Zion, now finished scanning Lidia’s body, sat next to her, comforting his fiancée as she tried her best to recall what she heard.

"She said something along the lines of ’I want to see the look on Zion’s face after I turn you into a demon.’ That’s not exactly what she said, but I definitely heard ’Turn you into a demon.’" She rested her head on Zion’s shoulders, relieved she was out of that mess, but also worried for Alice.

"Turn you into a demon? Is that what they were doing? Is that even possible?" Then Zion recalled something. "Have you heard of the name Demonic Seed or Demon Seed?"

"Not that I recall, no." She answered.

"Hmmm." Zion drew a rune and then activated it. Within seconds, his mother and aunt were both standing in front of him.

"My sweet! Is there anything wrong? Are you hurt? You’re okay, right?" Zaleena asked, checking Zion’s body for any harm.

"Honey, did something happen? Why did you call us?" Raven asked, slightly worried

"I’m okay, I just have some new information that needs to be shared with you two."

They both nodded, waiting for him to speak.

He told them both about what might have been going on in the laboratory where Lidia was trapped. He also told them about the demon seed and thought it may be related to the experiments.

"That is vital information. This isn’t something we should take lightly." Zaleena nodded

Raven agreed with her sister but asked Zion about his thought process. "But why do you think this demon seed is related?"

"I don’t know for sure, but hearing the word ’seed’ makes me think of growth. That demon in the dungeon wondered if I would be compatible with a demon seed. Lidia gets captured because she’s special, unlike many others. She also learned that she was going to be turned into a demon. They all have to be connected in some way, right?"

Lidia also added extra information, telling them how she said Zion was more special than her, but the woman countered, saying that he wasn’t as special as the eight that were taken.

"So there is literally something special about your being, your person. Something that made them go after you in the first place. Something that isn’t related to talent or power." Raven concluded.

"Wait! Tessa, bring me Project V-1." Zion ordered.

[Project V-1 is being transported]

"Huff, huff! You asked for this master?" A short, young elf girl asked as she arrived with a briefcase.

"Yes, thank you. Go ahead and take the day off." Zion smiled.

"T-Thank you, master!" She bowed and left the area with a large smile on her face.

"Okay, Lidia, you might think I’m crazy, but-"

"No, no, you ARE crazy." She corrected

"Ahem, yes, but you might think I’m insane because-"

"You are insane." She corrected once more.

"I’m going to inject demonic energy into your body."

"WHAT!" Zaleena and Raved shouted

"Hear me out. She was told her body was special and that she was going to be turned into a demon. Demonic energy CANNOT co-exist with mana. It breaks it down, devours it, and completely eats away at it, but if she were going to become a demon, she would need to be compatible with the energy in the first place."

"But I heard the other scream in pain while being experimented on. Wouldn’t that mean we aren’t compatible?" Lidia asked

"That depends on how much of it they pumped into your body and the methods they used to conduct the experiment. Too much of anything is harmful to the body if you don’t give it time to adjust. Hold out your arm."

Doing as he said, she held her arm out. Zion grabbed it, swabbing the injection area, then inserted the syringe filled with demonic blood into her bloodstream.

"This is the blood of the vampire demon I killed. It is filled with demonic energy, so your body will either try to fight it off, or if you are special, it will simply accept the energy. Don’t try and fight it, just let it flow unrestricted."

And so they waited. After about a minute, the time when the body would go into overdrive to ward off the foreign energy, nothing happened.

"What the-" He looked at his aunt and mom. "Let me try again." So, doing as he did before, he injected Lidia with the vampire blood, and just like last time, her body completely accepted it.

"Holy fucking shit! Your body is compatible with demonic energy! That’s cool! You could potentially use another energy besides mana!" Zion saw this as an absolute win.

"No, this is bad," Raven commented, looking at Lidia with a worried expression.

"Why?" Both Zion and Lidia asked

"Accepting demonic energy can mean two things. First, your body simply accepts the energy without any harm done to the body. That would be the best-case scenario. The second would be that she’s, no, her entire family, is either descended from demons or has demon blood running in their veins. This is far worse than the latter because if it’s true, then her entire family could get purged by the Royal Army and Church." Zaleena said with a tight expression on her face.

"Oh." That was all Zion could say.
