Chapter 88: Chapter 88 - Starfall Showdown Tournament Part 6

"This is so boring. Couldn’t this event at least be a bit more challenging?" A wyvern with red hair and horns asked, lying on the snowy ground, kicking his feet.

"Taurak, you know it’s those lesser races that are so weak. They have to accommodate for their skill and strength level, even if it means things become easy and boring for us." Another wyvern answered, her hair blue, and she also had horns on her head.

"That’s every monster in this region." A drake with green hair, horns, and a tail announced, dragging the head of a giant wendigo, leaving a trail of blood in its wake.

"Vespak! You’re back! Were there any strong monsters in that cave?" Taurak asked.

"No, just this wendigo." He replied

"Great, now there’s really nothing to do." He fell backward without any care, landing in the soft snow.

Another drake with purple hair, horns, and a tail came with the head of a wyrm, dragging it like Vespak, as a trail of blood also stained the snow.

"Encounter any trouble, Dalys?" Vespok asked

"No." She replied.

Taurak then turned to the blue wyvern. "Kaida, why don’t you fly around and see if there are any monsters nearby, huh?"

"Fuck off, do it yourself. You already know there aren’t any monsters left. Just be patient and wait for this event to be over. I’m sure the others will be more entertaining."

"Ughhh, but I don’t wanna! I want to have fun! These monsters are so weak that they died just being in my presence."

"Why don’t you go and bother the other participants?" Vespak suggested.

"Hang on, you might be on to something. That does seem like fun."

"Really? You’re going to bother those lesser races? Where’s your pride?" Kaida asked

Taurok laughed. "Heh, do I need pride to mess with my prey? Those little people are only good for entertainment."

"Check to see if there are any stronger monsters," Dalys said

"Why worry about monsters when we can just have fun with those puny people?" Taurak laughed as he ascended into the air.

"Stay put." A voice commanded, its power so strong that it forced the others to halt their movements.

"N-Nyx, what do you mean?" Taurak asked, slightly sweating.

The black dragon eyed him with a fierce gaze. That look spoke volumes, telling Taurak that he should shut up and do as she says.

"We are of the proud dragon race, and playing with those lesser races is beneath us. This is a tournament, so we shall participate in it as it is."

"But there is no rule saying that we can’t mess with them." He argued

"Do you think the people would think highly of us if we went around bullying the weak in a tournament that’s meant to improve the relationship between races?" She asked, her voice sending shivers down Taurak’s spine.

"N-No." He replied.

Zion looked down below at the dragons with a bewildered expression.

’I knew dragons were strong, but to kill every creature here without leaving a single one alive is insane!’ He looked at the bloodied area, spotting thousands of monster corpses mangled, burned, and mutilated on the snowy ground all around them.

When Tessa scanned the area, the numbers showed zero monsters alive. Each region was different in size, but the snowy one was the largest, and every monster there was killed. To top things off, this region had the strongest monsters in the whole fracture.

Nyx looked up at the sky, sensing something, but couldn’t quite put her finger on it. But as a dragon, her instincts were among the best in the world, and she always listened to her instincts.

"Hmm? It seems like we have a straggler." She smiled, her pure white teeth standing out from her brown skin.

’What’s she doing?’ Zion wondered. ’Is she looking at me?’

[Nope, she can’t see you, but her instincts are probably telling her that there’s something here.]

’I see...wait! How are you talking like that?’

[Ever since the day I came online, I’ve been evolving and adapting to your manner of speech. My database is finally updated, and now I can speak as if I’m like you.]

’Sweet! That’s awesome. I guess the next step is to build you a body so I can talk to you face to face.’

[With a big ass and big tits?]

’Definitely!’ Zion smirked

"What are you talking about?" Tarauk asked

"Haha, someone’s spying on us, I can feel it, and I don’t like it!" Energy leaked from her mouth before pooling in her throat. She looked in the direction where Zion was and opened her mouth, her jaw stretching to unreal lengths.

Zion looked on confused. ’Is she....OH SHIT!’

Before he could move, a beam of energy so massive that he couldn’t even see the sides of it blasted in his direction. The sound it made was loud enough that it hurt his ears, but it didn’t sound like a bomb or explosion, it sounded like a shirked of death.

’Activate all defenses!’ He ordered, also putting up shields and barriers to protect himself.

[I’m adjusting to the massive spike in energy! Error! The systems are failing! Hold on!]

As Tessa recalibrated to adjust to the massive wave of mana, Zion blocked the attack with everything he had. While he didn’t go all out, he still put all of his base power into defending himself, combined with his suit’s defences.

After withstanding that onslaught for ten seconds, it finally stopped, and he was able to breathe.

[I’ve adjusted to the power of that attack, but have to reboot the systems. The cloaking device will go offline temporarily. All offensive and defensive systems will also be offline, so be careful.]

’Understood.’ Zion stayed floating in the air, looking down on the dragons as he shimmered into light.

"Huh? A human? Ha! What’s a human doing here?" Taurak wondered, laughing his ass off.

"Have you lost your way, little human?" Kaida asked with a smirk

"Should I kill him?" Vespok asked

"No, fool, this is a tournament! Just beat him to near death and leave him to rot." Dalys said.

"Why are you here?" Nyx asked, but Zion didn’t respond, only smiled.

Taurak narrowed his eyes. "Hey! She’s talking to you! Answer her! And how dare you stand above the princess of the dragons!"

Zion chuckled at that statement. He wouldn’t have cared if she were the queen of the dragons.

Nyx was annoyed, but decided to ask one more time. "Do you need something from us?"

"You all don’t look so tough." He smirked

Nyx had had enough. "Vespok, bring him down. I don’t want to lift my head at a lower species."

"Yes." He answered, leaping into the air at supersonic speeds.
