Chapter 58: Chapter 58 - The bald man with an ugly scar

Zion stared at a screen that showed the entire planet from an orbital view. The world was massive, about the size of Neptune, and was mostly water. A massive continent alongside many islands stretched across the northern and southern hemispheres on the ’western’ side of the world, while the ’eastern’ side was completely obscured from view as if a protective veil was keeping it hidden.

On the top right of the screen read ’Zion Sky Network’, which was basically Zion’s own personal internet that allowed him to connect all of his technology together.

Another week had passed since Lidia and Alice went missing, causing Zion to build up two weeks of stress and anger.

Thankfully, the king’s royal decree had the entire royal army and its many divisions searching all over the kingdom for any sign of demonic humans, making Zion’s own search easier, but nothing ever turned up. Although many demonic humans had been found and executed, none had the information he wanted.

His mother had to deal with Royal affairs as she was one of the leaders of the kingdom, and his sisters also helped out at the magic tower since they had ties to it as well. Thanks to them, he got updates on the situation in the capital.

On another note, Zion had tons of letters from Victor Brightburn, Lidia’s father, asking if he had any updates on her situation. Although he didn’t, he kept Victor in the loop as he continued his search.

On another screen, the image of the planet was zoomed in on the Astir kingdom, watching everything that happened here in real time. He saw a hooded figure walk into an alleyway, giving off suspicious vibes.

"Find and question that man now!" Zion ordered through an earpiece. Within a few moments, Zion’s stealth force captured the man and questioned him. Unfortunately, it turned out that he was a simple drug dealer working for the criminal underground.

"Fuck!" He slammed his fist onto a table, splitting it in half.

"Don’t worry, sir, we’ll find her." Jill, the head of his science team, said, trying to calm him.

"Everything is just so frustrating! I’ve adjusted the sensors to pick up demonic energy, yet nothing has popped up! The more time it takes to find her, the more danger she could be in." Then he saw Curtis on the screen getting into a carriage with two girls in his arms.

"Heh, look at this bastard. Just the sight of him pisses me off." At first, he wanted to question Curtis since he knew that his father was the reason for Alice’s family debt, but he thought it was useless since not only was Curtis a dumbass, but he assumes his father had no part in the kidnapping.

’That bastard has always been a snake, but I doubt he’ll associate with demonic humans. His wife is an avid member of the church after all.’

Then, teleporting into the room and getting on one knee was a member of his stealth force.

"I apologize, master, but we have not managed to find the whereabouts of Lady Lidia and Alice in the slums or the criminal underground. Our forces are still looking into-" She paused when she saw the screen

"What?" Zion asked

"T-That person on the screen!"

"Curtis?"

"No, the one pulling the carriage, he’s the one we saw kidnap Alice!"

In a heartbeat, the room ignited with a bloodlust so fierce it warped the very air—technology crackled, sparked, and shattered under the strain of Zion’s surging power. He seared that face into memory, branding it into his mind, then vanished in a blur, tearing toward the capital at impossible speed.

---

"Take me home, Buck, I’ll be having fun tonight." Curtis laughed as he kissed one of the girls while groping the other one.

"Yes, young master," Buck, the bald man with a jagged scar across his face, replied politely.

Next to Buck sat a knight who was a part of Curtis’s house. On both sides of the carriage were two more knights riding horses, and one more who rode behind the carriage. These men were Curtit’s guards while Buck was his attendant.

They traveled on the road that led back to their territory from the Royal Capital ,as the school was temporarily closed and students were returning home one by one. Curtis wanted to party for a bit, so that was why he was leaving later than normal.

’Ahh, nice clear blue skies. Lord Lasrson said my pay for capturing that little girl would be handed to me today. Man, I could use a drink.’ Buck thought to himself as he whipped the reins.

Then he heard a faint ’boom’ sound.

"Hmm? You guys heard that?" Buck asked as he looked around at the knights.

"Sir Buck, have you been drinking again?"

"Hahaha! Didn’t we say we’ll place a bet to see how long Sir Buck could go without a drink?"

"We might be getting paid today, boys!"

"Hahahaha!" They all laughed.

"No! I’m serious!" Then he heard it again. "See! There it goes again!"

"No offense, Sir Buck, but you should really cut back on the drink-UGH" A spear made of flames impaled the knight in the mouth, killing him instantly.

"We’re under attack! Protect the young master!" Everyone got into a defensive formation, preparing for the attacker to reveal himself or attack once more.

"What’s going on out there!" Curtis yelled in anger as he forced one of the girls to pleasure his lower half.

"Don’t worry, young master, we’ll protect you!"

"You fucking better! My father is paying you good money, so I expect you to protect me with your life!"

Buck activated a rune on the carriage that put a protective barrier around the carriage, protecting it from oncoming danger.

"Where is that basta-" A spear made of flames pierced another knight’s head from a different angle

"Careful! There is more than one attacker!" A knight yelled before being impaled in the back

"Shit! Shit! Shit! Shit! I didn’t sign up for this!" The final knight ran for his life, leaving Buck and Curtis to fend for their own.

"Get back here, you bastard!" Buck shouted in anger, but it didn’t seem to matter because after the knight took a few steps, his head exploded.

"What the fuck?!"

"Buck! What’s going on!"

"Stay inside, young master! I’m afraid it’s very dangerOUS!" Just in the nick of time, Buck managed to deflect an incoming flame spear that was aimed at his head.

’Such power!’ He screamed in his head as the impact of the attack nearly broke his arm.

"Show yourself, coward!" Buck screamed

And show himself he did. Zion rocketed toward Buck from the sky at speeds so fast he appeared as a blur.

Thanks to his senses, Buck managed to react to Zion appearing in front of him, but he wasn’t fast enough to counter-attack or even see when his head was grabbed and flung into the carriage, shattering the barrier and splitting the carriage in half with his body before colliding with a tree.

"ARGHHHH!" He bellowed in pain.

"W-What’s happening? Zion? What the fuck are you doing here you fatherless bastard?!" Curtis screamed, pulling up his pants.

Zion ignored him, taking his time as he walked toward Buck.

"Hey! Don’t ignore me! I’m talking to you!" A single touch to the shoulder— That was his final mistake. Curtis didn’t even have time to scream or even understand what happened. All he remembered seeing was the world flipping upside down as his head rolled off his body.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!"

"EEEEEKKKKK!!!"

The two girls screamed in horror!

Zion looked at them and asked, "Are you two nobles?"

It took a minute for them to respond, but eventually, they shook their heads ’no’.

Zion smiled his handsome, lady-killer smile. The two girls felt slightly relieved, hoping that not being nobles meant he wasn’t after them, but unfortunately, that was not the case. With a simple swipe of his finger, he sliced the girls in half diagonally.

"YOU FUCKING BASTARD!" Buck shouted as he charged at Zion, sword in hand, with all his power. "I’LL KILL YOU FOR WHAT YOU’VE DONE!"

Zion grabbed the sword, the power creating a massive shockwave that altered the landscape around them while doing completely nothing to Zion.

"I’m only going to ask once. Where did you take Alice?!"
