Chapter 192: Chapter 184: Both Crying, I Can’t Comfort Them (Fourth Update)
Tong Airui laughed and said, "Little dummy, you have to see the money before calling out, otherwise if they don’t acknowledge it, where will you go to ask for money?"
Yi Luowa wiped her tears, "Hehe... Fourth Brother, do you really think I’m a money-grubber? Even if they don’t give me money, I’ll still call. I really like Dad and Mom; they’re both so good to me."
"What are you doing right now? Are Dad and Mom with you?"
"I’m with Connie and Aino, on the way to the hospital. I’m going to visit my Second Uncle and will head back to the villa later tonight." Yi Luowa wiped her tears again, "Fourth Brother, why don’t you give the family a call? Everyone misses you."
"You don’t want to talk to me anymore?" Tong Airui glanced at the time, frowning slightly. His time was running short, and he wanted to hear more of her voice. But with her saying this, he also felt that he should indeed call his parents.
"I do! But you’re not just mine alone; I can’t keep hogging you to myself." Yi Luowa pinched her nose with a tissue, worried that her nasal congestion from crying might make Tong Airui notice something unusual.
Tong Airui said a few more words to her before hanging up hastily.
Yi Luowa listened to the busy tone on the phone for a long time, then held onto the backrest of the seat in front of her and started crying loudly, "Wuuu..."
Connie, moved by her crying, felt her own nose ache and shed tears as well.
Tong Aino glanced helplessly at the two of them. Yun Jin, driving, nudged him and mouthed, "Comfort them!"
Tong Aino glared at him, "How am I supposed to comfort them? If one of them cries, I can manage, but with both crying, I can’t handle it!"
This statement was like flipping a switch for Connie; she immediately stopped crying.
"Luowa, stop crying. Fourth Brother will be back soon." Connie hugged Yi Luowa and comforted her while wiping away her tears. "If you cry too much, your eyes will swell, and when Second Uncle sees it, he’ll feel bad."
Yi Luowa sniffled and nodded, "Connie, I miss Fourth Brother... Wuuu..."
"If you miss him, then nag him. Tell him to quit this job. You laugh and joke around with him but cry when you’re with us. He can’t even see this; he might think you’re okay with it!" Tong Aino angrily stuffed a big box of tissues into Yi Luowa’s hands.
Yi Luowa pouted, "I won’t nag him; I’ll nag you instead!"
"If you nag me again, I’ll hit you!" Tong Aino mimicked her own threatening gestures and waved his fist at her.
Yi Luowa leaned her face close to him, "Go ahead, hit me! Hmph, if you dare hit me, I’ll tell Mom!"
"You’re always tattling!" Tong Aino snorted and withdrew his hand.
"Dad told me too, if you bully me, he’ll deal with you as well!" Yi Luowa reached out and messed up Tong Aino’s hair, saying, "Tong Fifth, you’re nowhere near as good as my Fourth Brother! From now on, I won’t take you along when I go racing!"
"Tell me, what makes me not as good as my brother?" Tong Aino asked indignantly.
"You don’t know how to cherish girls, and you’re stingy. Even the tiniest little things, you can hold onto for over ten years." Yi Luowa puffed up her pink cheeks, "My Fourth Brother doesn’t do that."
Before she could finish, Tong Aino laughed, "My brother is different from me because I’m a minor conjurer and he’s a major conjurer! You’ll experience it eventually!"
"My Fourth Brother is perfect everywhere, and I’ve already experienced it. He’s nothing like you, constantly giving Connie attitude. Connie’s so nice; what did she ever do to you? Why can’t you treat her better?"
Seeing Tong Aino’s face darken, Connie discreetly tugged on Yi Luowa’s sleeve.
Yi Luowa glanced back at her and said loudly, "We’re not afraid of him! If he dares to bully you again, I’ll deal with him first. If I can’t, I’ll tell Dad and Mom and let them handle him. Let’s see what he can do then!"
Tong Aino burst out laughing, "My dear future sister-in-law, you’re impressive! Back in the day, Ai Ni was the boss, but now with you here, you’re the queen!"
"Well then, can you listen to me and treat Connie nicer?" Yi Luowa straightened up her little chest proudly.
"Sure!" Tong Aino nodded with an obedient expression.
Yi Luowa glared at him, "Can you be any more annoying?"
"I can!"
"Hm?"
Tong Aino held back his laughter and quickly corrected himself, "Oh... Oh... I won’t. From now on, whatever you say, I’ll listen. Really!"
"Then later, when I go visit my Second Uncle, take Connie out for a walk. Otherwise, the whole afternoon will be so long. What will she do?"
Tong Aino froze for a moment.
Connie quickly interjected, "No need to trouble Fifth Brother; I’ll stay with you at the hospital to keep Second Uncle company."
Tong Aino chuckled, "See, Connie is much more sensible than certain people."
Connie’s face flushed, and she lowered her gaze.
Yi Luowa slumped against the seat in defeat. Silly Connie was hopeless—she had created a chance for her, and yet she refused to take it.
Afraid of upsetting her, Connie hurriedly hooked her arm.
Yi Luowa glanced at her sideways, "You’re just too naive!"
Connie giggled and said, "With you protecting me, I’m not afraid even if I’m a little naive."
"I can’t protect you forever! You need to find yourself a good man to protect you. But remember, no matter who you find, you can’t pick Tong Fifth. He’s an ideal lover in theory but definitely not a good husband in reality."
