Chapter 177: Trade 2 at 166

"Brother, why did you suddenly decide to come over?"

Heserine was easy to distinguish; she always liked to wear pitch-black, dark clothes, and when experiencing significant emotional fluctuations, black burn marks would emerge on her body.

"Ah, I just felt like visiting you, so here I am," Li Chengyi replied with a smile.

"Really? Is that how you trick girls outside?" Heserine laughed.

"That’s not it. I have a bad temper outside; no one likes me," Li Chengyi chuckled.

"It’s okay; I can become bigger. If no one wants brother, I do," Heserine said earnestly.

Li Chengyi walked over, reached out, and ruffled her hair.

"Then I really have to thank you."

At this moment, he looked around again.

The bedroom remained the same, but it clearly felt different now.

The decoration hadn’t changed, but the atmosphere had.

The view outside the window was no longer bright daylight but pitch-darkness.

"Yserine, how did you manage to pull me in here?" Li Chengyi curiously asked.

"I don’t know... but I feel like, brother, you’re easier to reach than others. I don’t know why, but in my eyes, people outside are blurry, only brother is clear.

This feeling is most apparent when you apply oil on my body."

Heserine frowned in thought.

"I think this might have something to do with brother being a High-Frequency Blinker. Because in my eyes, those you call Blind Spot Individuals are clearer than other Common people."

"It’s possible," Li Chengyi also felt that might be the reason.

He belonged to that category of people who, just by circling around a Blind Spot a few times, could get pulled in—it was a case of a super High-Frequency Blinker.

In that light, it made sense that Heserine just had to lurk around him a few times to pull him into this place.

"By the way, I ran into those monsters when I went shopping last time; did you know about that?" Li Chengyi suddenly asked.

"Uh... sorry, I went to buy some food earlier... didn’t join you," Heserine quickly bowed deeply at a ninety-degree angle.

"No wonder..." Li Chengyi said to himself, recalling that at the Blue Book Wolf Cave, Yserine had even taken the initiative, but at the Silent Store, she didn’t utter a peep.

Turns out, this one was simply not there.

"You went to buy food? Where?" He was a bit curious.

"I’m also human; of course, I need to eat," Heserine said righteously, "By hiding under the bed and swiping places, that’s how."

"Swiping places... you think it’s a game?" Li Chengyi said incredulously.

He picked up the Heart of Greed he had in his hand.

"Can I exchange this for something?"

"Don’t know," Yserine shook her head, "It’s totally up to luck, some accept it, others don’t. So brother didn’t come especially to see me?"

She suddenly seemed a bit disappointed.

"How could that be? I came especially for you; I was just asking about this thing on the side," Li Chengyi lied without batting an eyelid.

"Okay, I believe you... follow me." Heserine turned around and walked quickly to the only large bed in the bedroom, then, with a wiggle of her bottom, she whooshed under the bed.

"Right here, brother, get in quick." She poked her head out and waved to Li Chengyi.

Li Chengyi gauged his size against the space under the bed and bent down to crawl in after her.

The two of them lay side by side in the dark space under the bed, looking towards the direction of the door.

From this angle, they could only see a small portion of the wall and less than a quarter of the bottom part of the door.

"When does it start?" Li Chengyi asked.

"Brother is so silly." Heserine patted his forehead, "It’s in the back."

She rotated her body to face the opposite side of the bed.

Li Chengyi then realized and followed suit, rotating himself 180 degrees to look towards the other side of the bed.

This time, indeed, it was different.

On the other end of the bed, even though it was daytime, the light was dim.

The lights flickered on and off as if the voltage was unstable.

Li Chengyi and Yserine lay side by side, and he suddenly felt that she seemed a lot bigger than before.

If she seemed to be around ten years old previously, then after entering this time, she appeared to be about twelve or thirteen years old.

She was taller, and her figure just began to show its contours.

"What have you been eating to grow?" Li Chengyi couldn’t help but ask in a low voice.

"It’s about to start, hush." Yserine raised her finger to her lips, signaling him to be quiet.

Then she reached forward and pointed, meaning for him to look ahead.

Li Chengyi followed her pointing finger, turning his gaze toward the outside of the bed.

Time ticked by slowly.

Gradually, a subtle noise, like the scurrying of insects, came from outside the bed.

On the silver-gray floor, a black spider the size of a fist crawled out slowly from a corner of their field of view.

The spider was entirely fuzzy, with a large belly like a water sac, round and bulging, awkwardly dragged by its eight slender jointed legs, crawling forward bit by bit.

It looked like a mouse pulling a cart.

Just as Li Chengyi was about to ask, Yserine made her move.

She plucked a pure gold hair from her head, carefully twirled it into a curl around her fingertip, then waved it at the spider.

"Hey," she called softly.

The spider turned its row of neatly aligned black compound eyes toward her.

Then, it changed direction, crawling towards the underside of the bed.

The distance slowly shrank.

