Billionaire's Unforgettable Ex-Wife
Chapter 267 - 203: As Long as You Come, I Will Spare Hunter Warren

Chapter 267: Chapter 203: As Long as You Come, I Will Spare Hunter Warren

How can this war caused by her ever come to an end?

Listening to Lucas Warren’s tone now, Faye Townsend felt truly distressed inside.

He was begging her, just like eight years ago.

She couldn’t give everyone a perfect love. What she could do now, the only thing she could do, was to stand by Hunter Warren’s side and support him.

"Lucas," Faye softly called out.

On the other end of the phone, Lucas Warren paused.

Faye’s voice trembled a little: "I’m with Hunter not because of what he possesses, but because...I truly love him.

I’m not with you, not because you have nothing.

I don’t choose people based on personal conditions; I’m not that materialistic.

I just can’t control my own heart. I really just want to see him, spend my life by his side, accompany him, and grow old with him.

Lucas, I’ve never been happy in the six years away from Hunter.

Even if I smile, the smile never comes from the heart.

Because in these six years, I’ve lost my heart.

I don’t ask you to understand my current feelings. I just hope you can understand that not being with you is not your fault.

It’s because of me, because I’ve lost the ability to fall in love with someone else.

Even if I throw away everything related to Hunter Warren, the memories won’t vanish.

I can’t forget him, so, please don’t forcibly drag me away from his side.

Because if I go to you, I will be skinned alive, in bloody and excruciating pain, and my heart will ache until death.

So, could you spare me, could you...just let me remember your goodness?"

"Heh..."

Faye heard a sarcastic laugh from the other end of the phone, yet he couldn’t say a single word for a long time.

"Lucas..."

"Shut up, don’t...don’t give me these sugar-coated bullets anymore.

Faye, I know you’re very smart, but...I’ll never be deceived by you again."

With that, he hung up the phone directly.

Faye listened to the beeping sound coming from the phone, her lips curled up into a bitter smile.

Deceive him? Every single word she just said came from the depths of her heart.

She slowly sat back in the leather chair, staring blankly at the voice recorder she had thrown and broken.

Suddenly, she felt that life is truly full of foreshadowing everywhere.

Some things are just impossible to guard against.

She just wanted to live a few peaceful days, but why is it so difficult?

She got up and picked up the voice recorder, recalling the voice of her grandmother she had just heard from it.

"Faye, there are two heirs in the Warren Family, and I want them both to be well.

But there can only be one successor, so I must do my best to protect the one I believe is most suitable."

This was what her grandmother said to her eight years ago.

Grandmother said that only she knew this secret.

"I hope you can keep this secret for me forever, Faye, will you promise your grandmother?"

Faye bit her lip, tightly clutching the voice recorder as she looked up at the window: "Grandmother, what should I do? Can you guide me, can you help me, I’m really...so confused."

She leaned back, quietly sitting there with her eyes closed, her mind in a bit of a mess.

She really wanted to simplify complicated things, but she found she couldn’t do it at all.

After hesitating for a moment, she got up, took her bag, and left the company.

She couldn’t hold it in any longer; she was going to go crazy.

She needed to find a place to clear her mind.

After getting in the car, she called Hunter Warren, telling him she wouldn’t be home for dinner and was going to meet an old friend.

Hunter didn’t ask her who she was going to meet, only if she was safe.

Listening to Hunter’s caring tone on the other end, Faye felt warmth in her heart.

"It’s very safe, don’t worry."

"Do you need me to pick you up after you’re done?"

Faye shook her head and laughed: "No need, I drove myself, just wait for me at home, I’ll be back early."

"Why does this sound like the roles are reversed?

Since when did the world become one where husbands wait at home for their wives?"

Faye chuckled speechlessly, then called out in a low voice: "Hunter."

"Hm?"

"No matter what happens, I will do my best to protect you as much as I can."

Hunter smiled: "That sounds nice. Suddenly I feel like I have the potential to be a kept man.

I’m happy you told me to wait for you at home, and I feel great when you say you’ll protect me."

Faye smiled lightly: "Enough banter, I’m driving, hanging up now."

She drove for more than thirty minutes, finally arriving at a village on the outskirts.

At the very edge of the village, there was a two-story courtyard-style villa. After parking the car, she walked to the gate of the courtyard.

The gate was a wrought iron one.

Through the gate, she saw a woman wearing an apron tending to the flowers outside the villa’s floor-to-ceiling windows.

Hearing a sound at the gate, the woman turned around, and upon seeing Faye, she appeared a bit flustered as she stood up.

"Miss Townsend, you...came."

Faye’s lips curved into a soft smile: "Auntie, it’s been a long time."

