Chapter 224: Chapter 213 Fourth Brother, How Did You Know I Missed You (Second Update)
Even though Yi Luowa wanted her old friend Huo Li back, Huo Li had changed; she had become much quieter, more sensible, and stronger.
She used to be most afraid of pain, but when her wound hurt so much that she couldn’t sleep all night, she didn’t make a sound.
She used to be the most emotional, but upon hearing about Kai Bin’s death, she didn’t shed a single tear.
Yi Luowa had secretly cried over the loss of the old clueless self, but Tong Airui said that people usually go through some personality changes after major setbacks, and he actually preferred this version of Huo Li.
Huo Li left with Yi Luowa, not even looking at her mother who was still in prison. She told herself that from then on, she was an orphan with no parents.
Huo Li moved into the Royal Hospital. To keep her from feeling lonely, they arranged for her to stay in the room next to Yi Weiyang. Yi Weiyang was recovering quite well, and occasionally Ao Lie would push him over to see Huo Li.
Yi Weiyang eventually took over Kabin Company, for which Huo Li was very grateful.
After arriving at Xiáwū, Huo Li’s mood improved significantly, and her condition also recovered quickly.
Yi Luowa stayed with her in the hospital, and Tong Airui often came by whenever he had time. This time, Tong Airui had no complaints because Huo Li needed everyone’s care now.
Yi Weiyang’s prosthetic was soon finished, and he spent several days in the rehabilitation room doing training.
That day, Yi Weiyang was extremely tired and returned ten minutes early.
Huo Li looked at him and chuckled, "Uncle, you’re slacking off again. When Luowa comes back, she’ll tease you again."
The mention of Yi Luowa made Yi Weiyang upset because that girl had an injury on her leg and was still busy in the hospital caring for him and Huo Li. If Li Hua hadn’t unintentionally let it slip that day, he would still be in the dark.
"Don’t mention her to me, that troublesome girl, hiding everything from me."
Huo Li quickly defended Yi Luowa, "She just didn’t want you to worry."
Yi Weiyang glanced at her, "You two always breathe through the same nostril!"
Seeing that he was angry, Huo Li joked with a smile, "Uncle, would you walk a few steps for me?"
Yi Weiyang looked at his own legs, steadied himself on the wheelchair, and slowly stood up. Huo Li looked up at him, realizing just how tall he actually was when he stood up!
Yi Weiyang saw her astonished expression and laughed, "What’s that expression on your face?"
Huo Li giggled, "Uncle, you’re about as tall as Tong Airui! Turns out, Uncle is the real tall, rich, and handsome!"
Yi Weiyang shook his head with a smile, "Forty-something and still tall, rich, and handsome? Watch now, I’ll just walk a few steps for you. I’m a bit tired today."
Huo Li was focused on his leg and nodded with satisfaction when she saw his steady steps, "Though you’ve faced some hardship, it’s showing results. Uncle, when I can get out of bed, I’ll practice with you."
Yi Weiyang walked another two steps before sitting down, "When you recover, go to school with Luowa. This year is too late; I’ll have Airui enroll you for next year."
Huo Li shook her head, "I don’t want to go to school. Let Luowa study at ease, while I stay home and take care of you."
Yi Weiyang looked at her displeased, "You’re only twenty years old, what can you do without school!"
Huo Li pouted, "Be your personal assistant, just give me a small salary each month, enough to spend."
"Nonsense!" Yi Weiyang glared at her.
Huo Li lowered her eyes, falling silent.
Yi Weiyang was so mad, he pointed at her and then, defeated by her pitiful look, put his hand down, "Huo Li, no one’s road is paved with flowers. You can’t give up on life because of a small setback."
Huo Li didn’t dare to look at Yi Weiyang, she lowered her head and said, "Uncle, with you and Luowa here, I won’t give up on life. I never liked this major. At that time, I chose it to spite those two. Now, I want to change fields and replan my life."
"What major do you want to switch to? I’ll talk to Airui about it." Yi Weiyang’s tone softened as he looked at her.
"Secretarial studies, I’ll learn by myself. Let’s not bother Tong Airui all the time." Huo Li smiled brightly at Yi Weiyang, "Uncle, I just want to be a secretary, prancing around in high heels behind the boss, full of pride, haha..."
"Why are you so happy?" Yi Luowa’s voice entered before she did.
"Laughing at her own lack of ambition!" Yi Weiyang turned with a smile to the door.
Yi Luowa walked in quickly, dropped her large backpack on the sofa, and grumbled while rubbing her shoulder, "I’m exhausted. Just registering wore me out this much. If I start school, how worn out will I be?"
Huo Li asked, "What’s up? Is it different from our usual style?"
"Yeah, it’s stricter. Skipping class..." Yi Luowa saw Yi Weiyang pointedly looking at her with a "smiling" face and quickly covered her mouth.
"If you don’t want to embarrass Airui, attend your classes properly. Thinking about skipping, huh? I couldn’t catch you before. Now, try running again!" Yi Weiyang patted his leg, "In less than a month, I’ll be chasing you all over the house."
