Chapter 248: Past times four

Chapter 248: Past times four

Facing Li Chengyi’s question, the silver-grey figure did not respond. It simply stepped out of the range of the red light.

And at that moment, Li Chengyi, with his sharp eyesight, noticed that a palm-sized silver metal key had appeared on the tripod behind the figure, seemingly out of nowhere.

’Is that the key!?’ His heart surged with excitement, and his right hand clenched the air. A golden longsword materialized out of thin air and into his grasp.

This was the Golden Longsword inherent to Gladiolus, and after entering his Ultimate Form, Gladiolus’s sword underwent subtle changes.

It was stronger, sharper, and its appearance even more luxurious and delicate.

Whoosh!

In an instant, the silver-grey figure and Li Chengyi both bent forward, rushing towards each other.

The claw and the Golden Sword passed by each other in a flash.

Clang!

Amid the loud and grating sound of the collision, the silver-grey figure was hit by an immense force and flung more than ten meters off course, nearly falling off the rooftop.

Its legs dragged long, thin scorch marks on the ground, with sparks trailing behind them.

In a test of strength, it was at a disadvantage.

After a brief pause, the silver-grey figure let out a roar and charged at Li Chengyi again.

This time, the six shields around it lit up with different red symbols.

In a flash, red light shone bright, enveloping its entire body, and the figure suddenly accelerated.

Bang!

The sound of a sonic boom erupted as it broke the sound barrier, with its speed still increasing rapidly.

In the blink of an eye, Li Chengyi was caught off guard by the figure’s unexpected velocity.

He had just repelled the figure and was rushing towards the tripod, trying to seize the floating key.

But before he could cover a few meters, he was rammed from the side by the surging speed of the silver-grey figure.

In desperation, he had no time to counterattack and could only allow a burst of golden light explode from his shoulder.

Glint Flash!

Three times in a row!

Three bursts of golden light exploded almost simultaneously at close range.

The powerful golden light, accompanied by the force of the impact, clashed head-on with the onrushing silver-grey figure.

Boom!

The golden light dispersed, and the Golden Sword in Li Chengyi’s hand was struck and sent flying, spinning apart into countless golden petals.

He crossed his arms in front of him and finally managed to block the blow in time.

The two figures shot out like rockets from the rooftop, crashing into the waist of another high-rise building dozens of meters away.

Amidst the sound of crashing, pieces of broken glass fell downward.

The two dove deep into the building, and their shadows almost vanished in an instant.

As persistent crashing sounds floated over, their battlefield was clearly moving rapidly away from this spot.

The rooftop with the tripod once again returned to calm.

Click.

Suddenly, at the rooftop entrance, a faint noise could be heard.

Two invisible, transparent figures were stealthily approaching the direction of the tripod.

"Is there nobody around!?" One figure whispered.

"Those two monsters have gone far! There’s definitely no one else around!" the other swiftly replied.

"Quick! While the Stone Armor King is being lured away by that Reinforced Human!"

In an instant, the two figures quickened their pace, maintaining invisibility as they dived towards the key floating inside the tripod.

With their sudden movement, their shapes rapidly became visible, and the invisibility failed.

The two figures were one man in a shabby grey suit with a golden bald head and a face full of horizontal scars, around forty-something years old.

His name was Lao En, who had been in Dark City’s Blind Spot for who knows how long.

Many Blind Spot Individuals had arrived with him, but in the end, the only ones still alive were him and his daughter Qiong An.

The other, also with golden shoulder-length hair and dressed in a blue-black long dress and pants, was a beautiful and mature woman who clearly had undergone cosmetic treatment.

She was Qiong An, the biological daughter of the middle-aged man.

In reality, compared to other Blind Spot Individuals, their abilities and skills were far inferior.

The main reason they had survived so long in this place was the special Life Garment they both possessed.

This Life Garment lacked many functions of the complete version, retaining only the ability to hide scent, heartbeat, and turn invisible. It couldn’t even counteract magnetic fields, electric fields, breathing sounds, or voices.

Its effects were far inferior to those of the Rainbow Candy’s Life Garment.

However, despite the lack of these functions, their Life Garment had one extremely convenient feature.

It wasn’t a one-time use item! It could be recharged for repeated use!

And this was because the bald-headed Lao En was a former internal manager at Weibang Energy, which was how he managed to get a special custom-made version.

Many years ago, when they first encountered the Stone Armor King, it was a team, all wearing the Cyclops Ring, that triggered the revelation.

That time the team barely survived, utilizing special high-explosive chemicals. At the cost of several lives, they were finally able to temporarily bury the Stone Armor King deep underground.

Then the remaining few managed to get the key and left through the door.

From that moment on, they deeply memorized the true method of leaving this place.

Trigger the tripod, trap the Stone Armor King, get the key.

But... They tried many times and never managed that step.

So... they came up with a plan to lie in wait...

"Hurry, hurry, hurry!!" The bald-headed Lao En was not as physically fit and lagged behind.

His daughter Qiong An was a bit younger and had already dashed into the red light zone, reaching for the silver key suspended in the center of the tripod.

If she could just get the key, they could...

Suddenly, her hand veered inexplicably to the left and she grasped firmly onto the metallic surface of the tripod.

"!?!"

Lao En and Qiong An’s eyes changed dramatically at the same time.

"What are you doing!!?" Lao En shrieked, rushing up and reaching for the key.

’Flower Language Technique: Hand of Obsession.’

An invisible ripple appeared out of nowhere and exploded from his body.
