Blind Spot
Chapter 152 - 141 Blue Book Three

Chapter 152: 141 Blue Book Three

"Beyond cognition? What place is that?" Li Chengyi furrowed his brows.

He had always been skeptical about such mystical claims.

He believed that humans comprehend the universe through cognition, and that which is beyond cognition can also be translated into comprehensible phenomena through various instruments, hence making them analyzable.

So, talk of ’beyond cognition’ usually implied misleading the uneducated.

"We’re not clear about it ourselves, but all our experts’ diagnostic methods have failed. Instruments can’t detect anything, and we can’t probe into it. So for now, we’re tentatively going by what Mr. Mu has said," Song Ran replied.

"This Mr. Mu... Why do you trust him so much?" Li Chengyi asked, pinpointing the crux of the matter.

"Because he can predict the changes in the Wolf Cave Blind Spot," Sima Gui said astonishingly.

"!?" Li Chengyi was startled upon hearing this.

"Predict changes!? That’s impossible!? That’s a Blind Spot!" he raised his voice.

"We thought it was impossible at first, but after witnessing it several times, we all believed it. Mr. Mu has predicted several changes in the Wolf Cave Blind Spot extremely accurately. His research on the Blind Spot is far beyond ours.

We couldn’t Flash Appearance into Wolf Cave before. It was Mr. Mu who guided Sima to successfully enter it once," Song Ran stated earnestly.

"So although his attitude is lacking, he really does have true capability."

"Predict changes in the Blind Spot...? Interesting," Li Chengyi mused, not ruling out the existence of such individuals, much like Zhong Hui. But precise predictions were impossible.

Zhong Hui had died long ago, with only his clone remaining alive.

Originally, Zhong Hui was also a scholar deeply researching the Blind Spot. With the help of Utopia, this mere Common professor managed to escape from certain death many times within the Blind Spot, demonstrating his strength.

And now there was this Mr. Mu...

"Regardless, I don’t have a good impression of him. As for the boss’s situation, I’ll investigate on my own, and not join you," Li Chengyi declared. He had two identities he needed to conceal and avoid.

If he were together with the others, he could be affected.

So it was best to clarify this upfront.

"Alright, just do as you see fit. If you need any equipment, just say the word. Whatever we can get here, we’ll provide for you," Song Ran offered generously.

"Not necessary for now, I have this," Li Chengyi mentioned, lifting the silver briefcase in his hand. This time, it was Flying Yi’s turn to come into play.

"Enough talk, I’m going to the hospital now to see the boss." He planned to first try using the Radiance Field to see if it could heal the boss.

"I’ll drive you there," sighed Song Ran.

The two left the library, got into the car, and drove to the county hospital.

Soon, within the white ICU ward, Li Chengyi saw his boss Xindela, surrounded by various mobile monitoring devices.

He wore blue and white striped patient apparel, lying on the white bed, with three metal poles on his left side carrying at least five bags of intravenous fluid with different labels.

On the right were several unrecognizable diagnostic devices, continuously monitoring his vital signs.

A nurse was carefully moving a new piece of equipment into the room, seemingly about to replace another.

Li Chengyi gently pushed the door open and stepped into the ward with Song Ran.

Pretending to inspect carefully, he reached out and lightly grasped the boss’s hand, examining the skin, joint mobility, and so on.

Meanwhile, the Radiance Field quietly and unnoticeably spread from his hand onto Xindela.

But oddly, the nurturing touch of the Radiance Field resulted in no change whatsoever.

Xindela’s complexion remained rosy and lustrous, as if he was merely sleeping soundly.

"The company sent the most advanced experts to examine him, but they’re all shaking their heads. They say the boss is not sick at all, just asleep," Song Ran whispered from behind.

"Isn’t there a way to forcibly awaken him?" Li Chengyi asked.

"Of course, but whenever we are about to try, the boss’s heart rate and brainwaves start showing drastic and violent fluctuations.

Everything returns to normal only when we stop what we’re doing. We dare not take any action because of this," Song Ran said helplessly.

Li Chengyi continued holding the boss’s hand, releasing the Radiance Field.

But it was futile, Xindela was no different from a healthy person.

Without injuries, naturally, there was no need for healing.

"Take me to where the boss had his accident," he said gravely.

"Sure!" Song Ran nodded.

The two left the hospital and drove towards the outskirts of the town.

Parcel after parcel of unmanned, watchful farmland gleamed golden in the sunlight, ripe for harvest.

Sitting in the car, Li Chengyi could also see local farmers lazily operating their harvesters, gathering the wheat crops.

"Wolf Cave used to be a decent tourist attraction, but two years ago, it suddenly became abnormal—people disappeared inside. After that, the officials came and found it to be a Blind Spot. Unable to clear the Blind Spot, Wolf Cave gradually lost its popularity," Song Ran explained as he drove.

"The place where the boss had his accident was near a redwood grove by a piece of farmland."

Soon, they parked the car by the edge of an embankment. Song Ran disembarked and let Li Chengyi through the fields, heading away from the highway.

The area should have been a remote wilderness, but surprisingly, there were a few individuals in black vests patrolling the vicinity.

Each of these black vests bore a simplistically large vulture emblem on the back.

"Those are people the company sent after the boss’s accident, all temporarily hired from internal security companies of Yi Country. Our people are currently dispersed in investigation. Three investigative experts came and are now chasing down He Bing, Mr. Mu, and clues about the surrounding environment—three different leads."

