Chapter 101: Charmed

OWEN

~

I was trying to find an answer, or something to understand, because I was lost here, VERY. All I could do was focus my reading eyes on Emma as she watched the plant outgrow, what the hell is going on? I knew for certain I cast the spell, but this looks beyond me, beyond my capability, I was still learning and I knew this progress was not something that could happen overnight.

I leveled my gaze to our hands still locked together and I could feel it, the amount of power surging through me, It was just like that day, the first day I laid my eyes on Emma, the feeling I felt like my magic was at my fingertips and bizarre within me, it was happening right now, even when I chanted the spell.

When I first started it, it was the usual result, spells were like a command and I knew my command wasn’t merging with what I wanted, it wasn’t responding, you chant a command and it responds, that’s how it works, and more you focus the more fatigue you get for spells that are difficult.

But not until Emma held my hand, it was an unexpected gesture, and my body stiff as well as my magic, I knew it was solely because I was attracted to her in some way, I knew that gesture of hers was simply her way of motivating me, no matter how elated I felt by it, I felt my insides swell and the moment she uttered ’Try again" I felt the need to which I did.

I felt the command didn’t work but surprisingly enough it worked in a very questioning way because I knew this wasn’t only my doing, but what? I don’t feel any magic from her... then how? How was she able to trigger my powers to become more...

"W-W-Why are you looking at me like that?"

At her question, I was brought back from my thoughts and realized how long I have been staring, I must have made her uncomfortable, just look at the discreet eyes she was giving me now, dammit! But I couldn’t move, I didn’t want to, this power within me bewitched me, I didn’t want the contact to end, it was so tempting like something was calling for me but I didn’t know what, all I knew was I wanted to be conjured on that call and let it swallow me, I wanted her to deplete me.

She snapped her hand away and I was brought back from the small daydreaming I was in.

"Sorry, I should have..." I began not knowing what to say, I should have responded when I had the chance but I didn’t know what came over me.

"I-I-Its okay" she spoke in her tiny voice and it made my body peak, it is always wonderful to hear and smooch.

"You scared me with that look you gave me"

"I know and I’m sorry, I was... just... shocked" That wasn’t it, of course, I was still suspicious, suspicious of my contact with Emma.

She gave a nod before facing the plant. "It stopped growing"

I observed it too. "Yeah," I said with capped eyes.

"Maybe you enchant too much or something"

"Yeah" Except that wasn’t the case, I had a feeling, a feeling that Emma had a hand in this and I will find out how.

"Wanna get out of here? You look uncomfortable"

"Y-Yeah sure and I do need something to drink" she forced a smile and I nodded.

"Come on" I guided her out of the garden but still training my eyes on the small art built there, whoever finds that out will probably scream, this was far abnormal.

I settled my eyes back to Emma and looked at her, all tiny and narrowly dazed and yet she was inviting and could call anything in her path. She must think she’s invisible but she’s far from that, her presence was something quite bewitching, you get the first impression that you wanna understand this little piece.

"Your home’s beautiful Owen" she spoke facing me with a smile and I returned it.

"I’m glad you like it, which means my tour is going well", I wanted her to get out of the house, I knew she was feeling down because the Devereaux will no longer attend our school, and I wanted to cheer her up, she was better without them.

I ushered her to another building away from the previous one we were in.

"Another building?"

"Yeah that was just the night classes hall, I wanted you to see it"

I watched as she studied the new building with her green orbs, they were quite a unique color.

"This is actually my home," I said to the mini manor we were now approaching, the same texture as the other building, this was my family home and I wanted her to see it, I wanted her to know everything about me.

I led her inside and she was welcomed to a 80s Victorian interior display.

"Yeah I know, the house’s old"

"I didn’t say that," She said with an innocent look.

"But you were thinking it," I said, leading her to the living room, and on our way she punched my back. It was like a greasy touch, but I did smile at her attempts. I loved that she was becoming gratis with me.

"I will get you something, juice or..."

"Just water," she said observing the house she seemed captivated.

"Okay" I walked to our fridge and grabbed a bottle before walking back and found her staring at the pictures hung on the wall.

"That is my great grandma" I pointed to one of them but she seemed focused on a particular one on the shelves.

I narrowed my eyes when she grabbed one.

"Emma?"

There was no response from her as she took the framed photo with both hands.

"Emma"

She finally faced me and I saw fear and confusion in her eyes, she turned the picture to me and I felt a tight pain in my chest but all that washed away when she said words I could hardly believe.

"I know this woman"
