Blind Spot
Chapter 509 - 466th Air Combat Squadron 4

Chapter 509: 466th Air Combat Squadron 4

It was as if others had only some minor issues, yet the Floral Fusion Heart forcibly merged them into serious mental illnesses.

An example could also be skin diseases.

What were merely acne, were forcefully synthesized into skin cancer...

After evolving the Flower Language Technique once more, Rainbow Candy felt increasingly horrified by this capability.

"I oppose the motion to pass this proposal by vote," casting aside her thoughts, Rainbow Candy looked up at Saruman.

"The power of the Void Council should not be overly biased toward any particular political collective. That is the very principle upon which the entire council was founded," she said in a grave voice.

"We have no inclination to interfere in politics. Handling the Garden of Fate is purely to maintain world balance. Here we have evidence gathered by everyone, which can prove that your existence, your actions, have significantly impacted the frequency of Blind Spots emerging worldwide," Saruman said indifferently.

"No need to waste words with her for intruding on the meeting uninvited, cut off the signal," stated one of the council members coldly.

"Fine, then I have a question," Rainbow Candy ignored the man and stared solely at Saruman.

"Go ahead," Saruman showed good manners, smiling and pretending to listen.

"My question is, how do you determine what the world’s balance should look like when it is balanced?" Rainbow Candy raised her voice.

"The world lies there; when balanced, it stabilizes; when unbalanced, it heads toward destruction. If you stand high enough, you can see that," Saruman answered.

"So, is that the balance you see?" Rainbow Candy’s voice grew colder.

"Correct."

"It’s what you think is balanced?"

"... you may think so. The world should indeed be decided and led by the top elite. And here, everyone present fits that description," Saruman smiled.

"The commoners follow; the elite lead. Since ancient times, it has been without exception," a council member said coldly.

"Can I consider myself elite since I was able to infiltrate your meeting?" Rainbow Candy retorted.

"..." Saruman frowned, already guessing what she was about to say.

"Then, as elites, who will make the decision!?" Rainbow Candy stared down Saruman and then shifted her gaze, sweeping it over all the council members present.

"Us? Or you?" she asked.

"Elites are relatively classified; naturally, the stronger elites lead everything within their respective groups," a woman replied.

"So... what if we reclassify here and now?" Rainbow Candy’s gaze sharpened, returning to Saruman.

"Who is elite? Who is... a commoner?"

Saruman watched her, falling silent for a time.

After a while, council members started to show signs of restlessness, secretly beginning to exchange information; three council members who supported Rainbow Candy raised their hands.

"This is neither a rational confrontation nor a fair one. I withdraw from this meeting and await the results."

"Agreed."

"I concur."

The three nodded slightly towards Rainbow Candy and suddenly disappeared from the spot, exiting the meeting.

The remaining person who abstained fell silent for a moment and then vanished as well.

That left five people, those who followed Saruman, still present.

"Let’s have a battle then. Just you and me, between the two of us, elites leading the world. According to your theory, you should be the strongest among us," Rainbow Candy said coldly.

Saruman smiled again.

"Interesting."

He stood up, looking down from a superior position, overlooking Rainbow Candy’s petite figure.

"It has been over a hundred years since someone dared to challenge me... I admire your courage. But the stakes between you and me are not equal, so I will not accept your challenge," he said.

He stepped down, standing in front of Rainbow Candy.

"But... in one hour, I will commence a full purification of the Garden of Fate."

He extended his hand, and with a light tap, a black screen materialized in the air between them, with a red digital timer counting down from 59:59.

"If you can, come and stop me."

He pushed the timer screen forward.

Boom!

The screen exploded, turning into countless red dots that fell on Rainbow Candy, trying to forcibly push her out of the Void Council Chamber.

But a colorful protective screen simultaneously appeared, shielding Rainbow Candy.

Red and multicolored lights intertwined in a rapid crossfire, clashing against each other.

Massive data streams, like numerous poisoned darts, flew fiercely towards the opponent, while both sides also rapidly and accurately neutralized incoming deadly data streams.

Saruman’s strength lay in his impenetrable defenses and his brain’s fast computational and fusion powers.

Rainbow Candy’s strength was in creating flaws even where there were none, and with the augmentation of the Flower Language Technique, her offensive capabilities were unparalleled.

Her defensive capabilities, however, were somewhat weaker.

The moment the two engaged, they sensed each other’s strengths and weaknesses.

As offense and defense alternated constantly, the battle had just begun and this invisible war to challenge the world’s strongest had already reached a fever pitch.

Yi Country, Andu.

On the platinum main avenue of the Imperial Palace, Emperor Yi stepped forward and embraced Li Chengyi gently.

"A spectacular battle, a precise decapitation—I have already seen the recording. Truly worthy of being one of the Earth-Moon’s strongest ten," Emperor Yi said earnestly.

"I apologize, Your Majesty, but due to the Blind Spot, I am unable to stay at the fortress and must return to prepare for the next Blind Spot," Li Chengyi sighed.

"The matter with the Shadow Eater... We owe much to Lord Li’s Herculean efforts. If it were not so, a catastrophe would have likely occurred. Dongjun can indeed be sometimes inconsiderate, after all, having to bear the whole Empire’s war situation, the pressure is immense. I hope you can be more understanding," Emperor Yi said with an apologetic look.

