Chapter 95: Chapter 95 - Starfall Showdown Tournament Part 13

"The next event will be even crazier and even more focused on team synergy. The next event is capture the flag!" King Zircon announced.

"Players will start at one end of the fracture in a temple and have to find a crystal orb located in another temple that’s hidden around the fracture somewhere. Once it’s found, you’ll have to deliver the orb back to the starting temple. However, there are only two orbs, so one team will have to fight in order to qualify for the next round."

"You hear that, Eliza? You’ll have to fight this time."

"Fuck off Zion."

"Now, with all that out of the way, let’s get this even started!"

Again, everyone was transported inside a fracture, their bodies getting used to the warping of space and time as they entered.

They spawned in a temple, nothing too fancy, and took a look around. The entire building was constructed out of stone, and stone pillars rose from the ground up to the ceiling. There was an altar with a large bowl in the center of the room, most likely the place where the orb was supposed to go.

"Alright, let’s get moving," Lars said excitedly, running toward the exit.

"No," Zion shouted. "We’ll stay here for now and wait."

"What?! Then the other teams will get a head start!" Kaitlin complained

"That’s the point." Luna expressed coldly.

"I’m not following," Eliza admitted

"Let the other teams get the orbs. Then, once they’re coming back, we’ll ambush them and take the orb for ourselves." Zion said, smiling maniacally as he laid out his plan.

"That’s cool and all, but how will we even know where to find the other teams?"

Zion walked toward the exit, stepping outside to a lush, tall grass biome with the sun slowly setting in the sky. "Leave that to me."

[Don’t you mean me?"]

’Oh, you can talk normally again?’

’Don’t start that shit!’

"So what’s the plan, Lady Nyx?" Dalys asked as the five of them flew around the area.

"Taurak and Kaida, go find the orb. Dalys and Vespak, you can go mess with the other teams." She ordered.

"And what about you?" Taurak asked

"I’ll be here, watching. Now go."

They all flew in different directions at supersonic speeds.

Hours passed, and the Dragon team managed to find an orb, securing them a spot for the final round. For being of their stature, it wasn’t difficult locating the orbs were so they managed to finish in less than an hour.

The elves, however, were having a more difficult time. It took them hours and just to find an orb while staying on high alert. The emotions they felt once they managed to find one filled them with hope and confidence, only for it to be shattered when two drakes blocked their path.

"Hurry, Princess, get out of here!" Gilborn yelled, shooting a volley of arrows at Vespok, only for them to be swatted away like flies. He jumped into the shadows to reposition himself, but suddenly, a hand reached into the shadows, pulling him out.

Girlborn couldn’t believe what just happened. "How in the world?!"

"You underestimate the Draconic race, little elf." Vespok laughed, slamming Gilborn onto the ground, knocking him out cold.

"Nooo!" Syrune shouted, lunging forward with a desperate strike, but her blades shattered against Vespok’s hard scales with a sharp crack. She recoiled instantly, landing lightly on her feet. With a swift motion, she crossed her arms into an X over her chest, then slashed them downward, unleashing a crackling, X-shaped surge of shadow energy that tore through the air toward him.

He didn’t even dodge, just tanked the attack and grabbed Syrune by the throat, choking her until she passed out.

Lasslail and Finhad weren’t having an easier time either. The one thing Finhad had going for him, his brute strength, failed against an opponent like Dalys.

She easily shattered his club and punched him straight in the jaw, knocking him out cold in one blow.

Lasslail came from behind, trying to strike when she was off guard, but as a dragon, her senses are super heightened, so not only did she react to his attack, but she dodged it, kicking him in the gut, the force breaking his ribs.

Valindra flew as fast as she could and didn’t look back. She knew that this was her only chance at securing her people for the next round, and she wasn’t going to let this chance go.

She traveled as a beam of light, flying back toward her temple, but even with the head start, she still wasn’t fast enough to outfly two drakes.

They gained on her quickly and would catch up in a matter of seconds.

"SHIT. SHIT. SHIT!" She cursed. "Why did they have to mess things up?! I expected Zion to ambush us, not the dragons!"

Suddenly, someone appeared in front of her, smiling as his long white hair fluttered in the wind. He gracefully grabbed the orb Valindra had in her hands, kissed her on the lips, then vanished from the spot after giving her a wink.

It was so random that it took a minute before she could even register what went on.

"ZION! YOU MOTHERFUCKER!! I’LL FUCKING KILL YOU! ARGHHHHHH! YOU SON OF A BITCH!!!!!"

---

"Hahahaha! I bet she’s mad as fuck right now. All that work just to have your orb be stolen from you. Unfortunate. Well, boop, now we qualify for the next round." Zion laughed as he put the orb in its designated spot.

"You actually pulled that off? That’s crazy." Lars said in disbelief.

"I’m not even surprised." Kaitlin shook her head with a smile.

"Why do your plans always work?" Eliza asked.

"Since Zion made the plan, it was bound to work." Luna nodded.

"Gotta think smarter, Lars, not harder. Thinking hard will only hurt your brain. Well, in your case, thinking smarter would hurt your brain as well."

"Yeah, I know, right....wait! What do you mean by that?"

"Nothing, man, nothing." Zion patted him on the back and was teleported to the stadium with everyone else.
