Chapter 241 - 185: Faye Townsend’s Fury Erupts

Chapter 241: Chapter 185: Faye Townsend’s Fury Erupts

Oliver Turner held her shoulders with both hands: "Is she okay? Is she in any life-threatening danger?"

Faye Townsend pointed to the door of the operating room: "Didn’t you see? They’re resuscitating her.

I don’t know how she’s going to be; I just know she was in a critical condition when they pushed her in.

I heard from the nurse that she was covered in blood when she was brought to the hospital."

As she spoke, her eyes began to well up.

"How did the accident happen?"

Faye wiped away the tears almost spilling from her eyes: "The nurse said Clara was hit on South Little View Road. The vehicle involved wasn’t around at the time, most likely it had already fled.

A passerby called 120 and saved her life, but nobody knows the specifics of what happened on the road at the time.

That passerby left before I arrived.

The nurse left his contact number for me."

Faye said as she handed the slip of paper she got from the nurse’s station to Oliver.

Xavier stood with his arms crossed next to Oliver, puzzled: "South Little View Road? Isn’t that on the outskirts of the city?

What’s Clara doing out there so late at night? She surely wasn’t there for a date or an adventure.

It’s obvious she wouldn’t go to a place like that to do such things at that hour."

Oliver took out his phone and immediately called his secretary, Liam Golden.

With a cold face, he ordered: "Go to the police station immediately and check the details of the accident on South Little View Road tonight. I give you twenty minutes."

After hanging up, Oliver walked to the wall and leaned against it, staring coldly at the floor, his thoughts unknown.

Xavier stood by him silently.

Faye sighed lightly and sat down next to Roman Hughes: "Can you please go in and check the situation for me? I’m really worried."

Roman gave him a sideways glance: "They’re performing surgery. Do you really want me to keep running inside and distracting them? Do you think that’s good?"

Faye gave Roman a glare, fine if he won’t go, then don’t lose his temper with her.

Time ticked by, and in less than twenty minutes, Oliver’s phone rang.

He quickly answered: "How is it?"

"Director Turner, I just went to the police station. There indeed was a severe traffic accident on South Little View Road tonight.

But the hit-and-run driver has already escaped, and the police are in full pursuit.

That section of the road is about a thousand meters without surveillance because it’s quite secluded, making the capture difficult."

"Then put pressure on the police. I have no other demand but to find that hit-and-run driver; I want to tear him apart with my own hands."

Saying this, Oliver hung up the phone and threw it to the ground.

Xavier picked up the phone for him: "Man, you’ve got a temper, luckily the phone is sturdy. What happened?"

"The section where Clara was injured has no surveillance at all, and the driver who hit her escaped."

Faye, sitting on the side, sighed when she heard this, traffic accident hit-and-run...

Everything seems to happen.

Yet, what was Clara doing in such a place in the dead of night?

There’s nothing to see on South Little View Road, is there?

The surgery continued, and shortly after one in the morning, the light in the operating room finally went off.

Several people swarmed over, and Oliver, somewhat agitated, grabbed the doctor’s shoulders: "How’s the patient?"

The doctor took off his mask and looked at Oliver: "The surgery for the patient’s intracranial hemorrhage has been successfully completed, but due to excessive blood loss, she hasn’t yet left the critical stage.

Tonight is crucial, let’s hope the patient can make it through."

"What do you mean by hope? Aren’t you a doctor? I want a result; is she in danger or not?"

Roman stepped forward and pulled Oliver away: "Doctors are people, not gods.

Our duty is to do our best to save lives. Whether or not she wakes up depends on her own fate."

"As a doctor, dare you say such words? Do you believe I can have this hospital shut down at any moment?"

Oliver glared at Roman with gritted teeth.

Roman crossed his arms and sneered: "Then go ahead and try."

Faye stepped forward and stood in front of Roman, glaring at Oliver: "No one wishes for Clara to be like this.

She’s not out of danger yet, and you’re in the mood to pick a fight with others."

She turned to Roman: "Everyone is upset now, don’t add to the chaos.

It’s late, you should go home and rest, thank you for staying here tonight."

"You appreciate it, but some people are really annoying; I’m like a dog biting Lu Dongbin."

Faye dragged Roman away from the entrance of the emergency room to let him go and rest first.

When she returned to the emergency room door, Clara had already been moved to the intensive care unit upstairs.

After Faye went upstairs, Clara had been settled in.

Oliver and Xavier were both at the door; the ICU was isolated, and they couldn’t get in.

