Blind Spot

Chapter 245: Past 229 - 1

The ground trembled faintly.

It grew from weak to strong.

In the dim city center, on the street, an Armored Mud Monster dragged its sword while rushing toward Li Chengyi.

Its speed was as fast as ever.

When this kind of monster sprinted, its speed could even come extremely close to the speed of sound. That gave Li Chengyi the sensation of facing a Flying Yi.

He bent his body, focused his mind.

He took a deep breath.

Suddenly, he lunged to the side, with one sword strike.

Crack!!

Two streams of green light met in mid-air at the same time, colliding like two green electric pythons.

Clearly, at that instant, the Armored Mud Monster had also swung its Green Electric Greatsword while charging.

The two, still about ten or so meters apart, swung their swords at the same time, casting forth the electric light.

Hisss!

The electric lights confronted each other, interlocked in mid-air.

Realizing this, Li Chengyi stepped forward, sword in hand, the Wisteria Floral Dress bringing him immense amplification, bringing his strength, speed, and endurance to their peak

The Wisteria Floral Dress, which had evolved three times, could be said to be the most balanced among all Floral Dresses in its all-round enhancement.

Its defense and physique were not as good as Feilian’s, its strength not as good as Sunflower’s, its attack not as good as Gladiolus’s, but it had a decent boost to all-around qualities.

The distance between the man and the monster narrowed more and more.

Ten meters.

Eight meters.

Five meters.

Sizzle!

A blinding golden light suddenly exploded from Li Chengyi’s shoulder, bursting out like a bomb.

The golden beam instantly struck the Armored Mud Monster.

The huge impact and burning damage made it howl, stumbling back a few steps, and the Green Electric Greatsword it held lost balance.

Its stream of green light also broke off because of this.

Crack.

The Green Electric Greatsword in Li Chengyi’s hand, as if repressed for too long, suddenly unleashed an arc of electricity that slashed down from the sky, striking the Armored Mud Monster.

With a series of crackling arcs, the Armored Mud Monster smoked all over, collapsing to the ground, its entire body completely shattered, turning into a pile of black soil, then evaporated and disappeared.

Only a new Green Electric Greatsword was left behind.

Li Chengyi stepped forward, grabbed the sword with one hand, and lifted it, holding it in his hand.

Meow~~

Suddenly, there came a familiar cat’s meow from the right.

Li Chengyi looked in the direction of the sound and, sure enough, saw that striped cat from before squatting at the entrance of a lingerie store on the right, its back against the red door frame, calling out to him.

He looked up at the sky wall, the mist now completely dissipated. He quickened his pace towards the little cat.

This cat might have spent a long time with Lien back in the day, so following it might lead to clues left by Lien.

More crucially, for now, he needed to avoid the potential appearance of a Giant Eye above his head.

He certainly didn’t want to be disassembled and separated like the previous driverless taxi.

Coming to the striped cat, Li Chengyi leaned his sword against the wall and looked at the kitty.

Meow~

The striped cat called out again and then, agile, moved away, heading towards the far end of the street.

Li Chengyi felt a stirring in his heart and followed closely.

If this cat truly had followed Lien, perhaps...

Neither man nor cat hid; they walked openly on the right side of the street.

The shops on the right were dark and gloomy, some glass doors and windows reflecting the yellow light from the street lamps outside.

Beyond that, there was no other light.

He walked for about two minutes along the street.

The striped cat suddenly leaped up, jumping onto the awning of a shop, and then, twisting its body, squeezed into a broken window on the second floor.

Li Chengyi glanced at the second-floor window, found an entrance on the first floor, and quickly made his way to the second floor with his sword in hand.

Bang.

The security door was pulled down by him and set aside.

Meow.

The striped cat had already found a spot to settle in the living room.

The entire living room was dim, with a black leather corner sofa, a decorative cabinet for drinks, and a pile of cardboard boxes stacked together.

That was all there was in this place.

Li Chengyi approached the cardboard boxes, casually tore one open, and looked inside.

The box was full of various sizes of food and daily necessities.

Instant noodles, sausages, canned food, noodles, flour, and so forth—all kinds of items were present.

He checked each one in turn.

Some of the boxes still contained a good amount of bottled and purified water.

From the way these boxes were stacked, it was obvious that someone had deliberately collected and piled them together.

Meow~

The striped cat called out again from the side.

Li Chengyi glanced at it. He casually opened a can of fish meat and put it on the ground.

"Here you go," he said, tapping the floor.

The little cat’s eyes brightened, and it quickly got up, approached, and began eating the fish meat from the can.

Li Chengyi took the opportunity while the cat ate to start exploring the living place.

Passing through the living room, he entered the master bedroom.

In the bedroom was a simple set of brown wooden computer desk and chair.

There was still a half bottle of mineral water left unfinished on the table.

Li Chengyi picked up the water and unscrewed the cap to take a look.

The rim of the cap was very clean, without any traces of mold.

He sniffed it, and there was no foul odor either.

’No microbial growth at all?’ he frowned.

He pulled open the only drawer of the computer desk.

