Chapter 305: Facing elite angels

The gargantuan serpent head of fire and lightning dove from the sky with overwhelming might, barreling straight toward the group of angels.

"Look out! Everybody move!" one of the High Champion angels shouted, panic flashing in his eyes as he saw the attack coming. The power it radiated seemed to border on that of a Guardian Tier spell.

Immediately, the angels scattered, wings beating frantically as they tried to escape. Just as the massive serpent head crashed into the earth, a thunderous explosion erupted.

"BOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM!"

The ground shook violently as if an earthquake had been triggered, and a wave of lightning and fire spread in all directions with devastating force.

Most angels managed to evade the direct blast, but four Champions were not as fortunate—the impact obliterated their bodies. Many others were not left unscathed; more than a dozen angels suffered severe wounds, their senses dulled by the numbing heat of the infernal flames.

Shocked and disoriented, the surviving angels looked toward the sky, searching for the source of the overwhelming attack. It was not hard to find the source of such destruction, as waves of Origin Force surged toward the sky, rewarding the entity for the massacre of the aliens.

The angels expected to see a monstrous entity responsible for such a destructive blow, but they were instead met with the sight of a small yellow cat, flames erupting from its wings. The cat hovered above them, looking down with an expression of disdain and disgust.

Focusing on the cat, however, turned out to be a fatal mistake.

A second later, a barrage of attacks erupted from the forest—small magma balls with overwhelming explosive power, arrows cloaked in shadows, rendering them nearly invisible, and three massive tornadoes of metallic blades and dark lightning that cut through the air like harbingers of death.

"¡AHHHHHHH!"

Screams of agony echoed across the battlefield as the angel Champions were struck, their bodies blasted apart or torn to pieces by the relentless assault.

The three High Champion angels immediately snapped into action, their training and instincts taking over. Despite the shock of the surprise attack, they knew they had to rally their remaining forces. But before they could even issue an order, two figures shot toward them with breathtaking speed.

One was a young woman with fierce determination blazing in her eyes, wielding a mace and shield; the other was a monstrous figure resembling a fiendish werewolf, dark energy coating his limbs as glowing runes flared across his body.

Freya charged forward, her eyes cold and focused as she poured energy into her mace. She swung toward one of the High Champion angels, who barely had time to raise his hammer in defense.

Her strike landed with such force that his entire body trembled before being sent flying dozens of meters. Freya’s eyes remained cold; although she had managed to push the angel away, she knew he would surely return to the battle soon.

Freya’s instincts screamed the next second, and she raised her shield to block the sword of another High Champion angel aiming for her face. Her gaze was as frigid as ice as she pushed the sword away and swung her mace with all her strength, intending to take the man’s head off.

However, the angel was not by any measure weak, managing to twist his body right at the last second, avoiding the mace before striking once more with his sword.

Freya dodged the blow as well, and her eyes grew sharp as she realized that the angel was stronger than any she had faced before—not in level, but definitely in martial skills.

Nearby, Ouroboros clashed with the final High Champion angel. Both adopted a brutal melee style, the angel using his fists in a unique boxing technique while Ouroboros fought like a beast, using claws and kicks with feral precision.

Their fight was a whirlwind of motion. The angel’s boxing style was sharp, his fists striking with rapid-fire precision. He used his wings like shields, deflecting Ouroboros’ claw strikes and countering with punches aimed at vital spots.

But the Depravita of Greed was relentless, dodging, weaving, and using his bestial strength to overwhelm the angel. He lunged forward with a vicious swipe, his claws tearing into the angel’s shoulder, leaving dark energy seeping into the wound.

The angel retaliated with a powerful uppercut, but Ouroboros twisted mid-air, avoiding the blow and slamming a brutal kick into the angel’s ribs. The sound of cracking bones echoed as the angel staggered, but his resolve remained unbroken. His wings flared out to strike at Ouroboros from both sides.

The Depravita dodged one wing while slashing through the other with his claw, blood spraying across the battlefield.

As Freya and Ouroboros engaged the High Champions, the Royal Guards charged headlong into the remaining angel Champions. The element of surprise had allowed them to eliminate many of the angels, but the surviving foes quickly regrouped, adopting disciplined battle formations. The fight was far from over, and the intensity of the battle escalated.

Clasius and Amara led the charge, their Force surging through their bodies as they bore down on the nearest group of angels. Several angels raised their shields in defense, but Clasius swung his massive bastard sword with shocking precision and strength.

The blade moved as if it weighed nothing, but in the split second before it struck, its weight increased exponentially. It crashed down with such devastating power that the angels were sent sprawling.

Amara seized the opening, her body a blur as she darted forward, twin daggers gleaming. She moved with surgical precision, striking between the angels’ chest plates and helmets, severing their throats before they could react. As the angels fell, Clasius was already at her side, the two of them covering each other’s backs as they butchered the remaining angels in their path.

On the flanks, barrages of arrows, explosive magma spheres, and metallic tornadoes tore through the battlefield as Mirena, Frank, and Roman unleashed their full power. Their attacks kept the remaining angels from overwhelming the warriors, maintaining the momentum of the ambush.
