Chapter 84: Chapter 84 - Starfall Showdown Tournament Part 2

Zaleena, Raven, and everyone else walked back to the booth for important individuals. There, the magic tower master, the knights’ order master, and the pope were waiting for them.

"My son, he’s a pretty powerful individual if I do say so myself. He’s the reason why my sister and I were able to reach the transcendent stage after all." Zaleena took this chance to not only hype up the humans but also bolster her son’s name.

"Is that so? Where is this son of yours?" Drakoth asked.

"There." Raven pointed down to a handsome young man with white hair making his way to the participation area alongside Lidia and Aurora.

"Oh my, he’s handsome." Melina complimented

Bromir looked confused. "I didn’t know you had a son."

"He looks strong. Shall I test him?" Belwyn asked.

"Yes, I’d also like to see how strong your son is." Drakoth agreed.

"Go ahead." Zaleena nodded.

Belwyn grinned and released his bloodlust, directing it only at Zion. Being an Ascendant stage warrior, he was one of the most powerful individuals around, and he’s seen his fair share of battles. To put it plainly, his bloodlust was off the charts. And this was evident when Lidia and Aurora collapsed to the ground, clutching their throats, and began shivering in fear.

"What happened?" Zion asked, clutching his women while trying to protect them from whatever sinister energy came their way. He soothed their bodies with his mana and was able to shield them from the bloodlust that managed to overwhelm their senses.

[Shielding the Host from a dangerous wave of energy.]

’Tessa, place a force field around them!’

[Force field activated.]

They gasped, breathing in fresh air as Zion held them close.

Angered, he traced the bloodlust back to the person who did this, his eyes landing on the king of the beastmen and seeing a smile plastered across his beastly face.

’How dare that bastard try and test me!’ Zion directed his bloodlust back at the king, not caring if it was respectful or not.

"Oh, that’s impressive for someone his age. I can feel my skin crawling a bit." Belwyn smiled. "But what is he doing right now?"

Zaleena, who was nodding with pride at her son’s recognition, turned to see him holding up his hand, focusing an energy blast in their direction.

"Is he about to attack us?" Bromir asked

"Zaleena, you have a bold son." Melina chuckled

"Ha! Yes! That’s how you should react." Belwyn grinned with delight.

"Your son has no fear, I respect that." Drakon smiled.

Zaleena, however, wasn’t impressed with her son’s actions. "Zion! Cut it out!"

"No." He answered back.

"Now!" She demanded

"....Fine." He backed down, continuing to embrace his women for a bit before telling them to go to their seats.

’Tessa. If they pull some bullshit like that again, blow them the fuck up.’

[Repositioning the Satellite onto their location. Since your mother and aunt have implants, the attack will not affect them.]

’Good.’

"Shall we get this tournament started then?" Zircon asked, standing up to give a speech.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls of all races, welcome back to the Starfall Showdown Tournament hosted by us humans this year! As you know, every ten years, each race comes together and brings their top five best rising stars to participate in this glorious tournament to see which race stands at the top.

Yes, I know you may be thinking that this tournament is pointless since the dragons have won every year for the past 1000 years, but I can promise you this year will be different! Each race has trained and studied hard for this moment, and I promise you this year will bring results that will be in the history books."

The crowd went wild at his words, getting excited with each breath Zircon took as he announced everything that was going on.

"Please welcome the contestants!"

A massive stage rose up in the middle of the arena, and on top of it, a magic circle shimmered into the light, teleporting everyone onto the stage.

"The Elves have trained with nature and spirits, honing their craft to the fullest, and prepared themselves for this very day. Their control over light and darkness is unparalleled, and they continue to show their dominance on the battlefield.

The Dwarves have crafted various artifacts, each powerful in their own right, for this very day. Their mastery over runes and metalworking makes them a force to be reckoned with. Underestimating a dwarf is like walking into a room full of traps.

The Beastmen are strong and wild, in tune with their instincts and a part of nature. They’ve trained, hunted, and evolved all for this day and to achieve glory befitting their race! Their strong bodies and determined attitude won’t accept anything less than success, and they’ve come with the goal to achieve just that.

The proud, mighty, powerful dragons, the unrivaled race, and masters of the skies. Only have they seen victory, beating the rest of us each time, claiming first place like it’s nothing. They continue to grow more powerful, leaving the rest of us behind, but today, will they see their first defeat?

The humans, my very own people, have seen nothing but the bottom of the rankings, coming in last every tournament, but that stops today. We have gathered the best our kingdom has to offer, each of them stronger and better prepared than our past representatives. Hear me, my people, we shall claim first place today, putting our names in this point in history, and achieve victory over the dragons, something that has never happened before.

SO LET THE TOURNAMENT BEGIN!"

The arena shuddered violently, the ground trembling beneath their feet as the landscape twisted and rearranged itself. A jagged tear split the air in front of them, crackling with unnatural energy. Reality seemed to ripple around it, warping light and sound in its wake. It was a fracture.

"In front of you is an artificial fracture made specifically for this tournament. Inside will be the first event, monster hunting! You all will be transported to a different location and will have to work together to defeat any monster that comes your way. But be careful, monsters aren’t the only things you’d have to look out for. Attacking another team is within the limits of the rules, so you’d better watch your backs. Time passes differently in there, so three days will be three hours here. Each monster kill is a point, and the stronger the monster, the more points you will get. Lastly, remember, as part of the rules, the dragons may not use draconification and must stay in their humanoid forms. Now with that out of the way, BEGIN!"

Zion looked at his team and smiled. "You all ready?"

"Ready as I’ll ever be," Lars said, loosening his muscles.

"I am participating in this tournament, so it is natural that I will be ready." Luna nodded

Eliza gulped loudly. "I’m a bit nervous, but I’m sure everything will be alright. As long as we don’t get last place, I’m I’ll be happy."

"Hmph, I’m ready to kick some dragon ass! I won’t let those lizards stand in my way and victory." Kaitlin pulled out her sword and was ready to enter the fracture.

"Well said, let’s go."
