Chapter 466: Formation X-1
Chapter 466: Formation X-1
The God’s eyes never left the Leviathan Lord. He knew just how significant the death of that monster would be to the war effort. However, just as he was about to step forward and give chase, his entire body trembled. Streams of golden blood emerged from his eyes, ears, and nose. Pain could be seen in the face of the God as he closed his eyes and began to revolve his energy, trying to ease the pressure of the backlash wreaking havoc inside his body.
The human forces saw how the Multi-Arm Leviathan Lord fled. Still, before they could celebrate, they noticed the God was now incapacitated, clearly unable to assist them in handling the rest of the swarm. No one allowed themselves to be lost in thought—they continued fighting, striking with all their power at the Leviathans, butchering every chitinous and insect-like creature in their sight. The humans understood that the God’s appearance had given them a brief advantage, but now the battle on the ground was theirs to fight alone once more.
Back in the sky, the fight between Ouroboros and the Manticore Leviathan Lord had not ceased. The massive draconic-scaled wolf that Ouroboros had become bore deep and severe wounds all over his body, but the Manticore Leviathan Lord was similarly battered. Its flesh was marred with bite marks and lacerations, and its stinger was nowhere to be seen, torn away during their fierce exchanges. Each combatant struggled to maintain their footing in midair, blood and fragments of chitin drifting through the air.
In the distance, the earth continued trembling as the Depravita of Gluttony clashed with the Kraken Leviathan Lord. Their enormous forms tangled as they attempted to strangle and burn each other. Jormungandr’s World Snake had suffered severe wounds, glowing energy leaking from scorched rents in its flaming coils. Even worse, the energy that sustained this magical form would soon run out. Unlike Ouroboros, who could truly morph into that massive wolf, Jormungandr used magic to birth the World Snake. Though he could siphon energy from the surroundings, it would not last much longer.
Of course, the two Leviathan Lords also found themselves in a precarious situation. The swarm’s cohesion was wavering as humans hacked it apart at a shocking speed, and if the human powerhouses managed to free themselves from their current engagements, they could join forces with the Sky Seed Depravitas. Such reinforcements would overwhelm the Leviathan Lords. Both monstrous entities understood this—the hive mind weighed its options, trying to decide the next move.
Suddenly, the Manticore and Kraken Leviathan Lords abruptly looked into the distance. Their eyes widened with shock and dread as if they sensed a new and terrible threat approaching. Immediately, the hive mind issued a command, and both Leviathan Lords made their strength explode for an instant. They shoved away the two Sky Seed Depravitas and flashed into the distance as far as they could, retreating with desperate speed.
Jormungandr and Ouroboros exchanged glances, puzzled by this sudden turn of events. Why would the Leviathan Lords flee after pushing so hard until now? The answer came a few seconds later. They saw what seemed to be a dark red shooting star flashing through the sky toward their location. It carved a bright, ominous line of fire and lightning.
Freya also witnessed this spectacle. A wide smile appeared on her bloodied face, and with all the strength left in her lungs, she shouted: "Formation X-1!"
The sound of her voice carried across the battlefield, rallying the human forces. Upon hearing these words, every human warrior, from those in black armor to towering generals, cast their eyes into the distance with broad smiles before bursting into action. Their hearts thrummed with absolute thrill as if they had been waiting for this moment.
Immediately, the human forces began a rapid, disciplined retreat, withdrawing in such a way as to herd the Leviathan swarm into the tightest possible cluster. It seemed like a terrible strategy—after all, the swarm thrived on cohesion, and packing them together would only allow the Leviathans to unleash a surge that could shatter any defensive formation.
Unfortunately for the Levithans, before they could launch their united assault, the shooting star of fire and lightning that raced through the sky suddenly dived toward the cluster. Its descent broke the sound barrier repeatedly, booming across the battlefield as it accelerated.
"BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM!"
A colossal explosion of fire and lightning ravaged the area the next second. The shooting star impacted the ground with such force that it buried itself beneath the earth. This concentrated the destructive energies into that specific zone, producing a cataclysmic eruption.
Massive chunks of soil and rock were flung skyward, and the ground trembled violently. Everything within that impact zone—the tightly packed Levithans—was consumed by destructive energies. Drones were reduced to ash, and even mighty High Champion-level Leviathan warriors were obliterated, their bodies burned to charred husks in the blink of an eye.
The scorching shock waves radiated outward, reaching the human forces. They had purposefully arranged themselves so that the Golden Wave Legion, with their golden armor and fortified morale, stood at the forefront. These golden figures acted as a barrier, absorbing the brunt of the shock wave and protecting the rest of the troops behind them. Even so, the force was immense. The humans gritted their teeth and held their ground. Many stumbled, but none broke ranks.
For the human soldiers, this overwhelming destruction was more beautiful than any painting or rainbow. It meant the annihilation of more than half a million Levithans in one strike. Their plan had succeeded beyond all expectations, and the battlefield’s roar was now punctuated by fading Leviathan screams and human war cries of triumph. Yet things were far from over.
"BOOM!"
A blast echoed from the epicenter of the destruction as a figure emerged. Moving like an arc of lightning and fire, this being tore into the remaining Leviathans, destroying every monster that dared stand in his path.
"Continue killing," Vlad’s voice echoed across the battlefield.
His words filled the soldiers with renewed thrill and energy, washing away all the exhaustion of the relentless hours of fighting. Vlad was here; his presence radiated confidence and raw power.
