BLOOD LEGACIES -
Chapter 127: Vision
Chapter 127: Vision
"There"
I felt the new bandage around my neck, before clearing my throat.
"How do you feel?"
I nodded my head and she smiled, her smile always seemed to make me feel at ease, maybe it was because I got that motherly vibe from her. Her soothing words and smile filled my senses, I wasn’t shaking anymore, even though we just had that talk.
"I heard your aunt will be coming today"
"Yeah"
"I’m sure she will be happy to see that you’re okay, you know she only came here once," she chuckled, shaking her head. "Dace was overprotective and wouldn’t let anyone disturb you" she mused and her eyes highlighted from that action, they really reminded me of Dace.
I blushed.
"Camille?"
"Yes?"
"There’s something I wanna ask"
"Yes? What is it?"
"I mean you’re a doctor and all, so I need to know..." I chewed at the inside of my mouth, this was really bugging me. "Do visions come like a switch? I have had really bad eyesight since I was little and was told by the doctors that I will end up using glasses for the rest of my life. But I’m beginning to doubt that"
She narrowed her eyes at me
"What makes you say that?" curiosity flushed her features.
"Because when I woke up for a minute there I could see"
"It could probably be because you were sleep induced, the drip might have had some aftereffects,"
I nodded, judging from her answer that shouldn’t happen except because of my treatment.
"Why do I have the feeling you don’t think that’s it"
I leveled my gaze. Yes, that didn’t fit the criteria for me because I knew myself, I knew my eyes, whatever was going on right now was not supposed to happen, my eyesight can’t just magically come back, right? And then I thought back to the dream I had.
"Emma" I raised my gaze and found Dace at the door. "Your aunt’s here"
~
"Oh, Emma!" She engulfed me in a hug the moment she laid her eyes on me and I almost stumbled but I hugged her back just as tightly.
"Vanessa," I said with a smile on my eyes, tears almost breaking free, it felt really good to see her.
"Look at you" she trailed her eyes on my body. I could see the tears threatening to fall. "You look so much better than I last saw you"
She led me to a seat on the couch and we both settled on it.
"How are you? Owen?" I asked worriedly because I remembered the last time I saw him he was badly wounded and fighting a vampire so that I could run.
"I’m fine, we’re all fine, something like that can’t take down a Sherman"
I sighed in relief. I was glad he was okay. I would have just asked Dace to ease my worries but I wasn’t so sure that was a good idea, I shivered remembering my punishment, and I bit my lip.
"There were bodies"
A chill ran through.
"We suffered some casualties" She nods. "But nothing we can’t handle" I knew she was trying to sound strong. "Juneau is strong, the families have it under control and the barrier will be back as good as new" she trembled and I grip her hand tightly.
"I was so scared,’’ she rubbed my hands. "When I heard the news, I heard from Owen that Dace took you, it took days before I could let him see you"
"He’s just being protective"
She held my hand tightly. "You can’t imagine how happy I’m to see you that you’re okay" her eyes fell on my bandage and the tears fell, I leveled my gaze.
"The vampire bit me"
"I-I know" she sobbed wiping her tears with her thumb, my heart breaks to see her like this, I couldn’t imagine how worried she must have been,
"Emma, this is why I don’t want you to stay here..." she sighed. "Thank god your mom hasn’t quite called because of work, I don’t know what to tell her and-"
"She can’t know Vanessa"
"I know," she nods. "The barrier still needs work and I can’t believe I’m saying this but I think you’re safer here with the werelions, the other families think so too"
I nodded.
"One more thing"
I raised my gaze.
"It’s about the barrier"
I narrowed my eyes.
"W-What about it?"
"Look this is still being talked about but in what we have gathered more like from Owen"
"And?" I urged. The curiosity was killing me.
"The first time the vampire attacked you you were close to the edge and then the second..."
I paused with confusion flushing against my features but then my eyes widened in realization. "The second time at Owen’s place, t-the garden he said that place was closer to the edge of the barrier"
She nodded.
"W-Wait... do you think I’m the one causing it?"
"Like I said there’s no concrete proof yet and it’s highly impossible but Owen seems to wanna prove this theory" she paused. "He told me about what happened with his mom"
I gulped.
"Emma, you do not have witch blood, having a connection with the dead is impossible, I have only known the Juneau’s to do that"
Impossible, everything that happened around me was that single word, first the barrier and then the vampire being allured to me just like the one that bit me.
"D-Do you think something is wrong with me, Vanessa?"
"No darling of course not!" she snapped. "I’m sure there might be some sort of um-"
"Vanessa" I shook my head slowly and she sighed deeply.
"There is something I need to tell you"
"What is it?"
"I had a dream, I figure I should tell you because..."
"Because what? Another nightmare?" worry flushed her features.
"No no, not a nightmare, this was..." I sighed shakily. "I don’t how I can explain, It’s confusing"
She nods. "I can relive it"
"Relive it?"
"Yes like a spell to see the last dream you had"
"Is that possible?"
She smirked. "Emma, your aunt is a witch, anything is possible when it comes to spells"
