Blade of the Goddess -
Chapter 248
Chapter 248: Chapter 248
It had been about a month since Zion finished his training with the twin goddesses. During that time, he kept to himself, not engaging with anyone, even Tessa and Aryah.
While his body had physically healed, his mind was still going through a tough time. But it wasn’t what you would assume.
While his mind did break after being exposed to a higher level of existence and being forced to fill their shoes, even for a little bit, what really made him feel broken was what he learned about the universe.
His world, his old world, Earth, was just one of trillions of planets that happened to be overrun by monsters.
Zion learned that every world has a will, a heaven and hell, as well as a monster realm that is connected to it. However, not every world has gods to govern it. This meant that if something existed in the world, its Will would try its best to protect it, even if it was to the extreme.
Because his old world had no mana or some type of spiritual energy that could be harnessed, the monsters from the monster realm wouldn’t cross over. However, something happened that made fractures open all over the Earth, allowing monsters to invade his world and kill everyone.
Because the will of the world wanted to preserve itself, it fought back, but not in the way one would assume. When a world without spiritual energy, gods, or angels exists, there is only one way for it to fight back: a global extinction event.
Zion’s old world was ravaged and destroyed by monsters. Land masses shifted, places became uninhabitable, and humans dwindled down to just a few million.
Before, Zion thought this was just because of the monsters. But now, he understood that it was the will of the world that did it.
He was able to figure all of this out because when Luminera and Erebosa exposed him to their divine life, he was forced to understand how World Wills work, with and without gods and spiritual energy.
Also, because Luminera took his soul from his old world, he was able to see glimpses of her memories, more specifically, glimpses of her power that showed him the past.
’I thought...I didn’t know...’ Zion could barely form his thoughts
’People on earth don’t have mana, so they don’t have the means to close fractures. Does this mean my world is gone?’
Zion knew that if you let a fracture completely bleed into the world, it would then become a permanent part of it, which is known as a fracture plain.
’They don’t have the mana to fight back! They are barely holding on! Our weapons can only kill up to a rank-5 fracture! What if a rank-6 or higher appeared? They’ll be wiped out! And the Will! That fucking Will of the World!"
Zion learned another thing. Mana or spiritual energy is a part of what he dubbed an energy chain. Primordial Forces are the original energy in the universe. When the universe was born, it also birthed primordial energies.
After that, the forces split up, forming weaker but still very powerful energies that then shaped the universe. These energies were then called Laws. After that, those Laws spread out stars and planets, filling them with an abundance of energy. This energy was then called Authorities, and it was what created the will of the world. And finally, when life was breathed onto these planets, the authorities split up into smaller versions of themselves, nurturing the ecosystem. This energy was called mana, or whatever the population of the world would call it.
Mana, Demonic energy, and Holy power are all lesser versions of Authorities. Devil and Divine power are classified as Authorities, but are unique to a specific individual.
The reason why Zion was so angry at Earth’s will was that it could have given the population mana, but instead, it decided to kill everyone. While he didn’t know how his life would have turned out if he had mana in his old world, Zion did know that he would have at least put up a better fight against the monsters.
That was what kept him from doing anything. This information, this knowledge fucked with his brain. He could understand his world not having gods, but it had a will, and the will decided to abandon him and his people.
It took him a bit to come to terms with this, but finally, after a month, he sat up on his bed.
’I’ll save you all! No matter what! And if I find out everyone is dead, i’l destroy that fucking planet!’
Getting up, Zion made his way to Luminera and Erebosa’s room, where they were discussing ways to cheer him up.
When he opened their door, they both stood up in shock. The two of them ran into his arms, hugging him tightly, showing him affection they never did before.
"Zion! We’re sorry. I know it was hard experiencing everything we put you through, but we promise it was to make you stronger, not hurt you." Luminera cried.
"That’s right. Please don’t be upset with us. We’ll help you through this hard time and get you back on your feet." Erebosa also felt bad, and she wanted Zion to know that she cared.
He smiled. They didn’t need to show their affection, but simply doing so brightened his mood.
"Thanks." He replied softly.
Luminera cuffed his face like a worried mother. "Get some rest. We can do this some other time. You can go back down to the mortal world, finish off the other kingdoms, and get the relics. You don’t need to do this right now. I know how much it is hurting you, and I don’t want you to get any more hurt."
He smiled, touching her hand and feeling its warmth. "It’s okay. I’m fine. Let’s continue."
Erebosa became worried again. "Zion, this isn’t the time to be strong. Your mind, it can completely shatter, especially in the state you’re in right now."
He shook his head. "I’m fine, trust me. Sure, I was a bit shaken up, and I still am, but I’m okay now."
"Are you sure?"
"I’m positive." He smiled at both of them. "It’s time for me to become a demigod."
