Chapter 215: Canvas City (II)
As the golden giant raised his hand and clenched his fist, the entire army halted their march instantly two hundred meters away from the civilians, their discipline evident in their seamless coordination. His eyes, sharp and discerning, scanned the trembling civilians used as meat shields before turning his focus to the duo on top of the wall.
Marlon and Tomas felt their hearts stop as the giant glanced at them. It seemed they had incited his wrath, but the duo clenched their fists and glanced at each other before nodding, showing pure coldness. They would not give up power and would rather see the servants and everyone else perish than go back to the lives they used to have.
The golden giant noticed the coldness and resolve in the duo, but he no longer paid them attention. Instead, he raised his index finger and circled the air. That signal was all that was needed for thirty Mages to move forward, clasping their hands and channeling their energy.
The brothers activated their Force, fearing a barrage of attacks would come. But what emerged from those thirty Mages was not fire or lightning but a dense fog that soon fell over the thousands of civilians in front of the Great Shield Military Base.
The civilians had been horrified when they saw such a massive army. Their fear had paralyzed them, so they did nothing as the fog reached them, and the next second, they fell to the ground.
Marlon and Tomas were shocked as they saw the civilians falling unconscious, realizing that the fog was the cause. It also affected them, but their constitution was much stronger, so they only felt a slight dizziness.
However, they did not have time to worry about that as the giant charged forward, moving at a shocking speed for someone so massive. Just as it seemed he would rampage over the civilians, bloodline force burst from his body. His figure reached a mind-wopping six meters in height, growing even more massive, and he leaped over a dozen meters into the air.
The two brothers saw in horror as the massive figure of the golden man was about to fall on them, so they immediately jumped back into the Great Shield Military Base right before the crash.
"BOOOOMMMM!"
All the criminals inside the Great Shield Military Base watched with shock and dread as the figure of the golden giant descended from the sky and took down a portion of the wall with his fall. His massive figure soon rose from the crash site, generating a shadow that covered everything.
The golden giant glanced at the criminals who cowered and did not dare to move in his presence. There was disdain in his eyes, but he did not deviate from the plan and spoke coldly, "I am Grand Marshal Anglius from the Xaos Kingdom. Surrender now, and I promise some degree of lenience. Resist, and you will all die, your bodies fading from the world, and your souls sent into hell for all eternity."
There were over three hundred criminals, all of them believing themselves to be tough and brave, enjoying bullying others. Yet as they gazed at the giant, fear exploded in their hearts, making them tremble.
However, not all were paralyzed by fear. A figure flashed toward Anglius from the right, moving very fast, his entire body turning into rock. Tomas’s fists were enveloped in Force as he sought to strike the giant’s head, using the element of surprise to overpower the enemy.
Unfortunately for Tomas, before he could reach Anglius, the giant’s hand caught him in mid-air. Shock and horror appeared on his face but did not last long as the next second, Anglius blasted him into the ground, blood leaking from his mouth as he fell unconscious.
Anglius effortlessly dealt with the bulky man, yet Marlon managed to get close enough to land a ferocious kick covered in bloody energy right into his helmet. A cold smile appeared on the thin man as he felt the blow connect, but it immediately froze as immense pain assaulted him. It felt as if he had just kicked a massive building, and the bones in his leg fractured.
His pain did not last long as Anglius grabbed the leg that hit his helmet and slammed Marlon into the ground with so much strength that he created a small crater. The Grand Marshal of the Xaos Kingdom had already become a Level 6 Warrior with a Champion Tier Bloodline and a Rank 2 Runic Set that enhanced his physical attributes and endurance. That, plus his Gifts, granted him a body that the blows of those two could never shatter.
The criminals could not believe what they were seeing. They followed Marlon and Tomas not due to loyalty but because of the duo’s strength, yet they were taken down with such ease that it made one wonder how they had survived so far.
The next second, the eyes of the criminals turned to the hole made by the golden giant as one hundred warriors marched forward, all of them unleashing an aura that seemed it would suffocate them.
"I will say it one last time. Surrender and obtain a chance to live. Resist, and be assured that your demise will be horrible." Grand Marshal Anglius spoke with a cold voice as he straightened his giant figure, his hands holding the bodies of the two unconscious brothers who continued to bleed.
Terror finally overcame any notion of fighting back in the group, and they threw their weapons to the ground.
Grand Marshal Anglius softly nodded before signaling the soldiers to restrain the criminals. He then glanced at the communication gem embedded in his glove. "Overlord, we have taken the Great Shield Military Base. Everything went according to your plan. They placed the civilians as human shields, and we managed to knock them unconscious, avoiding casualties."
The gem glowed the next second as an ancient voice echoed, "Well done, Grand Marshal Anglius. Now proceed to the questioning protocols. The death row criminals must be sent back to the Silent Wind Military Base."
"Yes!" Grand Marshal Anglius immediately nodded, his eyes full of conviction and respect. He had spent less than two months in Canvas City, but thanks to following the plans of Overlord, they had advanced so much that they were already in control of over 80%!