The middle-aged woman hurriedly wiped the dirt from her hands on her apron and then came over to open the iron gate: "Miss Townsend, please come in."

Faye lowered her eyes, nodded with a smile, and then went back to close the gate herself.

"Auntie, can I have dinner here?"

"Okay, I’ll start cooking now." The woman turned to head inside as she spoke.

Faye reached out and held the woman’s wrist: "Auntie, I’d like a bowl of egg noodles, just egg noodles."

Feeling the warmth from her hand, the woman’s panicked heart finally calmed down a bit, and she smiled: "Alright."

After the woman went inside, Faye followed her in.

This two-story villa was lived in by the auntie alone, yet it was always kept very clean by her.

Upon entering the house, she smelled a faint floral scent, which was the fragrance of jasmine.

Turning to look at the floor-to-ceiling windows, she saw several pots of jasmine flowers.

Faye walked to the kitchen door, where the auntie had changed into another apron to cook noodles for her.

She turned her head and smiled at Faye, but didn’t say anything.

Faye also looked at her with a faint smile, the silence between them seemed appropriate for the moment.

Not long after, the auntie served the noodles on the dining table.

Faye went over and sniffed: "Wow, it smells so good."

The auntie lovingly placed chopsticks beside her right hand: "Eat while it’s hot."

She said this as she removed her apron and sat across from Faye.

Faye did not say much, picked up the chopsticks, and slowly ate the noodles.

While eating, her eyes gradually welled up.

The auntie said nothing, just handed her a tissue.

Faye sniffed and dabbed the corners of her eyes with the tissue: "It’s just too delicious, I ate too quickly, so it scalded my tongue a bit."

"Since you know where the issue lies, eat slowly, and don’t scald yourself again."

Faye’s mouth twitched slightly, holding back her sadness: "How have you been lately?"

"Very well, every day is fine."

She sniffed, nodded, and continued eating her noodles. She had a lot to say, but she didn’t know how to say it.

So, she decided to give herself the time of a bowl of noodles to calm herself down.

As she ate, the auntie watched, neither breaking the silence.

She finished the whole bowl of noodles.

The auntie stood to take the bowl to wash, but Faye beat her to it, taking the bowl into the kitchen.

"Let me."

After washing and drying her hands, she came out and looked at the auntie.

The auntie smiled faintly: "Faye, whatever you have to say, I’m ready."

Faye clenched her lips, closed her eyes, fists tightly clenched: "Auntie, I...owe you an apology."

The auntie stepped forward and gently hugged her: "Silly child, you don’t owe me anything. You’ve never owed me anything, so don’t feel bad. Just tell me what you need me to do."

Faye also reached out and hugged her waist: "I’ve found a new villa for you in Zhejiang..."

"Alright, I’ll start packing soon and prepare to move."

At her words, Faye felt even more troubled: "I’m truly sorry."

Elders without dependency, what she was doing now was almost stabbing a knife into the auntie’s heart.

The auntie released her, gently stroking her head: "It’s me who should thank you.

As long as you two are well, nothing else matters to me.

Faye, don’t worry, I’m fine, I couldn’t be better.

Thank you for coming to remind me at this time so that at least I won’t become a burden in your lives."

When Faye left the villa, she had two vests for children in her hands.

These were all handmade, personally sewn by the auntie for Darnley and Miya.

She placed the clothes in the passenger seat, unable to start the car for a long time.

Turning to look at the brightly lit villa, she tightly gripped the steering wheel.

"Grandmother, what I’m doing now, is it right, or wrong..."

When she returned home, Hunter Warren was just coming back with the two kids from a walk in the small park.

Seeing Faye, Miya ran to her asking for a hug.

"Mom, I just said you might be coming back soon, turns out we are really telepathic."

Faye hid her feelings, picked up Miya, and laughed: "Sweet daughter, what were you up to?"

"Went for a walk with Dad, Grandpa Rivers went to see his son, so my brother and I don’t have to practice Shadow Boxing tonight."

Faye looked at Hunter Warren: "When did Uncle Rivers leave?"

"He left as soon as I got back, said Declan Rivers was sick."

"Yes, cold and fever, I asked Uncle Rivers to go take care of him tonight.

She probably prepared some tonic soup for Declan by the time he gets there."

"Didn’t see him taking anything with him."

Faye tapped her head: "Uncle Rivers never takes anything from home outside; it’s my mistake for not reminding Mrs. Li more."

"A grown man just has a cold, don’t think too much."

Hunter stepped forward to take Miya from Faye’s arms, glanced at her, then casually took her hand and walked toward the house: "Uncle Rivers always knows how to take care of his own son, come on, let’s go home. Darnley, come along."
