Chapter 247: Amazo
Chapter 247: Amazo
Vlad and Ouroboros’s eyes were sharp as they gazed from the cover of a forest at a powerful demonic horde ten thousand strong, with several Champions among its ranks. Behind the duo were the Royal Guards and the rest of the battalion, all having already assimilated their Devil Bloodlines, which greatly enhanced their physical might and energy pool.
After finishing his runes, Vlad allowed the entire battalion to rest for a few days, and only once they were at their peak did he bring them to this place. Their goal was to defeat this demonic horde that had taken control over a large portion of Knight City.
The battalion detected the horde’s presence about a month ago, but they did not engage. Not only did the horde have powerful Champions, but even the common demonic beasts were more powerful than average, which made sense since no one weak could survive in Knight City. However, the true core of Ouroboros and the Royal Guards’ apprehension was something else.
After going through the bulk of the demonic forces, Vlad and Ouroboros focused on a three-meter-tall Abyssal whose aura triggered the instincts of the Depravitas.
The High Champion Abyssal boasted a powerfully built, muscular structure that emphasized his agility and strength, resembling that of a cheetah. The face of the demon was a blend of feline and demonic traits, with large, pointed ears that curved backward and sharp, curving horns that emerged from its head.
The body was sculpted with intricate, swirling patterns that resembled fur and engraved armor, giving him a mystical and ominous appearance. This monochrome palette was accented by the stark, glowing red of his eyes that seemed capable of catching even the slightest movement.
In place of paws, this demon had clawed hands. These claws looked deadly and capable of significant destruction, fitting for an Abyssal that always enhanced its body to the utmost level of destruction and power. On his back was a tail adorned with spikes or barbs, which could become a lethal weapon in combat.
Vlad’s eyes and the power of the A.I. Chip scanned the force as he sought the best way to engage. Normally, against a demonic horde, the best strategy would be a sneak attack, but they were positioned in the ruins of a town and did not seem like they would be moving anytime soon. They would have to strike directly unless they wanted to wait for weeks.
A sharp light appeared in Vlad’s eyes as a massive bone sword appeared in his hand. He gazed at Ouroboros and the rest of the forces, making sure everyone understood their mission.
The Depravita of Greed, the Royal Guards, and the battalion all nodded, the battle strategy clear in their minds as they tightened their grip on their weapons and prepared their spells.
---
Amazo was resting on top of a tattered building, his Abyssal Energy revolving around his body, slowly pushing his physical evolution and Level to the next tier. Suddenly, his eyes widened as he looked into the distance.
The High Champion Abyssal saw with shock how a group of humans marched toward the broken town. He was about to dismiss them as suicidal fools, as they were fewer than one hundred, while the demonic horde in the city was ten times that number. However, the next second, sharpness arose in his eyes as he felt the immense power running through their bodies, especially that of the man in the lead wielding a massive bone bastard sword.
The young man moved at a shocking speed, and every swing of his sword killed dozens of demonic beasts and injured many others. He acted as the spearhead, piercing into the horde, breaking their defenses, and making it easier for the rest to kill the demons around them.
Amazo could not help but clench his fists as he sensed the power of that young man, feeling a twinge of danger. However, the next second, a smile appeared on his face along with a ferocious killing intent. An Abyssal needed challenges, enemies that could push them to their limits, to tune with their core nature and evolve.
Just as the High Champion Abyssal was ready to flash toward the battlefield, his eyes narrowed. His Abyssal Energy burst, enhancing his body as he turned around just as a white figure flashed toward him.
Ouroboros had attempted to lunge at the High Abyssal Champion while the demon was distracted by the charge of Vlad and the others. However, the demon detected his presence and managed to catch his claws.
A majestic and impressive scene unfolded the next second on top of the tattered building as the High Champion Abyssal, resembling a demonic cheetah, and the Depravita of Greed, in the form of a fiendish werewolf, crossed claws, each of them exerting immense pressure and power as they attempted to overwhelm the other.
Ouroboros’s eyes were full of killing intent as he exploited his Force to the limit to push back the Abyssal. Still, Amazo was not any weaker than the Depravita of Greed, and his desire to kill did not fall behind. The strength they unleashed was so great that it made the tattered building beneath their feet tremble until finally, it could not endure any longer.
"RUMBLE!"
The entire building collapsed, making the town tremble and a cloud of dust spread everywhere, hiding the figures of the Depravita of Greed and the Abyssal.
Vlad noticed the destruction, but while he was worried about Ouroboros, he could not afford to be distracted. The only way the battalion could take down the massive horde without suffering casualties was if he led the charge, so Ouroboros was on his own.
Ouroboros was trying to find his footing among the debris left by the broken building as his vision adapted to the cloud of dust. His eyes suddenly widened as he saw a massive metallic pillar shooting at him like a spear. Deploying what could only be described as supernal martial skill and reflex, he was able to deflect the massive metal pillar.
However, before the Depravita could celebrate his success, he saw the High Abyssal Champion lunging toward him. Amazo had hidden beneath the shadow of the metallic pillar and his eyes showed viciousness as he already pictured his fangs piercing the neck of the fiendish werewolf. Yet, before he could reach his target, a kick landed point-blank on his jaw, sending him flying away.
The High Champion Abyssal’s strategy was very good and would have fooled Ouroboros if he had only relied on his senses, but the A.I. Chip had already shown him the presence of the demon, which was why he was more than able to respond.
Ouroboros smiled as he flashed toward the High Abyssal Champion, ready to deliver a devastating onslaught. Just as Ouroboros was about to catch up with Amazo, the demon regained control over his body and connected a devastating kick to the Depravita’s chest, sending him hurtling away.
It took nearly one hundred meters before Ouroboros finally regained control over his body, and a trail of blood emerged from the corner of his mouth. He took a deep breath as he regained his footing and gazed at the High Champion Abyssal, not daring to get cocky over a lucky strike.
Amazo’s eyes were cold and full of viciousness as he adjusted his battle strategy, now understanding that his enemy’s perception was something he could not fool. He would have to rely on his other enhanced attributes.
Ouroboros and Amazo circled each other warily, both of them assessing their opponent with sharp eyes and feral instincts. Neither dared to be reckless as the power of the other made them wary.
With a sudden burst of speed, Ouroboros lunged forward, claws outstretched. Amazo met his charge with equal ferocity, their bodies colliding in a thunderous clash that shook the ground beneath them. They grappled for dominance, each trying to overpower the other with raw strength and martial skill.
Ouroboros twisted his body, using his momentum to break free from Amazo’s grip. He lashed out with a vicious swipe of his claws, aiming for the demon’s exposed flank. Amazo evaded the attack with a swift sidestep, retaliating with a powerful backhand that struck Ouroboros across the jaw, sending him staggering.
The Depravita of Greed recovered quickly, his eyes blazing with killing intent. He launched himself at Amazo again, this time feinting to the left before delivering a bone-crushing kick to the demon’s midsection. Amazo grunted in pain, his muscles absorbing the impact, but he was far from finished.
Using the momentum from the kick, Amazo spun around, his tail lashing out like a whip. Ouroboros barely had time to react, raising his arm to block the strike. The force of the blow sent him skidding backward, but his fierce resolve remained unshaken.
The battlefield around them was a chaotic blur of motion and sound, but for Ouroboros and Amazo, nothing else mattered except the opponent before them.