Inside was a small black bag. The bag was the size of a palm, seemingly filled with something, bulging out.

Li Chengyi picked up the bag, gently opened it, and found several sheets of white letter paper folded into small squares.

He gently poured out the letter papers.

Picked up one, unfolded it.

It had rows of neatly written characters on it.

’....’ White Star Language again!

Li Chengyi, at a loss for words, took out his phone again, but this time the phone wouldn’t cooperate at all, completely failing to start up.

’Damn it!’ Li Chengyi dispelled his Floral Dress and rummaged around his body, then pulled out a small leather pouch.

He tipped the pouch over, and with a clatter, more than ten black objects the size of fingernails rolled out.

These were White Star Language Translators! There were sixteen of them in total!

Since Blind Spots were likely to cause devices to fail, he simply brought more to try out.

With so many, surely a few would work, right?

This was the only way Li Chengyi could think of to break the situation in a short time.

After all, he couldn’t possibly master a foreign language completely in just a few days.

He reached out, trying to turn each one on. If it started up normally, it would be usable. Then the green light would come on.

But...

It didn’t light up.

It didn’t light up.

It didn’t light up.

It didn’t light up....

It lit up!

Suddenly Li Chengyi’s face relaxed, and he picked up the one that started up normally, placed it on the letter paper, and scanned the rows of White Star Language characters.

The green light flickered, and a gentle electronic female voice slowly emerged.

"Our time is running out. We have only half a month’s worth of food and water left. If we don’t find a way out soon, we will all die here."

"Hasn’t the leader found the location of the door yet? The Black Armored People on patrol have been increasing lately. Morissa was discovered; she didn’t come back when she went out to look for something, maybe the Giant Eye King has absorbed her..."

The Black Armored People were probably referring to the Armored Mud Monsters.

Li Chengyi guessed.

And the Giant Eye King... might refer to the huge eye on the stone wall of the sky. Of course, there might be other monsters he had not seen; for now, this was the assumption.

He continued to listen.

"I dare not go outside. Mud Giants and Black Armored People are everywhere. Mud Giants are okay; we can at least run away from them, but no one can withstand the charge of the Black Armored People. Mina has used her Crescent Moon once more, and she has no Crescent Moon left. If she is attacked again, her death is certain."

At the end of the letter, someone had drawn a special symbol with a pen.

A black cross star with a ring around it.

It looks like a theological mark used in a special ceremony.

The symbol was drawn casually, not neatly, and it was apparent that the writer of the letter was very proficient, not drawing it for the first time.

And from this letter, he faintly guessed the usage of the Crescent Moon.

If the Crescent Moon mentioned above was the same as what they had on them...

Pausing, Li Chengyi picked up the second piece of letter paper, unfolded it, and pressed the translator onto it.

"Esther is dead." That was a line on its own.

"He couldn’t bear living like this anymore. He said he wanted to go out and find something to pass the time. But as soon as he went out, the cycle ended. He didn’t have time to hide; he was targeted by a Black Armored Giant..."

"There are only two of us left here. I have only one Crescent Moon left. If we don’t find a clue, everyone here will die!"

"I’ve written a letter to the leader and sent it, but he didn’t reply. It might be up to you."

"We can’t wait any longer. The cycles are changing, and the hiding spots aren’t absolutely safe. Isna, if I die too... if you can get out of here safely... apologize to Freya for me, tell her to find a good man to remarry... I didn’t deserve her... our Blind Spot Individuals’ fate..."

From this, it could be determined that the person who wrote the letter was male, and that he had a wife outside of the Blind Spot.

This wife’s name was Freya.

Li Chengyi narrowed his eyes, finally finding a promising clue. Lien had disappeared only a decade or so ago; if he was lucky, this Freya might still be alive, and after leaving, he might be able to learn something from her.

If the writer of the letter was male, then why was he writing to the person in this house?

Based on the content of the letter here, Li Chengyi understood.

’Because the resident here, the recipient of the letter, was able to contact their leader. Their leader was searching for the so-called door. And according to the clues investigated in the outside world, could this door be the invisible door to leave this place?’

Li Chengyi picked up the third letter.

Suddenly, his body tensed.

A chilling sensation of goosebumps spread across his back.

From the corner of his eye, from the reflection in the window glass on the left, he saw behind him the doorway of the room.

At some point, a black silhouette had appeared, a figure with long hair and a black dress.

Her complexion was pale, eyes deep and dark, gleaming with a faint yellow reflection.

She didn’t blink, staring at Li Chengyi, motionless.

"Hello?" Li Chengyi slowly turned around, making a sound.

The figure did not respond.

She stood silently at the doorway, gazing at Li Chengyi.

Suddenly, she opened her mouth; inside was pitch black, nothing of the tongue or teeth visible, just a dense, inky blackness swirling inside.

Ahhhhhh!

An ear-piercing, sharp scream, like the wail of a siren, burst forth from her mouth instantly.

Space twisted, light dimmed. Strangely, all the items in the room were only distorted, but nothing was damaged.

The massive wave of sound covered every crevice in the blink of an eye, filling every corner of the room.
