Chapter 207: Chapter 198: Fifth Brother, Luo Wa has been kidnapped (second update)

After dinner, when the sky had turned significantly brighter, the group set off for the Bastu Tribe. Watching the increasingly familiar scenery outside the window, Yi Luowa’s heart pounded like a little rabbit was bouncing around inside it.

Not long ago, it was here that she met Tong Airui. It was because of this place that her life had been rewritten. Thinking about the present, and then thinking about the past, she had an overpowering urge to shout to the entire world: I love you, Bastu! I love you, Red Valley!

They chatted and laughed along the way, while back at home, the elders in the family were also talking about them.

Tong Yao looked at the gathered crowd, a smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "What do you think of Luowa, that child? Let’s hear everyone’s opinions."

"The child is good-looking and sensible, but she’s a bit young. I’m just not sure if she can hold this household together," the outspoken Second Uncle, Sheng Duheng, was the first to speak up.

"Isn’t Yaoyao and Mom here to help? Does she stay nineteen forever? Give her a few years, she’ll have it all figured out," Third Uncle Yu Jian retorted disapprovingly. "If Airui chose her, I trust his judgment. Don’t go splashing cold water on Yaoyao’s enthusiasm!"

"This kid looks like someone who enjoys having fun. Yaoyao, you’ll likely have to put in some extra effort," Eighth Aunt, Xia Mu, chimed in. "Still, once this playful phase is over, I reckon she’ll change. When I was her age, I’d sneak out all the time, and Grandpa used to scold me plenty."

Long Che’s lips curved into a subtle smirk. "Are you trying to say Luowa leaving us old folks behind to run off to Red Valley to play is no good?"

Xia Mu, unsure of his intent, didn’t dare nod.

Long Che chuckled softly. "Well, that’s because you don’t know how she met Rui’er."

Lin Jiang laughed, "Luowa participated in a car race in Red Valley and defeated our Aino. That’s how she got acquainted with Airui, who was on vacation at the time. The whole story, though..."

Lin Jiang deliberately kept everyone in suspense and stopped mid-sentence.

"Come on, spill it!" Xia Mu gave him a light kick.

Lin Jiang glared at her. "No way! Airui is the family’s treasure. We can’t gossip about him irresponsibly! Let me put it this way: I know Luowa better than any of you because I’ve already checked her out for Grandpa. She’s solid! You’re upset about them going to Red Valley, but have you ever thought about it? When Airui isn’t home, wouldn’t she miss him? Going there at least helps her feel a bit better. We’ve all been young once—how can you not understand where they’re coming from?"

Xia Mu pouted, "It’s not like I said anything bad. Isn’t this because Yaoyao asked for our opinions? Honestly, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with Luowa, but we can’t be all flattery. That’s why I said what I said."

Tong Yao smiled, "You’re all Rui’er’s elders. Speak your minds so that I can put more effort into teaching Luowa later if needed."

As soon as Tong Yao said this, the room fell silent. Everyone could see that since Rui’er’s parents had no objections, their own complaints would only add unnecessary drama.

Tong Yao noticed the shift in mood and laughed, "Alright, let’s stop talking about Luowa. Let’s talk about Connie instead. That girl seems to have a thing for Nuo’er, but Nuo’er is acting all aloof and indifferent toward her. I don’t know what to do—what do you all think?"

You had to hand it to Tong Yao’s cleverness. This time, she didn’t express her own opinion, giving everyone the freedom to speak their minds openly.

Ninth Aunt, Baili Bi, raised her eyes to look at Tong Yao. "I’ll be straight with you, whether you like it or not. Don’t be fooled by the fact that Connie’s a princess—she’s miles behind Luowa. She’s timid and indecisive. If she had her eyes on Airui instead of Aino, I’d be the first to object!"

Tong Yao burst into laughter. "You! Either you don’t speak, or you say something that can choke someone to death. But honestly, I love hearing you talk. Tell me, how can you differentiate between people like this?"

"Airui is destined to take over the Aldrich family in the future. His wife needs to have courage, determination, and the ability to handle things without dragging him down. Luowa can do that; Connie can’t. Aino, on the other hand, is a businessman. He could take his wife with him even when traveling."

"Ah-choo!" Connie, who had just gotten out of the car, sneezed without warning.

Tong Aino glanced at her but said nothing.

Yi Luowa secretly tugged at the lightweight jacket tied around his waist. Tong Aino frowned but untied it and handed it to Yi Luowa.

"If you’re going to show concern, just do it openly. Why make me play the go-between? Aren’t you tired?" Yi Luowa muttered as she draped the jacket over Connie’s shoulders.

Connie smiled and said thank you, but it was unclear whether her thanks were directed at Yi Luowa or Tong Aino.
