks he’s so perfect that she won’t look away, well that was all wrong, feelings change, and I will prove to Emma that I’m far better than a beast she claims to like.
"Emma is part of us, part of our clan and you should know better, she’s happy here, don’t take that away from her!" I ended the call before switching her phone off. He should give up, he can no longer have Emma, she belongs with us, and their relationship is over. Whenever they were together danger followed and the last thing I wanted was that... I wanted Emma to be safe no matter what and she was safer here, with me.
I walked straight to my dad’s office which I knew quite well Vanessa was in, there was something urgent they needed to know. I walked through the doors and their attention drifted to me.
"Owen" Vanessa rose to her feet the moment she saw me. "Emma?"
I gave her a reassuring smile. "She just woke up, she’s fine nothing serious"
"Oh thank God," she said with a breath of relief.
"What did you find out son?"
I faced my dad. "She did cast the spell but it was too strong for her to handle"
"Well, how was that possible? The professor present there said she could not move the cup at a time"
"It’s her glasses" At my words, their eyes widened in realization like a puzzle was finally placed in an unanswered question.
"Of course," Vanessa said, running her finger through her hair. "I should have known... a repellent to magic was just right before her eyes..."
"Aside from that, we should be concerned by the simple spell that almost brought the class down" my dad caught our attention once again. "The concern of how a simple spell turned into a powerful one"
Silence broad over us after that, I knew this would come into discussion, I knew it all, Emma was a strange witch, a half-witch with powers we don’t quite understand. She was able to weaken the barrier two times without her witch blood being awakened, her presence caused my magic to be somewhat more powerful, almost like she fuels the inside of me. She had her Cycle at age 17 which should have been at the age of 5. So many things.
"You know this dad" I began finally breaking the silence and he locked gazes with me. "Emma is a half-witch, a mix of human and witch blood we have never encountered before"
He narrowed his eyes at my words. "But you think it might be something more"
"Maybe... but we have to keep a close eye on her, teach her so that she won’t be afraid of what she is"
"He’s right" Vanessa intoned and my dad sighed heavily and he gave a nod.
Suddenly his phone rang and he grabbed it off his table when he saw the caller he paused.
"What? Who is it?" Vanessa sensed that something was wrong and I did too.
"It Elias"
Why is he calling?
He answered the call. "Elias" he began walking around the table. "It’s rare I get a call from you, Elias, what’s the occasion?"
There was a slight pause next, I figured Elias was speaking now and my dad’s face didn’t look pleased. What the fuck do the werelions want now? They have been involving themselves too much in the past months, they are making the families uptight in their homes, if it wasn’t for their blood oath, who knows what could have happened?
"Thank you Owen" I faced Vanessa at her words, and she gave me a warm smile. "For looking after Emma"
"I smiled. "You don’t need to thank me, Vanessa, we both want the best for her"
She nods, I could tell how stressed she looks, all this was taking a toll on her, she must have been so worried.
"I’m glad it’s you, Owen," she said in a faint tone but I heard her. "Be there for her always... I couldn’t ask for more"
"Of course" because she doesn’t need to say it, Emma awoke something in me, I have always locked my affections because of the way I lived, but Emma awakened them all. I lived my life solely on doing what I had to but there were several things I had to do when it came to Emma, she was the reason I got to meet my mom for the first time and say my goodbyes.
The moment the call ended we faced him, he gave us an unreadable expression and I sensed something was wrong.
"Elias calls for a meeting"
"For what?" I demanded, the werelions never attend meetings, to begin with, and not even call one, so what now?
"He didn’t say... but it sounds urgent"
