Chapter 260: Game 242 Situation 2
Chapter 260: Game 242 Situation 2
Decisive in the blink of an eye, Agasha’s hand swung out, drawing his blade to strike the other, his arm, augmented by the exoskeleton, exploding with terrifying power.
But before he could react, his own dagger was seized and aimed at his throat.
In a desperate move, Agasha’s exoskeleton powered up simultaneously, bursting forth with even greater strength to wrench it back.
The petite body of Rainbow Candy was suddenly shrouded in a silvery Fantasia Floral Armor, closing in for the attack.
In just two short seconds, the pair unleashed a barrage of dizzyingly fast close-quarters combat.
The surrounding soldiers couldn’t even aim, only seeing the two blur into one, constantly shifting positions.
Both were clearly masters of hand-to-hand combat techniques, but Rainbow Candy was far superior in speed and strength.
However, for the sake of lightness and speed, Agasha’s overall qualities were far inferior; he could only compensate with combat experience and techniques.
Five seconds later.
Bang!
Agasha was kicked squarely in the chest, stumbling three steps backward, and before he could catch his breath, a sharp dagger was already at his throat.
Rainbow Candy was somehow already behind him, knife in one hand and grasping his neck with the other.
Gulping.
He swallowed involuntarily. Any struggle would immediately result in the blade cutting through his throat’s skin, oozing out threads of fresh blood.
"Kill me! Kill me and all of you will have to be buried with me! Hehe..."
It was clear he truly wasn’t afraid of dying.
Probably because of this trait, he was assigned to deal with the Blind Spot Individuals, people similarly on the brink of death.
Rainbow Candy hesitated noticeably.
She had never encountered someone like this, this kind of madman. Of course, she didn’t want to die, yet killing this man here would make all of their public identities in the entirety of Sultan subjected to a nation-wide manhunt.
This place wasn’t like any other; this was Sultan National Airport, with surveillance and live broadcast security systems everywhere.
Hiding was impossible.
In other words, if they struck here, they would instantly become nation-wide criminals in the whole of Sultan.
The very thought of confronting the power of an entire nation would give anyone pause.
"What’s the matter? Aren’t you guys full of yourselves? Kill me! Kill me!" Agasha’s expression turned increasingly maniacal.
"That’s enough, Tang Tang," Li Chengyi suddenly extended his hand at this moment, gently touching the blade and turning it away.
"We’re just having a little fun with Major Agasha. The luggage and all, they’re just minor issues. The bomb was just a joke with everyone."
He appeared sincere and gentle.
At the same time, he pointed at a suitcase far away.
Pfft.
At that moment, the countdown suitcase suddenly broke apart, splitting into several pieces.
Inside, a pink big bunny toy popped out.
The bunny, dressed in a pink suit and wearing a top hat and carrying a flower in one hand, bowed slightly to the audience, much like a human magician.
Whew...
The soldiers around them exhaled in relief.
"You guys..." Agasha’s expression suddenly darkened as he stared intently at Li Chengyi, who now appeared gentle. Faint communication sounds were coming from his earpiece.
His subordinate’s reply confirmed it; while he was clashing with the other’s member, the suitcase had already been quietly exchanged and taken away.
"Is the inspection over now? Can you let us go?" Li Chengyi looked at Agasha.
"...."
Agasha felt incredibly frustrated.
But the other side’s actions were very clear, even verging on outright declaration.
The face-to-face suppression in the fight was to show that in case of a conflict, they could quickly overpower him.
The bomb in the suitcase was a warning that, should they tear each other apart, everyone at the scene would die—that high-yield reaction couldn’t be faked.
The swapped suitcase further indicated that there were their people inside the government’s military.
Lastly, the gentle query was telling him:
The luggage was already taken; if you keep causing trouble without reason... maybe the surrounding soldiers also wouldn’t want to follow orders...
Such a large suitcase being exchanged right before so many eyes, what did that imply?
Agasha knew very well.
"Release them!" he ground his teeth, his gaze fixed intently on Li Chengyi and the others.
The soldiers who had been obstructing them quickly relaxed and dispersed.
"Tch," Rainbow Candy glanced at him scornfully and strode away.
The Dragon Gate Crane followed closely and tensely behind her; this was his first taste of the dangerous atmosphere of the front lines.
Just arriving in Sultan and already playing big, he was so scared his heart rate was still over 120.
"Major Agasha," Li Chengyi patted his shoulder as he made to leave at last.
"I’ve always admired you, an officer who doesn’t fear threats or death," Li Chengyi said. "But You’ve seen it yourself, the environment here in Sultan: there’s a lack of unity both inside and out. Even if you’re brave, many things are mentally and physically draining, with no end in sight,"
"What are you trying to say!?" Agasha snapped harshly.
"You’re a talented individual," Li Chengyi said earnestly. "To be able to grapple with my men using such rudimentary exoskeletons and still fight fiercely without fear of death... A warrior like you shouldn’t be sacrificed pointlessly in a place of no significance."
He sighed, pulled out a business card, and slipped it into the front pocket of Agasha’s chest.
"No matter who sent you. This mission should be enough to repay your debt to him. If you ever need it, you can contact me."
