If you want a grandchild, sure, but you’ll need to book an appointment, stand in line, and file an application. The fastest approval will take at least six months."
Hunter Warren chuckled silently, "Sounds just like Sean Lennox."
"Clara truly married the right person.
She says Sean treats her really well.
These past few days, she’s been a bit emotionally unstable after quitting her job and staying at home.
He’s been coming home early every day to keep her company.
To calm her emotions, he even opened a small shop for her outside so she could manage it when she has time.
He asked Clara if she wanted to work at his company, but Clara herself didn’t want to go.
She said she doesn’t like working with her husband, claiming it would put a lot of pressure on her."
"She’s probably hoping distance will foster beauty."
Faye Townsend shrugged, "Who knows? But I think this is rather nice.
Clara now has her own business, so she won’t sit around the house overthinking things every day.
I believe their lifestyle as a couple is really good right now.
The key is, Sean Lennox is genuinely a great person. Clara called me for ten minutes, repeatedly talking about how kind Sean is to her.
Clara is someone who’s easily satisfied, while Sean is someone who loves to give.
So I think their marriage is bound to be a happy one."
Hunter turned his head to glance at her, "Every time their marriage gets brought up, you always seem to have endless things to say. Looks like you really do like them."
Faye smiled, "Beautiful things naturally inspire a protective instinct in people, don’t they?"
Back at home, Hunter Warren spent time with the children like he always did.
He didn’t show even the slightest difference from the usual, so from beginning to end, Faye remained unaware of what had happened today.
After playing a few rounds of chess together, the two children followed Faye to practice calligraphy.
Hunter didn’t wander far either, staying in the study room while keeping them company as he worked on his own things.
The four of them as a family appeared as harmonious as ever.
But aside from Hunter, nobody knew about that cruel secret.
As Hunter gazed at the three engrossed in the rice paper, his eyes flickered with a hint of calculation.
That night, after an intense bout of physical intimacy, Faye fell asleep early.
It wasn’t that she wanted to sleep—it was because he had been too intense tonight, leaving her utterly exhausted and unable to do anything but sleep.
The moment her head touched the pillow, she naturally drifted into dreamland.
But Hunter, lying beside her, absolutely couldn’t fall asleep.
She and the children were so precious. He wanted to keep them trapped by his side for a lifetime.
But if Faye ever found out the truth, with her personality, she definitely wouldn’t want to stay by his side anymore, would she?
He couldn’t lose Faye, and he especially couldn’t lose the two children.
Over the past few months, he had finally started to feel the warmth of home and the joy of having his children by his knees. He refused to let everything revert to how it used to be.
He had to protect his marriage.
At times like this, no one could help him—only he could rely on himself.
He turned to gaze at the peacefully sleeping Faye, his hand gently caressing her cheek as he murmured softly, "We’ll be together forever. No one can tear us apart."
Then, he moved closer to her side, planting kisses on her forehead and cheeks.
Seeing that she showed no signs of waking, he lifted the blanket, got out of bed, and returned to the study room.
On the desk, the scattered rice paper from the children’s calligraphy practice earlier remained untouched. He lingered his gaze on it for a moment before sitting down and dialing Roman Hughes’ number.
Given the hour, Roman Hughes had already gone to sleep. Groggy and half-asleep, he picked up the phone, "Big brother, can’t you check the time before calling? It’s one in the morning, not one in the afternoon."
"Save the complaints. If it weren’t something important, I wouldn’t be calling this late.
Is there anyone around you? If there is, find a secluded place immediately."
On the other end of the line, Roman Hughes remained silent as he audibly shuffled to another room.
Once in the neighboring study, his voice sounded sharper, obviously woken up by Hunter’s call. "Alright, nobody’s around now. What’s up? Speak."
"Roman, I need your help with something. It might be a bit difficult for you, but it’s truly important to me."