"The company has covered all bases," Li Chengyi nodded, affirming the necessity of investigating Mr. Mu.

"Don’t worry, a big conglomerate’s influence remains strong, even if the boss has stepped down. People from the local union and the Security Bureau have arrived. The boss’s personal safety is definitely not an issue. The key now is why he won’t wake up," said Song Ran.

Li Chengyi walked across the fields, looking ahead.

Far off, he could see a temporary silver metal hut erected among a red forest.

The door of the hut was open, and two black-vested men with rifles slung on their backs were chatting and smoking.

"That’s the scene’s protection. The areas marked with white lines are the crime scene," Song Ran clarified.

Li Chengyi shifted his gaze to the ground.

Indeed, on the ground of the mangrove forest, they found a large area encircled by a white line.

The two walked closer, and Song Ran showed his credentials, making small talk with the two men in black vests.

Li Chengyi, on the other hand, approached the edge of the white-lined area, squatted down, and extended his hand to touch the black soil on the ground.

Hiss.

In an instant, a wisp of icy black mist shot up along his fingers with lightning speed.

But it was immediately neutralized by the Radiance Field on his hand and dissipated.

"!?" Li Chengyi was startled and looked around.

He noticed that not far outside the white line, there was another man in a black vest browsing on his phone.

The man’s gaze was fixed on him, and with just a slight lift of his phone, he could have seen this side.

But obviously, that man in the black vest did not see what had just happened.

"How is it, any findings?" Song Ran came over at this moment and asked in a low voice.

"A little," Li Chengyi stood up, his face calm.

The boss had been good to him, and this time, if there was an opportunity, he was naturally determined to rescue the person.

"Which direction is Wolf Cave?" he asked.

Song Ran pointed towards the front left.

"Over there."

Li Chengyi circled around the white-lined area, covered his footsteps with the Radiance Field, and took steps towards the direction of the Wolf Cave.

Hiss...

On a level others couldn’t see,

with each step he took in the forest land, a silent black smoke slowly emanated from his feet.

That was something that appeared after a certain special power was neutralized by the Radiance Field.

"Brother Song, send me the exact coordinates of Wolf Cave, and also, give me the company’s identification signature," Li Chengyi halted his step and looked back at Song Ran.

"They’ve been prepared," Song Ran tossed over an identification plaque. "Vice Director of Security for Vulture Safety and Defense, temporarily added. It just so happens their main company’s vice director was transferred, leaving the position vacant."

Li Chengyi caught the identification plaque and pinned it on his chest, knowing that the piece of paper wasn’t important—the essential aspect was the identity registered and entered online.

It could prevent friendly fire and conflicts when encountering other company staff.

"Do you need manpower?" Song Ran asked. "There are at least twenty people here now idle. All can be assigned to you."

"No need, it’s easier for me to move alone," Li Chengyi replied.

He tightened his sleeve cuffs slightly, his gaze fixed towards the direction of Wolf Cave.

"I’m going to Flash Appearance to see what it is that could keep the boss unconscious."

If it was an object, then destroy it.

If it was a person,

That would be even simpler...

Li Chengyi put away the Radiance Field, keeping it tightly against his body surface, and then strode towards the direction of Wolf Cave.

He was not a good person, just an ordinary one struggling desperately to survive.

Whoever was good to him, he would be good to them.

Repay kindness with kindness, address grievances directly, that was all.

The further forward he went, the higher the ground beneath his feet became.

The mangroves around him gradually became sparser, replaced by another kind of light green evergreen tree.

These trees were not thick, somewhat akin to bamboo, bending slightly under the weight of dense foliage.

Their leaves were abundant, almost blocking out the copious sunlight from the sky.

After walking for about fifteen minutes,

Finally, according to the positioning of the coordinates on his phone, Li Chengyi found an irregular cave on the mountainside.

The cave was like a diamond shape with a notch, partially obscured by the dense foliage surrounding it.

Beneath the obscured section, a narrow stone staircase could vaguely be seen leading up to the cave entrance.

’This should be it, Wolf Cave... let’s first try and see if I can Flash Appearance.’

Li Chengyi was now very familiar with the probability of his own Flash Appearance.

If an ordinary Blind Spot Individual’s probability of Flash Appearance was once in five hours,

Then his would be possible every few minutes...

This difference was huge.

As he was attempting to Flash Appearance,

On another side, a range of personnel belonging to the company began to gather once more under Mr. Mu’s call.

Song Ran and Sima Gui both received the call and headed towards another forested area more than ten miles away from Wolf Cave.

Along with the rest of the company’s staff, a total of around thirty people, they all gathered on the secluded slope of the forest land.

Dappled light pierced through the leaves and shone upon the people, creating an atmosphere that was tense and solemn.

Mr. Mu, still in a gray-black long coat that shrouded his entire body without showing even a hint of his face,

was standing on a raised patch of hard soil, observing everyone gathered.

"I have just confirmed that He Bing is likely to be hiding in this place," he pointed behind him towards the dark woodlands.

"This is another underground cavern known only to the locals in this area, called Jackal Cave. My sources have just informed me, He Bing seems to have been hiding here for a long time. The place is not far from Wolf Cave, the terrain is concealed, and with some stored food, one can last a long while. Furthermore, we have discovered human tracks here. So..."
