Chapter 218: Knight City (I)
Chapter 218: Knight City (I)
Knight City was one of the many rural cities of Constantine Country, with large areas of empty fields where beasts and farm animals of all types wandered around, and extensive forests that held all sorts of flora and fauna.
Of course, it also had developed towns where thousands of people lived. Right now, walking to the ruins of one of these towns was a group of humanoids. All of them carried majestic weapons covered in demonic blood, but they were not part of any human force, as marked by the wings on their backs.
The group of angels comprised nearly eighty soldiers, all of them very powerful and radiating a vibrant aura. None of this group had a power level lower than Level 5, showcasing their might. As for the one leading the group, he was even more impressive, with flaming dark wings on his back and an imposing body that seemed to generate a crushing pressure on his surroundings.
This was a very powerful force capable of taking down most threats that could arise in a New Plane, yet the expressions on their faces were ones of annoyance and exhaustion, and there were old wounds on their bodies.
Jeremiah, the leader of the angelic force, had the worst expression of all. He was part of a noble family and had great hopes for the New Plane. The angel expected to gain great merit by conquering large portions of the world and then handing them over to his family once the world reached a higher dimension, but nothing had gone according to his plan.
According to his original strategy, Jeremiah began to rally the humans of Knight City, making them a military force dependent on him. That was the standard method for angels, but just as he took control of Wonders Town, all went to hell.
They had barely secured the place when a massive demonic horde led by an Abyssal marched toward Wonders Town. Although the angels won, the fight took the lives of all the humans.
Of course, Jeremiah did not really care about the death of the humans, but the loss of manpower made the next battle against a Monster pack extremely serious and deadly. A third of the angels perished during the fight, and many more were wounded.
From that day on, everything went downhill. The angels were forced to constantly fight either demonic hordes or Monster packs, and the battles seemed never-ending.
"What is that bitch taking so long!?" Jeremiah could not help but curse out loud as he saw the state of his troops. The bitch he was referring to was none other than Orion.
The two noble angels had spoken a lot over the past couple of months, and Orion had promised to provide help to Jeremiah and his troops in Knight City after taking control of Inkmetal City. However, Jeremiah had not heard news of the woman in months, and there was not much he could do other than wait.
The rest of the angels heard his words but simply shook their heads, no longer bothered by the tantrums of their inept leader. However, their eyes widened the next second as they saw a white flash reach them, tackle Jeremiah, and ram him into one of the broken buildings with such strength that it made the entire structure tremble!
Although shocked, these angels had not survived the hellscape that was Knight City by luck, and their battle awareness was immense. In less than a second, they located the origin of the white flash and saw an army of sixty warriors marching toward them.
Immediately, the Warriors moved forward and made their Force explode, ready to intercept the march of the enemy, as the Mages positioned themselves in the back and began chanting their spells. It was a textbook maneuver, and a very effective one, except when there was an assassin.
"Ahhhhh!"
The angel Warriors heard screams of agony echo behind them and saw a young woman in black leather armor appear among the Mages, unleashing a massive attack with her daggers and shadows, killing four and wounding many others in a second!
Amara smiled as she felt the torrent of Origin Force enter her Soul Dimension. She felt the killing gaze of the Warriors, and she just melted into shadows and vanished in the distance, just as a rain of deadly arrows, explosive projectiles, and metal tornadoes crashed into the angels.
"Charge!" Clasius shouted as he led the warriors into the angelic forces, taking advantage of their disarray and splitting them in half, making them easier targets for the Mages and weakening their overall power!
Immediately, a massive and bloody fight took place between the forces of the Xaos Kingdom led by the Royal Guards and the angels. They had been following the angelic group for the last week, monitoring their movements and waiting for the right time to strike, which presented itself as the force came back from subduing a Monster horde.
Taking advantage of their energy and stamina depletion, the Royal Guards attacked right when the group was returning to their base and felt most secure, lowering their guard.
Initially, the Royal Guards had intended to strike the group as soon as they saw the angels, but the orders of Overlord were absolute, so they followed the plan, including the one that would take care of the strongest angel.
"BOOOOOMMMMM!"
Just as the humans and angels were clashing, a massive fiery explosion took place at the base of a building with so much power that it began to collapse! All eyes could not help but turn to that destruction as that was the place where the white flash had taken the noble angel.
As the building bent and collapsed, two figures emerged from the blast. One was Jeremiah, whose body was covered in flames and had a missing piece of his shoulder, crippling his right arm.
The second was a fearsome figure, standing two and a half meters tall. Embers of dark flames all over his body, yet he stood as if nothing. The fire that could melt metal could not burn his flesh.