Faye walked over, looked inside through the glass, and saw Clara, who had always been like a little fairy, now lying lifelessly next to the monitoring equipment. She involuntarily felt a pang of bitterness.

She is not yet married, hasn’t had her own children.

If she really left like this... there would truly be nothing in this world that belongs to her.

Thinking like that, isn’t it pitiful?

Faye sighed, resting her forehead against the glass.

Oliver came over, his voice somewhat weak: "Faye, you’ve worked hard tonight.

No need for everyone to stay here. Go home first; I’ll stay here with Clara."

Faye didn’t look at him, still angry at Oliver.

Though she didn’t respond to him, she turned and left anyway.

Clara’s recovery would not be immediate; not everyone can stay here forever.

She’s always been a rational person; even if the sky were to fall, life must go on.

Seeing Faye leave, Xavier pointed in her direction as he spoke to Oliver: "Wow, this woman is so heartless. You told her to leave, and she really left."

Oliver turned away with a glare at him, sitting on a bench nearby.

Xavier, not realizing he was annoying, followed him: "How did you fall for such a fiery-tempered woman?

If you ask me, compared to these pretty shrews, I still think someone like Clara suits you better."

"Stop with the nonsense," Oliver sighed. "You should go home too."

"I’ll stay here with you, preventing you from overthinking."

"Come on, I’m not so fragile that I’d overthink because of this.

It’s late; you better head home for some rest.

Not everyone needs to waste time here.

When she decides to wake up, she will.

If she doesn’t want to... even if the whole world waits here, she won’t open her eyes."

As he spoke, he fixed his eyes on Clara in the glass room opposite, feeling a profound pain.

If he loses Clara, it seems his life would be incomplete.

She’s his most cherished family member, without a doubt.

When Faye returned home, it was nearly two-thirty.

Hunter Warren was still awake, working in the study.

Hearing sounds in the corridor, he came out and saw her.

"How did it go?"

Faye looked surprised at him: "Why aren’t you asleep yet?"

"Haven’t finished work yet."

Faye nodded, leaning against the white wall by the study door: "Hunter."

"Hmm?" Hunter stood next to her, watching her profile.

Faye slightly tilted her head, resting it on his shoulder: "Human life is really fragile.

You know, the person who was enthusiastically calling me this afternoon, how come just a few hours later, she’s lying on a hospital bed?"

Hunter embraced her: "Human life is inherently fragile.

Since each person comes to this world, there will always be a day they have to leave; it’s only a matter of time.

Like parents, like grandma, someday, we too will leave this world."

Faye closed her eyes: "I really care about Clara as a friend.

Before when I was friends with Zenia Yates, I gave her my wholehearted trust, but she betrayed me.

With Clara... I didn’t invest much emotion initially, yet I found Clara relied on me a lot.

It was then I realized friendship doesn’t necessarily have to last long to exist.

As long as two people are sincere with each other, they can be friends.

Clara... I’ve seen my own shadow in her, I hope she can be happy."

Hunter gently kneaded her shoulders; he understood how she felt at this moment.

Faye was born into a wealthy family, and people around her were mostly well-intentioned.

Some approached her with motives.

But regardless, everyone treated her well.

So she didn’t harbor ill thoughts towards others and was guided by excellent parents, thus kind hearted from a young age.

Kind people are often easily troubled by emotions.

Hunter kissed her forehead: "With you praying so sincerely for her, she’ll get better."

Faye nodded: "On Sunday, I want to take the kids to a temple, will you go with us?"

"I’m not the type to enter temples."

"Why?"

"Too much hostility, Buddha won’t like it." Hunter chuckled, patting her head: "It’s late, go sleep."

"You?"

"I’ll... together." Hunter closed the study door and went back to the bedroom with Faye.

That night, Faye didn’t sleep well.

It was the first restless night since she returned to Hunter’s side.

She was worried about Clara.

The next day she got up early with dark circles under her eyes.

Downstairs, she asked Sister Li to make some nourishing soup. After drinking a bowl, she asked Sister Li to pack a thermos flask to have Uncle Rivers deliver it to the hospital for Oliver.

Pulled an all-nighter, he needs to replenish himself.

She didn’t do it to ease her relationship with Oliver, just hoped Clara wouldn’t wake up to find her lover looking worn out like an old man.

After getting ready and having breakfast, she and Hunter took Darnley and Miya to kindergarten.

Hunter chose an international school for the kids.