Li Chengyi patted Agasha’s shoulder once more before walking toward the exit of the airport.
Qiong An and her entourage from the Rainbow Candy Gang gathered around him, boarding the small aircraft waiting outside under everyone’s watchful eyes.
Inside the airport.
Lei Shan of Northern Shore Star stared intently in the direction of the departing aircraft, his gaze solemn.
"This man... is very impressive!"
"Indeed, he avoided a direct confrontation with the officials and divided them from within. What’s more troubling is that they have contacts within Sultan as well. Had not Agasha been so impulsive and death-defying, they wouldn’t have needed to stir such a scene; they could have left the airport quietly and unnoticed," another man with glasses analyzed.
"Dulien Family... That’s a very dominant Great Noble surname in Sultan... It looks like a powerful guest has crossed the river into our land!" Lei Shan said gravely.
"You’re all so serious, was that guy really that exaggerated?" the last woman said with some disbelief.
"You don’t understand, the recent events tested our ability to adapt on-spot. And from beginning to end, that captain from the Garden of Fate Team didn’t show any emotion. What does that tell you?" the man with glasses said. "It means that the entire situation was either entirely within his control from the start... Or all of us present posed no threat to him."
"!!" The woman shuddered slightly, immediately grasping his meaning.
Elsewhere.
The mood was also heavy among the Sea Wolves.
Alisa, carrying her freshly packed suitcase, walked out of the airport lobby still thinking about the recent conflict.
"Do you guys think the bomb in that suitcase was real?" she suddenly asked.
"Real," the young man with black hair, the team’s deputy Wang, replied gravely.
"Real!?" Alisa and the others were shocked. "Weren’t they afraid of blowing themselves up?!"
"That’s why they were gambling with their lives," Wang said in a low voice. "Agasha wasn’t afraid to die, and neither were those three... No... It’s not that they weren’t afraid, they must have had a way to deal with the bomb. They believed they wouldn’t die!"
"Wang is an expert in microexpressions; he’s right," an older, tall woman in the team said.
"Then why did the Sultan officials let them go in the end?" Alisa didn’t understand.
"Because their suitcase had been switched and sent away by someone else," Wang answered.
"That means there are allies of those three among the Sultan soldiers present. It was this realization that shook Agasha. Plus, he couldn’t beat one of the opponents in a fight with his bare hands. So without evidence, he had no choice but to let them go. He couldn’t justify detaining foreign Common tourists without cause."
"Wow... But seeing that Agasha getting put in his place was really damn satisfying..." Alisa couldn’t help praising. "If we run into that Garden of Fate Team again, we must buy them a drink."
"Better not; that kind of person either thinks too much or is too strong. If you come across him, you’ll be cleaned out and still help count the money," Wang shook his head.
"Bullshit! You think I’m a pushover? If I meet them, you’ll see I won’t be outdone! After all, I am the leader of the ninth largest team in the White Star Stormy Sea!" Alisa shot back defiantly.
"Three years ago, we were the fifth largest..." someone sighed on the side.
"Who?! Who’s talking?!" Alisa’s face instantly flushed red.
* * *
The golden desert undulated like waves, rippled by the howling wind.
"Chief... I’m sorry, we were not strong enough... The situation in Sultan is very bad right now. My influence within the family is extremely limited... After more than ten years of absence, all my old people have turned to other branches..."
Inside the spacious aircraft.
Qiong An bowed her head to apologize to Li Chengyi.
"Which side is Agasha on? Why did he target a Blind Spot Individual?" Rainbow Candy asked on the side.
"He’s on General Darius’s payroll, one of the three giants of the military, who has some ties with Simon from Fuldong City, and Major General Simon has always been mysterious, rumored to be associated with Utopia. But there’s no solid evidence," Qiong An explained, having quickly grasped the surrounding situation not long after her arrival.
"Now the military’s three giants, Darius, Duna, and Xindi, control all military affairs, with each presiding over the army, navy, and air force respectively. And the president is just a puppet facade."
"All of the army is Darius’s?" Rainbow Candy quickly searched for data with her AR.
"Yes. A likely reason is that Darius’s granddaughter was injured in an accidental strike by a Blind Spot Individual, which is why he’s had a drastic change of heart towards our group," Qiong An clarified.
"So there’s that layer to it," Li Chengyi nodded.
"However, the last time our team’s Thug caused quite a stir in Sultan, our team’s threat level was rated very high here. That might be another reason," Qiong An continued.
"Because the previous Blind Spot Team arrivals hadn’t encountered such difficulties. Only today did we face such targeting, it’s hard not to say it wasn’t specifically aimed at us," she clearly had a strong sense of belonging to the team already.
"What about that kid... the officer named Agasha?" Li Chengyi spoke up. "Is there any chance he could be recruited?"
"Are you interested in him?" Qiong An was somewhat surprised.
"Hmm... I like him," Li Chengyi said as he touched the Mark of the Evil Flower on the back of his hand.
To end the life of someone who had offered up ten points of anger-inducing Evil Thoughts upon their first meeting would indeed be a regrettable waste of rare fertilizer.