Yi Luowa pouted, "Connie never does anything good. Now, I’m the one who suffers."
Huo Li smiled and glanced at Yi Weiyang.
Yi Weiyang furrowed his brow slightly, "What does Connie usually like? Pay attention and let’s thank her properly. If she hadn’t awakened me, I’d still be in a wheelchair."
"Connie likes Tong Aino, just give her Tong Aino!" Yi Luowa picked up a cup of freshly cooled water and drank it in gulps.
Yi Weiyang shook his head helplessly, "Those two kids haven’t made progress?"
"Who knows? I’ve been here these days. Connie just called saying Tong Aino’s been busy, nowhere to be seen. She’s been so bored she’s been hanging out with Shanshan every day, and tomorrow Shanshan and Old Seventh are returning to the country too. She’s also thinking of going back." Yi Luowa poured another glass of water and placed it on the nightstand.
"Wasn’t she starting her internship this year? Why rush back?" Yi Weiyang quite liked Connie, so he asked more.
"Nothing to do here. She’s afraid of gossip if she stays."
Yi Weiyang furrowed his brow slightly, "Has she found an internship company yet?"
"Royal has so many businesses, she can choose any."
"If she’s not afraid of being wronged, she can come to our company for her internship. That way, she’ll have a reason to stay."
Yi Luowa blinked and motioned to Huo Li with a glance, "Even uncle has learned to be flexible."
Huo Li smiled.
Yi Weiyang glared at her, "When you have time, talk to Connie. If she wants to stay, I’ll ask Uncle Pu to arrange it."
Huo Li quickly said, "Ask Uncle Pu to arrange a position for me too. I’ll go to intern after I’m discharged."
"Give it a rest!" Yi Weiyang grumbled at her.
Huo Li pouted and lowered her head, feeling dejected.
Yi Luowa, puzzled, asked, "What’s going on?"
Yi Weiyang, still annoyed, repeated what Huo Li had said earlier.
Yi Luowa watched Huo Li in silence for a moment, then shook Yi Weiyang’s shoulder, "Huo Li wants a fresh start. You should give her the chance to choose her life path. I think she’d be a great personal assistant for you, preventing any vixens from getting bad ideas seeing how handsome you are..."
"Yi Luowa!"
"Here!"
"Get lost to wherever you came from, don’t aggravate me here!"
"Yes!" Yi Luowa grabbed her large backpack and moved slowly towards the door, "I’m leaving, I really am——"
Yi Weiyang, facing away, slightly smirked at the corners of his mouth. He only spoke after she reached the door and purposefully slammed it open, "I had Aunt Li prepare pig’s trotters soup for you, have some before you leave."
Yi Luowa zipped back and said, "I drink soup slowly, probably until this time next year."
Huo Li looked affectionately at her, grateful for having this little ball of joy these days, unsure if she could have endured otherwise.
"Luowa, after the soup, why not visit the Duke’s Mansion? You’ve been here all these days looking after Uncle and me. Tong Airui won’t mind, right?"
Yi Luowa pouted, "He’s been busier than me at the camp lately. Aunt Yaoyao accompanied me to registration today. Would he dare have an opinion on me?"
"So, didn’t Aunt Yaoyao suggest you stay over for a few days?" Yi Weiyang asked with a heavy heart.
"Aunt Yaoyao said everyone understands our family’s situation. She asked me to take good care of you two and once you’re both well, they’ll have me back. Oh, Aunt Yaoyao said when school starts for me, she’ll take care of you two."
"No, absolutely not!" Yi Weiyang shook his head repeatedly.
Huo Li looked at Yi Weiyang with pursed lips, "Uncle, when Luowa starts school, how about we get discharged too?"
"I can leave anytime, but you can’t."
"I can recover anywhere," Huo Li pleaded, "Let’s go, so we don’t bother Tong Airui’s family any longer. Luowa doesn’t even have time for a relationship because of us. I misunderstood Tong Airui before. It turns out, he’s truly admirable. Luowa’s here supporting us both, yet he hasn’t complained once."
Yi Weiyang fell silent.
Yi Luowa smirked and said, "Huo Li, did you know? You praise Tong Airui, and he praises you too. He said you’ve become understanding and cute."
Huo Li gave a self-deprecating chuckle, "I’m just pathetic. People grow normally, while I have to grow up in adversity."
Yi Weiyang, afraid Huo Li might recall sad things, quickly interjected, "Let’s not talk about unpleasant things. We’ll do as Huo Li suggested; when school starts, we’ll get discharged."
"Discharging sounds good. I’ll come home after school, and the three of us can be together every day." Yi Luowa grinned and ran over, grabbing Yi Weiyang with one hand, Huo Li with the other.
Standing outside the door, Uncle Si’s face just broke into a smile but fell as he heard this.
"Uncle Si, are you going in?" asked Kou’er in a perfectly modulated voice, neither quiet nor loud, standing guard at the door.
Tong Airui turned his head to look at her, realizing this little girl was signaling her master.
Just as he thought, no sooner had Kou’er spoken than Yi Luowa came sprinting like a little locomotive with full steam, "Fourth Brother, how did you know I missed you!"
