Chapter 110 - The battle is finally over

Chapter 110: Chapter 110 - The battle is finally over

"Fucking finally. After all this shit, I want to take a nice long nap and have a bunch of sex." Zion groaned as he powered down, his muscles screaming.

"Did we do it? Did we win? We won, right? The battle is over?" Julian asked, his hands still up as if getting ready to prepare another spell.

"I can’t feel his presence anymore," Drakoth admitted

"What a disaster. My kingdom is in ruins because of that bastard demon!" Zircon cursed as he punched the ground.

"Cheer up, my friend. It could have been a lot worse." Belwyn patted his shoulder and reassured Zircon, but that wasn’t enough.

Everyone else took this time to catch their breath and relax, happy that the battle was now over.

"Son, you finally accepted the power," Zaleena said cheerfully.

"Yeah." He nodded.

Then that’s when everyone turned their heads, their expression not of gratitude or happiness, but of conflicting emotions.

"You hold the power of a god. This means you’re a divine apostle?" Drakoth asked

"I am. I’m Luminera’s divine apostle." Zion admitted.

"But you’re human. Shouldn’t you serve the human god Arion?" Bromir asked

"And what has the god I should serve do for us in this battle? Look at the pope over there, the one person besides an apostle and a saint who has holy power meant to drive out demons. Did Arion ensure that the pope had the power to save the people here? Did the divine apostle of Arion show his face, or are they still in the Valkoria Kingdom?" Zion asked.

No one had an answer because he was right. The god of humans did nothing when his people were attacked by the demons. But faith was something that was hard to break, even when you showed flaws in its belief.

"How long have you been an apostle of Luminera?" Melina asked, genuinely curious.

"Since the day I was born." He admitted

"What?!" Everyone couldn’t believe what he just said. Normally, one would have to undergo a trial and show their dedication to the god they serve to become an apostle, yet Zion was granted this strength when he was born? It was insane.

"Why have you not shown this power before?" Zircon asked, gulping down hard.

"So I could avoid the church of Arion. Do you think they would allow someone like me here? I’m already sure you all considered getting rid of me right now but because I saved your asses, you wont do so. You’re also probably scared of the divine punishment you’ll get if you do kill me." Zion laughed.

"So, what are you going to do now?" Belwyn asked

"I’m going to the holy city of light," Zion admitted.

Zircon didn’t know how to feel. He was an avid believer in Arion and didn’t want to get on the gods’ bad side. But he also wanted Zion under his rule. He was valuable, so valuable that his kingdom would quite literally be weakened just by him leaving.

"Is that an ancient relic? The sword of forms?" Drakoth asked, shocked that one was uncovered after thousands of years.

After asking that question, the greed in everyone’s eyes became apparent. A holy relic was right in front of them and for the taking. If only they could get their hands on it somehow.

"Yeah, and Luminera completely bonded it to her power. So unless you’re her divine apostle, it’s completely useless in another person’s hands." Zion smirked. "She already knew greedy bastards like yourselves would show their true colors once this came out, so she took some precautions. Also, don’t worry about me misusing it. I can’t even access its full strength since I’m not strong enough."

"T-Then-"

"Nope, not answering anymore questions. I’m tired and want to relax. Now leave me alone." Zion, alongside his mother and aunt, started to walk away.

"Oh yeah, Lord Drakoth, I have a question to ask you."

Hearing that Zion still showed him respect, Drakoth didn’t care about Zion being an apostle or wielding an ancient relic anymore.

"Ask away."

"You’re in the Mystic stage, right?"

"I am."

"How did you achieve that strength. And when I ask that, I’m referring to your body and how you didn’t die when trying to break through."

"It’s because I’m a dragon." He said confidently

"I don’t want that bullshit dragon excuse. Give me a real reason."

"It’s the truth. My race is stronger than the rest of your own. Our bodies are natural mana-absorbing machines. We don’t need to cultivate; just existing will increase our strength. Now, while we do have cultivation to speed up the process, it’s not needed. Our bodies are just that strong."

Zion thought about his words for a bit before asking another question.

"Do you guys also go through body cleansing?"

"No, but we do have something similar. All reptilian species share this trait."

"Ahh. You don’t even need to tell me. Let me guess, shedding your scales?" Zion asked

"Correct. Each time our bodies absorb a certain amount of mana, we shed our scales, coming out even stronger than ever. But it’s not only the outside of our body that sheds, it’s the inside as well."

Hearing that, Zion wanted to slap himself in the face.

"Wow. The answer was right in front of me. I’m so fucking stupid. Haha! Thanks, Lord Drakoth."

"For being the strongest race in the middle world, that demon sure showed you." Belwyn laughed as he slapped Drakoth on the back, hurting his hands on the scales.

"That’s because demons are of a higher existence than we are. The beings who are able to fight demons on an even playing field would be the angels." Drakoth informed everyone.

’Ahh fuck!’ Zion cursed in his head. ’I totally forgot about angels. Now that’s another enemy I have to face when I fight against the gods since they serve them.’

"Lord Zion, we have returned." Farissa bowed alongside the hundreds of other members there.

"Oh great, just on time. Follow me."
