Chapter 224: Vlad vs Huntu
Chapter 224: Vlad vs Huntu
The night sky over Sunshine City crackled with tension as the ten-thousand-strong demonic horde clashed with Jormungandr, Freya, and the dark demon summon. Lightning-infused flames cast a storm of chaos and destruction on the battlefield.
Jormungandr’s eyes glowed with Magic as he attacked with everything he had. He unleashed devastating spells with massive areas of effect, each explosion killing dozens of demons in an instant and wounding hundreds more. The ground trembled with the sheer force of the spells, creating craters where demons once stood.
Freya was a whirlwind of destruction. She charged headlong into the heart of the horde, her mace, imbued with totemic energy, swung with unstoppable force, shattering demon bones. It did not take long for her to find the demon Champions, her brutal strikes pushing them back.
The dark demon summons, controlled by the A.I. Chip of the Depravita of Gluttony, moved with coordinated precision. Operating in groups of seven, they sliced through the demonic horde like a well-oiled machine. Their dark forms weaved in and out of the enemy ranks, preventing any cohesive formation from taking shape. With razor-sharp claws and fangs, they tore through the demonic beasts, leaving a trail of carnage in their wake.
Despite their overwhelming numbers, the demonic horde could not withstand the relentless assault. Of course, such massive casualties on the enemy side also came with losses on the group led by the small yellow cat and the viking princess, but that did not matter.
The dark demon summons were expendable, and it did not matter how many of them perished as long as they ensured that the horde remained disorganized, unable to mount a coordinated defense.
A few hundred meters from the chaos and destruction, Vlad and Huntu faced each other, both exuding lethal intent. The black eyes of the Depravita of Wrath gazed into the fiery eyes of the High Abyssal Champion, and it was clear to both that this would be a battle to the death, without capitulation or mercy.
Vlad’s eyes glowed with determination, the power of the Inferno Comet Runic Set enhancing his body’s endurance while his Thunder Lord Bloodline improved his speed. His twin blades shimmered with demonic fire and lightning as a mantle of Force covered their edges, making them blunt weapons.
The High Champion Abyssal had gone through who knows how many modifications to become a skeletal warrior, and his bones were resilient to cuts. Vlad used his Force to overcome that weakness. It was hard to keep his Force in that state for long, but the A.I. Chip took care of that burden while also analyzing every move of the enemy, providing feedback to Vlad in real time.
"Good, grow stronger! The more powerful you are, the more I will learn by killing you!" Huntu’s smile grew wider as he saw the enhancement in power of his enemy. His body, towering over Vlad, radiated raw power, as his mantle of dark red lightning flickered ominously and with even more power.
"¡BOOM!" "¡BOOM!"
The battle began with a sudden surge of movement, with the Depravita of Wrath and the High Champion Abyssal charging so powerfully that they shattered the ground beneath their feet.
Vlad darted forward, his blades cutting through the air with precision. Huntu met him head-on, his bastard sword swinging with immense force. The clash of metal echoed through the battlefield, and Vlad’s eyes widened as he felt the overwhelming physical power behind the bastard sword.
Before Huntu’s bastard sword could overwhelm him, the arcs of lightning that covered Vlad’s body grew much more powerful, and without him needing to make a single move, they pushed his body to the side.
Vlad narrowly avoided the powerful strike by using Lightning Charge to zip to the side, and immediately used the Bloodline Ability again to flash forward, reappearing behind Huntu and aiming for his exposed back. Now that he had become a Champion, his energy pool was massive enough to allow him to utilize Lightning Charge continuously during the battle.
Huntu was surprised by the lightning-fast moves of the enemy, and his eyes narrowed as the young man vanished from his field of view. However, it took him less than a second to react, moving his bastard sword with unnatural speed, his mantle of lightning enhancing his movements.
Vlad could already see his blades reaching Huntu’s neck when suddenly the bastard sword appeared in his path, the force of the impact sending shockwaves through the ground. Vlad’s eyes narrowed as he felt the sheer strength behind Huntu’s defense, and he felt he had just hit a pillar of unbreakable steel.
If the offensive power of the High Abyssal Champion was immense, then his defensive power was off the charts. Vlad knew he could not break that defense, so he would have to find an opening or make one.
Vlad’s movements became a blur as he utilized Lightning Charge to dart around the battlefield, striking at Huntu from multiple angles. Each time Huntu countered, Vlad would retreat in a flash of lightning, avoiding the deadly blows by mere inches. The exchange between the blades and the bastard sword continued, each collision more intense than the last.
Rage began to arise in the eyes of the High Champion Abyssal as he could not connect a single blow to the enemy. It was as if the small human could predict every move he made.
The High Champion Abyssal was not wrong since the A.I. Chip did foreshadow every move he made and warned Vlad. Of course, Vlad would not explain this to the demon and attacked ferociously as he found an opening, aiming his blades at the rib cage.
"Hmph! Don’t be so cocky!" With a roar, Huntu unleashed a blast of dark red lightning from his chest, unleashing arcs of lightning in all directions.
Vlad’s eyes widened. The A.I. Chip warned him about the attack, but he was not fast enough to dodge it, so he barely managed to raise his guard before the force sent him skidding back, his arms trembling from the impact and blood leaking from the corner of his mouth. The damage would have been much worse if not for the Thunderstrike Obsidian Armor’s resistance to lightning attacks.
His internal organs were trembling, but Vlad knew he could not stop moving, as the High Champion Abyssal would not let go of this chance.
Huntu charged, his bastard sword descending in a powerful arc. Vlad used Lightning Charge to evade, reappearing to the side at the last second and saving his life. However, while the Depravita of Wrath evaded the bastard sword, he was too weak to avoid the backhand strike that sent him flying.
Vlad crashed into the ground, pain radiating through his body. It was just a blow from a fist, yet the power was so immense that the A.I. Chip made it clear there were small fractures on his skull. Luckily, as the damage and pain arose, he could feel the Heart of Wrath activating, the wounds fueling his strength.
The power of the wrathful energy allowed Vlad to regain his focus and stand straight before Huntu could charge after him and finish the job. ’I need to be faster and more precise.’
Even in that state, Vlad’s mind was able to think of a way to overcome this danger. He took a deep breath as the energy and power coursing through the blades grew higher before flashing forward.
Huntu’s eyes gleamed with sadistic glee as he flashed forward as well. "Let’s see how long it takes you to break!" he taunted, seeking to draw the hatred and rage of his enemy to make the battle more exciting.
Vlad didn’t respond with words. Instead, he focused his energy, his blades crackling with intensified lightning and fire. He darted forward again, this time feinting to the left before quickly switching to the right, aiming for Huntu’s exposed ribs.
Huntu blocked the attack, but Vlad anticipated it. Using the momentum, he spun around, slashing at Huntu’s back. The blade cut deep, and Huntu roared in pain and fury. There was no blood or open wounds in the High Abyssal Champion, but the blow carried so much force that it generated microfractures on the vertebrae.
The High Abyssal Champion endured the pain and swung his bastard sword wildly, forcing Vlad to retreat with another Lightning Charge.
The battlefield was a whirlwind of movement as Vlad and Huntu exchanged blows. Vlad’s precision and agility kept him alive, but Huntu’s sheer power and the protective mantle of lightning made it nearly impossible to land a decisive blow.
Vlad knew he could improve his power to unprecedented levels by using the full power of Heart of Wrath, but that was unwise. While the power of the A.I. Chip could leave him in a berserker state, there was no way he could accept spending an entire month in a coma healing.
There were no trump cards for this fight, and Vlad could only rely on the power of his blades to face the massive skeletal Level 12 High Abyssal Champion.
