Chapter 268: Chapter 205: The Way I Felt Apprehensive at First, That’s What You Look Like Now
Clara called Faye Townsend at noon on the day she was meeting Sean Lennox.
She said she was nervous about going alone and begged Faye to accompany her no matter what.
Faye had never been on a blind date herself, so she didn’t quite understand how Clara felt.
But since she was the one who pushed Clara to go, she agreed immediately to prevent Clara from chickening out at the last minute.
Besides, she was curious about what blind dating was like anyway.
Before leaving work in the afternoon, she called Hunter Warren to tell him about her plans.
When he heard she wouldn’t be home for dinner again,
Hunter didn’t sound too pleased: "You’ve got plans again?"
"It’s not a date tonight. I’m going with Clara to her blind date."
"Meeting Sean Lennox?" Hunter raised an eyebrow. "Clara’s blind date, and you’re tagging along?
Don’t go. Come home and have dinner with me instead. Without you, I won’t be able to enjoy my meal."
"But I’ve already promised Clara. I can’t just go back on my word."
Hunter pretended to think deeply for a moment before saying, "I’ve got a better solution. We’ll go together to accompany Clara on her blind date. They can eat their meal, and we’ll eat ours. How about that?"
Faye laughed: "Why do I feel like you’re trying to keep me from meeting Sean Lennox?
Is it because I said last time that he’s good-looking? Are you jealous?"
"Ha, jealous of him? I’m not that petty.
Anyway, it’s decided. I’ll pick you up first, then we’ll go get Clara together."
"Alright."
She wasn’t about to turn down a free chauffeur.
After work, Faye waited right outside the company’s front door for him.
As employees passed by, seeing the president standing at the entrance, they asked her a few questions before quickly hurrying away.
Before long, Hunter showed up. She hopped into his car quickly: "What took you so long?
I was standing there just now like a monkey in a zoo—humiliating doesn’t even begin to cover it."
"A monkey, but a golden monkey at least."
Faye rolled her eyes: "You’re the monkey."
"Look at you getting mad now. We agreed on six o’clock, didn’t we? It’s five forty-five now.
You came early and didn’t bother to let me know. Now tell me, was standing there deserved or not?"
Faye laughed helplessly. She just wanted to get there early.
"You sure talk a lot. Hurry up and drive!"
"Wow, just listening to you talk about meeting Sean Lennox, now I’m being treated like I’m not wanted, huh?"
Faye pouted: "You’re just nitpicking at this point."
She glanced down at him and grinned mischievously.
Hunter reached over and ruffled her hair: "When we get there, don’t talk too much.
This whole relationship thing has to be decided by the actual people involved."
Faye nodded. She understood Hunter tagging along was mostly to remind her not to meddle.
He always worried about her, treating her like a child to protect.
Though in truth, she knew full well she wasn’t a kid anymore.
After picking Clara up, Faye noticed her looking very natural and plain, and couldn’t help but sigh.
"Did you dress like this on purpose?"
"This is just how I am. Since it’s a blind date, shouldn’t I show him the side of me that feels most comfortable?
I could dress up for one day, but I can’t look like this every single day forever, right?"
Faye nodded: "That makes sense. Seems like I have no experience with blind dates—totally clueless."
"It’s better not to have this kind of experience." Hunter chimed in from the side, casually reaching over to hold her hand.
"Oh, come on!" Clara feigned frustration, crossing her arms. "You two don’t mind showing off your love right in front of me? Not afraid of upsetting me?"
"Upsetting you is good. If you’re upset, you’ll hurry up and get married."
"Look at you, acting like I’m so desperate to get hitched."
Hunter smirked: "Waiting too long does make it harder to marry, you know."
Clara stared at Hunter in shock: "Faye, your guy is some kind of king of snark, huh?"
"It’s just who he is—irritating and unapologetic about it. Nothing we can do."
Faye chuckled. Hunter had always struggled dealing with women. Because of this, despite being Anchester’s most eligible bachelor, few women had dared to approach him.
When they arrived at the restaurant, Hunter went to park the car while Faye helped Miya inside.
Miya joked as they walked: "Do you think if I turn into someone with a limp, he’ll regret agreeing to this blind date?"
"He already knows about your leg problems and still asked me to help set this up. I think... he’s probably not that kind of guy."
Clara laughed: "The way you said that, now I’m kind of looking forward to meeting this blind date."
Faye looked up and saw Sean Lennox standing at the restaurant entrance. She smiled and said, "Just look up and you’ll see him."