As the distance closed in, the full appearance of the spider was finally revealed.

Li Chengyi was surprised to discover that behind the black spider’s plump belly, there was actually a zipper!?

A silver-gray zipper with a pull ring!?

It was as if someone had intentionally sewn it on.

"This, for you. I want, food." Yserine gestured with her hands towards her mouth.

She then handed over her tightly rolled blonde hair.

The black spider, looking at the blonde hair on the ground before it, nodded its head and with a surprisingly human gesture, reached out a limb to pull the hair closer.

Then, it twisted its round belly towards her, and with a leg-like limb, unzipped the zipper on its belly.

Inside, the red, white, blue, and green viscera were clearly visible, and it seemed to be storing some random items in a cluttered mess.

The spider rummaged through its insides, pulling out a nameless piece of dark jerky shaped like a finger.

At first, only the tip of the jerky emerged, and it wasn’t very long.

But as the spider kept pulling, the jerky quickly surpassed its entire body length.

It wasn’t until the jerky was twice the length of the spider that it was completely pulled out.

It placed the jerky on the ground and gently pushed it, allowing it to roll towards Yserine.

The black spider then lifted its limb and made a series of gestures as well.

And so, under Li Chengyi’s confused gaze, the human and the spider began to haggle.

After ten seconds, Yserine admitted defeat. Watching the black spider wave its limbs and skillfully cut a piece of jerky the length of an egg before handing it to her.

Her little mouth pouted, clearly unhappy.

"Stingy!" she couldn’t help complaining, "Death spider, serves you right for being so poor you can’t afford a house, having to lug all your belongings around. You deserve it!"

She began to curse that the spider would surely never have offspring, and that it would find no paper when it needed to relieve itself.

But as much as she complained, her body was quite honest as she reached out to pick up the cut piece of jerky and stuffed it into her mouth.

She ate it with relish, making satisfying ’bia ji bia ji’ sounds.

The black spider took the blonde hair, stuffed it into its belly, zipped up the zipper, and slowly meandered off to another place.

Gradually, it disappeared beyond the line of sight underneath the bed.

"Is this what you eat?" Li Chengyi couldn’t help but ask.

"Yeah, I call that spider Heserine, a free trader I ran into by chance." Yserine nodded.

"Free trader? There are free traders in the Black Sea?" Li Chengyi’s horizons were broadened.

"Yeah, although the Black Sea is dangerous, Heserine is immortal. I’ve killed it many times, but the next time I come over, it’ll still appear," said Yserine, casually speaking of dangerous matters while eating.

"Just how many such bizarre existences are there in the Black Sea?" Li Chengyi asked curiously.

"Don’t know. I’ve encountered many, and many have disappeared, never to be seen again. And there are many new ones that appear. Sometimes, those you frequently run into suddenly disappear. No one knows when they themselves will disappear," said Heserine nonchalantly.

"Oh yeah, right. Brother, weren’t you going to sell something? Why didn’t you take it out just now? I totally forgot," she suddenly slapped her forehead, annoyed.

"It’s okay... Look, opportunity knocks again."

Li Chengyi suddenly said, pointing ahead.

Yserine looked forward.

The room outside the bed had begun to darken again.

This time, it went from dim to pitch black in just a few seconds.

The two of them waited in silence.

One minute...

Two minutes...

Soon, the darkness outside the bed started to slowly recede.

In its place, a room with walls and a floor covered in black, thick wooden planks appeared.

The pale yellow candlelight flickered uncertainly.

With the help of the candlelight, from their angle, Li Chengyi and Yserine could see that there was a bed by the window and a desk in the room.

The bed was surrounded by white mosquito netting, a simple single bed, and one could vaguely see a figure lying inside.

The wooden edges of the bed also had warped and bizarre unidentified patterns.

To the right of the bed, there was a rectangular desk.

The material was dark red, with signs of wear at the edges.

Since they were looking up from below, they couldn’t see the whole picture of the table, but they could see a stack of books, somewhat disorganized.

To the left of the books was a human-head-sized copper kettle, already webbed over by spiders, covered with a layer of grey-white, evidently unused for a long time.

Next to it, stood a tall, white porcelain cylinder, as high as a forearm.

Inside were inserted writing brushes, a wooden ruler, and a wilted, darkened flower stalk.

Hush.

As soon as Heserine saw the room, she obviously became nervous.

She quickly gestured to Li Chengyi to be silent.

Li Chengyi nodded and lay quietly, waiting.

Time flowed by bit by bit.

One minute... Two minutes...

The person lying on the bed slowly sat up.

A fair hand lifted the mosquito net curtain, revealing a slender body in a pearl-white nightgown inside.

From Li Chengyi’s angle, it was apparent that the other party was male, and judging from the skin, probably between the ages of twenty and fifty.

The figure in white got out of the bed, put on matching white shoes, and stood up.

He walked straight towards the bed where the two of them were lying.