Tong Aino turned to look over, "Who’s this Tong Fifth? Such a scumbag! Let me help you beat him up!"
Yi Luowa burst into laughter, "Shoo, shoo, shoo, us girls are talking. Why do you always butt in?"
Connie also laughed. Her gaze naturally drifted toward Tong Aino, but he turned his face away immediately.
Connie pinched her fingers and smiled self-deprecatingly. He still couldn’t forgive her. The warmth and affection he showed were reserved only for his family, while she was always met with his indifferent demeanor.
Yi Luowa sighed and leaned weakly against her shoulder, whispering, "Take it slow."
Connie smiled and nodded, wishing that one day she could be as cheerful and at ease as Yi Luowa when interacting with him and his family.
Very soon, they arrived at the hospital. As soon as Yi Luowa walked through the door, Yi Weiyang frowned, "Luowa, why have you been crying?"
Seeing the child with swollen eyes after just a day out, how could an uncle not feel distressed? A thought flashed through Yi Weiyang’s mind: if Luowa isn’t happy staying at their house, then this marriage arrangement might as well be called off.
"Second Uncle—" Yi Luowa pouted with a tearful voice, "Tong Airui led the team to Haotian. He left last night."
Yi Weiyang let out a long breath, but before he could fully exhale, he nearly choked again, "Airui went to war?!"
"Yes." Yi Luowa wore a pitiful expression and nodded.
"Second Uncle, my brother won’t be in danger. When he leads the team, he stays at the rear, managing brainwork tasks." Tong Aino and Connie followed along one after the other.
Seeing Connie carrying the fruit basket by herself, Yi Luowa shot a displeased look at Tong Aino. He really didn’t know how to cherish girls!
Connie, fearing Yi Luowa’s anger, quickly placed the fruit basket on the table and rushed to the bedside. "Hello, Second Uncle, I’m Connie, Luowa’s friend."
Yi Weiyang smiled warmly, "Hello."
"Second Uncle, this is my best friend, just as good as Holly." Yi Luowa hugged Connie’s arm and grinned.
Yi Weiyang pointed at her and chuckled, "You! One moment stormy, the next sunny. I swear, this half-life of mine is going to be entirely worn down by your antics."
Yi Luowa stuck out her tongue playfully, "Second Uncle, we’re about to go to Xiawu. Is there anything we need to prepare?"
"Everything’s ready. We don’t need to worry about anything. Oh right, Dr. Mai and Dr. Jimo both stopped by today. They both said they wanted to escort me to Xiawu. Airui assigned so many people; is it too much trouble for them?"
Yi Luowa turned to look at Tong Aino. Tong Aino shook his head. "I only know my brother had Old Seven follow along to Xiawu. I don’t know who arranged Shanshan."
"More people means more safety, so it’s fine." Yi Luowa smiled. If Tong Airui didn’t arrange it, then Jimo Shanshan must have volunteered. Maybe this trip to Xiawu will spark something between Uncle Slow and Aunt Slow!
"I think having more people makes it safer too." Tong Aino pulled out a chair and sat down.
Yi Luowa kicked his shoe, "Connie is still standing there!"
"There’s a bed and another chair. Are you saying Connie has her eye on my chair?" Tong Aino crossed his legs leisurely.
"Incorrigible!" Yi Luowa pulled Connie to sit on another chair and grumbled, "We’re not sitting anywhere he has sat."
"Actually, standing is fine for me. Sitting too long can give you a belly." Connie curled her lips slightly. At such moments, she needed to speak up for Tong Aino, or else Yi Luowa surely wouldn’t spare him.
"A case of Zhou Yu battling Huang Gai~ I’m done with the two of you." Yi Luowa pouted and perched on the edge of the bed.
Yi Weiyang playfully tapped her on the back of her hand, "Don’t just sit there. Go get some cold drinks for Aino and Connie."
"Tong Fifth, you’ve got a job now. I hereby pass you this glorious task." Yi Luowa grinned mischievously at Tong Aino.
"That won’t be necessary!" Aunt Li entered with several cups of iced tea.
Tong Aino raised an eyebrow and smiled, "Aunt Li still knows how to spoil me."
"Lazybones!" Yi Luowa glared at him and picked up a cup of iced tea, handing it to Connie first.
Connie thanked her and passed the iced tea to Tong Aino, "Fifth Brother, have some tea."
Tong Aino hesitated for a moment before accepting the drink.
Yi Weiyang noticed something between them and couldn’t help but smile as he glanced at the two kids. They actually made a pretty good match.
After sitting for a while, Yi Luowa started signaling Tong Aino with her eyes, indicating, "Take Connie outside for a walk!"
Tong Aino fixed his gaze on her and asked in confusion, "Fourth Sister-in-law, did you cry so much that your eyes went bad? Why are you blinking non-stop?"
Yi Luowa was so frustrated she almost rolled her eyes. This guy, why does he love to go against her so much?
Tong Aino chuckled, placed his teacup on the table, and said, "You all chat. I’m going to check on Old Slow."
"Why check on me? I’m perfectly fine." Mai Zekai strolled in, walking at his usual leisurely pace. His gaze immediately fell on Connie, and he smiled, "No wonder the magpies were chirping outside my office all morning. Turns out our lovable Princess Connie is here! Come, shake my hand, so I can soak up some of your royal charm."
Tong Aino shot a sinister glance at Mai Zekai’s outstretched hand.
