Chapter 168: Demon Runic Sets and devil bloodlines

Orion saw the soldiers with devil bloodlines marching toward her troops and knew she needed to do something. Nearly twenty had died or could no longer fight due to the devastating High Champion Spell, but almost sixty angels remained, ready to fight the humans.

While those angels were wounded and disoriented, they were all warriors sent from Heaven with years of training, and Orion knew that if she managed to lead them properly, they could turn the tables.

"Hear..." Orion’s command was cut short as her senses screamed danger. A figure, cloaked in dark armor crafted from obsidian rock and pulsating with a crimson glow, materialized before her.

Orion was taken aback by the figure’s swiftness, and her shock deepened as she beheld the twin swords, fashioned from the same obsidian material as his armor, and the murderous glint in his eyes.

The one in the armor was none other than Vlad, the architect of the entire plan. As for the armor and swords he was using, they were Rank 2 Alchemy Artifacts made by Jormungandr using the refined rocks obtained from the peak of Nagan Mountain.

These were the Thunderstrike Obsidian Armor and Twin Blades, artifacts of immense power that could greatly enhance a Champion Warrior. They not only amplified lightning powers but also bolstered all demonic abilities, a perfect match for Vlad’s formidable skills.

The armor allowed Vlad’s Thunder Lord Bloodline to express even more destructive power, changing his sky-blue lightning to crimson. While he did not have a demon ability, he did have the Inferno Comet Runic Set, which achieved flawless synergy with the armor.

Vlad’s entire body and soul radiated killing intent as he lunged toward Orion. Amara had exposed herself to immense risk by following his plan, and if he were to lose this chance, what kind of leader would that make him?

Orion knew that without her guidance, her men would suffer a horrible fate, but as Vlad’s figure approached and the sense of danger grew, she chose to focus on herself. The angel’s aura exploded as she levitated from the ground and attempted to put distance between herself and the man in dark obsidian armor, creating walls of fire between them.

As the first wall of fire appeared in his path, Vlad only showed a cold smile before waving one of his blades. Immediately, a massive arc of crimson lighting struck the firewall, weakening it before he jumped across. The armor protected him, but it still felt like his body was burning. Yet, he only clenched his teeth and flashed forward toward Orion, his killing intent growing.

"BOOM!" "BAAAAMMMMM!" "ZNNN!"

Just as Vlad chased after Orion, the rest of the bloodline soldiers and Royal Guards finally clashed with the disoriented angels, each burning with killing intent and bloodlust. However, even in that state, they were able to keep their composure, maintain a tight formation, and protect each other as they attacked the angels.

Cazan stood in his colossus form, his massive metallic body radiating immense strength, as he struck an angel with his mace. The weapon carried immense power, and the moment it landed on the angel’s chest, a shock wave full of demonic flames was released, destroying the man’s internal organs and sending him flying away!

The devil bloodline inside the colossus enhanced strength and resilience, but its key power was unleashing shock waves of devil energy with each strike. The power of his Infernal Berserker Runic Set acted in synergy, enhancing the shock waves of devil energy with demonic fire, increasing the destructive power of any blunt strike.

Next to Cazan was a man in dark armor, wielding a black sword and shield. Clasius was using equipment stolen from the soldiers of the Azarin Empire, and his skills were nothing short of amazing.

Clasius’ flaming sword descended on an angel, its speed and strength rising exponentially as he increased its weight at the perfect moment, cutting the angel’s head in two. Not even a second later, he moved his shield to the left before enhancing its weight as well, blocking a spear.

The angel’s eyes widened as the skill of the man shocked him, unable to understand how someone could deploy such ability with the sword and shield. Unfortunately, the next thing he saw was a sword that cut his head, killing him.

The key behind Clasius’s skill was the synergy between his Runic Set, made of demon blood, and his devil bloodline. The Demon-Forged Warrior Runic Set enhanced his strength, speed, and endurance while allowing him to channel demon fire. His devil bloodline improved his constitution and enhanced his combat skills, making his body react much faster, and his instincts become much sharper.

The angels, though shocked by the strength and abilities of the duo, remained resolute and ready to attack. However, it was at that moment that the power of the spellcasters struck.

A set of flying daggers flashed toward the angels from the right flank. The daggers did not carry great power individually. Yet, they were combined by arcs of electricity, forming massive drills that immediately burst through one of the angels before flashing to the other.

The one behind such an attack was Mirena. The Mage with domain over metal power had risen exponentially by channeling the power of her Gift, Metallic Mage’s Shield Runic Set, and devil bloodline. She could control metal at an incredibly minute level, creating that majestic and destructive construct, manipulating it with her mind.

Just as the angels were trying to figure out how to handle that lightning twister, dozens of projectiles flew toward them from the right flank. The projectiles were extremely fast, each with a trail of fire pushing it forward.

Confusion painted the angels’ faces as they saw those projectiles. They were fast but small and did not seem like they could do much damage, so they simply raised their weapons and shields to defend themselves, but that was a great mistake.

"Boom!" "Boom!" "Boom!" "Boom!" "Boom!" "Boom!" "Boom!"

The moment those projectiles reached the angels, all the energy contained inside them exploded, generating massive explosions that sent the angels flying away and killing those foolish enough to use their bodies to defend themselves.

The Royal Guard behind the attack was none other than Frank, the Mage with the Ember Shoot Gift. The devil bloodline he had acquired was attuned to fire. It was not fire enhancement like Jormungandr but instead, fire manipulation.

It allowed the man to use small trails of flame to propel his projectiles forward, and that was just the start. Thanks to his Runic Set, he could channel explosive energy into each projectile, and his devil bloodline allowed him to enhance that exponentially.

The combined attack from the two Warriors and two Mages pushed the angels on the right flank to their limit. Some of the more seasoned angels were able to keep their composure and try to get together and make a defensive formation. Unfortunately for those veterans, dark arrows would fall from the sky at a shocking speed and pierce their heads.

Roman stood on the rocky cliff, his eyes cold as he fired arrow after arrow at a shocking cadence. There were three powers in his arrows that made them so dangerous. First, his Gift allowed control over the wind, granting superb precision and piercing power. The Runic Set channeled demonic fire in them, and finally, the devil bloodline poured the power of shadow energy into them, making the arrows nearly invisible during the night.

Freya glanced at the battlefield and stood before Amara, protecting the Royal Guard, until the viking detected how a small cat finally appeared next to them.

Jormungandr’s face was pale as the High Champion Spell took nearly all his energy and the use of his Depravita Ability. Fighting against the angels would be too much, but he still had more than enough power to protect Amara.

As soon as Freya saw the small yellow cat nodding, she turned her focus to the angel she had sent flying away. The man was powerful and could turn the tables if left unchecked, so she flashed toward the forest at full speed without hesitation.

Kor was just emerging from the forest when he saw the bloody battlefield the paved road had become. He was a seasoned soldier and knew the rest of the angels needed order if they wanted to face the humans, but he did not even have time to say a word as Freya was already before him, striking with her mace.

’Damn it!’ Kor shouted in his mind as he raised his massive bastard sword, using it as a shield just as the hammer struck, sending him flying away with such might that he shattered the trees in his path!

Kor was very powerful, being a Level 10 angel with a Guardian Tier Bloodline, only inferior to Orion in terms of noble status. Unfortunately, he was facing Freya, whose body and totemic energy pool had risen to the High Champion Tier!