"Your Majesty should say this to that elderly gentleman instead, after all, we are constantly living on the edge of life and death, and who knows when we might die in the Blind Spot; even so, we are still willing to take time to participate in the national war..." Li Chengyi said in a deep voice.

"I understand what you’re saying," Emperor Yi sighed.

"Let’s not talk about this for now. I have come to inquire about something else. Your Majesty, are you aware of the matter regarding Yuan Ying?" Li Chengyi asked, the person who seemed like Lien lingering in his mind. Lien was related to the clues to the Eternal Wishing Book; now that the difficulty of the Blind Spots was increasingly challenging, the matter of Yuan Ying became particularly important.

"Yuan Ying..." Emperor Yi walked to one side of the main avenue of the Imperial Palace, to the edge of Taiyi Palace.

Standing there, one could overlook a quarter of Andu’s scenery.

The clouds drifted by, schools of Flying Yi and flying vehicles came and went tirelessly, passing through layers of security force fields, a bustling scene indeed.

"Yuan Ying is a huge force from outer space," Emperor Yi sighed.

He turned his head to look back at Li Chengyi.

"In fact, the United Front of many years ago, and now the Moral Ethics Committee, as well as Earth-Moon and White Star, may all have their people scattered about."

"Yuan Ying’s purpose... When I previously encountered their people, it seemed they considered maintaining the balance of the world their duty," Li Chengyi frowned.

"Yes, they are a group of very mysterious people and also a group of immortals," Emperor Yi said.

"Immortals?"

"Yes... immortals." A hint of remembrance flickered in Emperor Yi’s eyes.

"It is said that Yuan Ying has existed since the ancient times of yore. Back then, it was discovered that some individuals in the world naturally grew stronger as the world changed. But such strength does not come without a price."

"The price is that their minds become increasingly lost as they grow stronger until they turn into complete monsters, eternally residing in certain fixed places."

"Their minds, as if transformed into the foundation of their strength, where the more resolute and powerful the will, the higher the upper limit of strength after the transformation."

"These people are what we call the precursors to Yuan Ying."

Emperor Yi explained slowly.

He looked at Li Chengyi, who was listening attentively, and continued.

"In fact, our world also has its boundaries, did you know that?"

"...Boundaries?" Li Chengyi shook his head. At this moment, he faintly felt that he was beginning to touch upon the deepest secrets of the Blind Spot.

"Yes. That seemingly limitless expanse of stars actually has its limits, limits that are solely ours. The boundaries of cognition..." sighed Emperor Yi.

"The boundaries of cognition?" Li Chengyi’s mind suddenly flashed, as if he had realized something.

He recalled the different-sized Blind Spots in the Black Sea...

The Black Sea was beyond cognition, yet within the Blind Spots, information that could be cognized existed.

In that case, could it be possible that the size of those Blind Spots is determined by the limit of cognition within them?

This thought zipped through his mind like lightning.

Cognition has its limits.

This he understood quite early; even the seemingly powerful modern science had its boundaries and its limits.

The edge of what modern instruments could explore was the boundary of human sensory perception.

That was the boundary of cognition.

And if the size of the Blind Spots in the Black Sea really worked like this...

Li Chengyi felt he had made a tremendous discovery but realized at the same moment that this discovery seemed of little use to him.

His goal was to escape the entanglements of the Blind Spot, and it was tough to connect the two. This awkward feeling was somewhat distressing.

Emperor Yi was still continuing.

"Actually, I have wanted to have a talk with you for a long time now. Mingyuan Group is after all one of Yi Country’s pillars; if you could rid yourselves of the Blind Spot, it would be a great thing for our entire nation."

"Be careful with Yuan Ying. The recent reports from the Blind Spot Research Department indicate that Mingyuan’s interventions have led to significant changes in the Blind Spots. The number of small Blind Spots has decreased, and the number of large Blind Spots has increased, as has the mortality rate upon entering them. It’s not unlikely that Yuan Ying is behind all this," said Emperor Yi.

"Does Your Majesty know about the Eternal Wishing Book?" Li Chengyi asked directly.

"The one from the Yunshan Blind Spot? Of course, I’m aware of it—a special tome left by the Lan Meng Mountain Master," Emperor Yi nodded.

Hearing this, Li Chengyi knew that he was not aware—what Lan Meng Mountain Master left was just a decoy; the real Eternal Wishing Book was still unaccounted for.

A mere imitation granted each member of their team two Crescent Moons for salvation—should the genuine article be found, perhaps they could truly escape the Blind Spot.

"Let’s not discuss this now. Over at the Blind Spot Research Department, there are some secret documents pertaining to Blind Spot experiments—if you’re interested, perhaps you could take a look," he suggested.

"Are they related to the Eternal Wishing Book?" Li Chengyi asked.

"No, they primarily comprise remnants of the United Front’s experimental data, many of which include information on accidentally opened fixed Blind Spots. They also contain various methods for avoiding Blind Spot dead-ends. There are said to be successful cases," said Emperor Yi.

Fixed Blind Spot channels!?

In an instant, Li Chengyi’s eyes lit up, and he thought of Midlane.

He had long suspected that Earth-Moon had had contact with Midlane—otherwise, why would the Flower Language Technique have clear relevance?
