Chapter 151: Speaking with fiends
Chapter 151: Speaking with fiends
A sharp light appeared in Vlad’s eyes as he adopted a meditative position on the ground and closed his eyes. He needed to be in top condition for the next task, as any flaw or weakness could lead to severe consequences not only for him but for all the people of the Silent Wind Military Base.
Five hours went by before Vlad’s focus reached its peak. He headed to his runic laboratory, gathering all the components for the Vengeful Runic Formation.
One of the components was a large glowing sphere that generated a massive amount of energy, clearly the Lightning Core that Vlad had risked his life to obtain. Many more materials spread on the ground, but the most imposing ones were the dark body of a demonic entity four meters tall and a bulging humanoid creature with wings.
These were the corpses of Arasbus and Ion, the two Champions from Abyss and Heaven that Vlad had killed. For this formation, he needed bodies that could arouse hatred in his target, and these two were perfect for the task.
Vlad was alone on the underground level of the tower, as he could not allow anyone inside, including Freya and even Jormungandr. What he was about to do was extremely dangerous, and he could not afford to lose concentration for even a second.
"Let’s do this." A sharp and solemn light appeared in Vlad’s eyes as he took out his runic pen from his space ring and began to work. His eyes focused on the corpses of the Abyssal demon and the angelic Knight as he started to inscribe runes on them.
The name of the runes on the corpses was Rune of Vengeance. It amplified the hatred and vengeance emanating from the bodies, creating a powerful lure for the entities Vlad sought to draw.
Under his masterful strokes and movements of the runic pen, Vlad inscribed intricate runes around the corpses, both through their flesh and even opening them up to spread the runic lines through their bones.
Just inscribing the Rune of Vengeance on the duo was more complicated than a single Rank 2 Runic Set, proving just how complex and powerful the Vengeful Runic Formation was. Vlad did not dare to lose focus and carried on.
Once Vlad finished with the corpses, he focused on the ground and began with the Rune of Summoning. This rune facilitated the summoning process, creating a pathway for the entity’s consciousness to establish communication.
Although the tower’s surface was extremely solid and hard, the runic pen was able to generate a large, complex rune circle by using Vlad’s Force to sharpen its edge.
Next, Vlad placed the corpses of Arasbus and Ion inside the Rune of Summoning and continued with the Rune of Vengeful Communication. This rune established a clear line of communication between the summoner and the entity, allowing for interaction and negotiation.
Runic lines expanded from the bodies of the hated races into the Rune of Summoning, fusing both into a single formation. At this point, Vlad felt a sense of fatigue.
The young man had been working for more than twenty hours, so he chose to sleep before proceeding. Only after his mind was fully rested did Vlad continue with the last part.
The final component of the Vengeful Runic Formation was the Rune of Obscurity. The type of entity Vlad sought to attract saw demons and angels with nothing but hatred, but they also saw humans as delicious food, especially those in a New Plane.
That was why Vlad needed to hide the coordinates and location of Terra. If he were to draw entities of that realm into the New Plane, there was no doubt the Plane Will would loathe him for that.
It was one thing if Vlad failed to draw the entity’s consciousness, but something entirely different if he allowed the creature to locate Terra, sending its legion into the New Plane to start a carnage. No matter what, this rune could not fail.
After several hours of ensuring every single runic line in the Rune of Obscurity was flawless, Vlad nodded and placed the Lightning Core in the center of the Vengeful Runic Formation.
"A.I. Chip, monitor the runic formation at all times and estimate the power in the consciousness of the entities that seek to arrive. If they are too strong and could forcefully break the Rune of Obscurity, immediately cut the connection."
[Beep! Task designated!]
The A.I. Chip’s reaction time was greater than his, and it was able to perceive things Vlad could not, so there was no better guardian.
Vlad took a deep breath, and determination appeared on his face. The young man knew he had done everything well, and it was time to begin. He sent a command, and the energy surged from the Lightning Core into the Vengeful Runic Formation.
Glowing malevolent energy did not take long to emerge from the runic lines surrounding the bodies of Arabus, Ion, and other components. Immediately, the power of spatial distortion began to arise as the Vengeful Runic Formation transformed into a beacon in space-time, designed to attract the attention of those who hated the life forms of Abyss and Heaven.
Vlad’s eyes were razor-sharp as he pushed his concentration to the limit, not allowing himself even to blink as he waited silently. Finally, the Vengeful Runic Formation began to glow with greater intensity as an entity attempted to establish a communication channel.
A dark fog began to rise from the Vengeful Formation, but its origin did not come from the runic lines or the energy sources but from the entity on the other side of the communication channel. It did not take long for a phantom face to form, resembling a demonic entity.
’No! It is not demonic, it’s devilish!’ Vlad took a deep breath as he saw the entity’s consciousness arising, realizing it was a devil, a life from Hell!
Many life forms in the universe hated angels and demons, but none more than devils from Hell. The ones Vlad had been seeking to contact with the Vengeful Runic Formation were these scheming creatures known for their lust for pacts and contracts.
The devil fog soon completed its formation, manifesting a head that looked around the room before focusing on Vlad. "It has been several millennia since a human dares summon me."
An archaic and hoarse voice emerged from the fog, glancing down at Vlad as if looking at a child, waiting for him to prostrate in his presence.
"You are weak and insignificant, but I can feel the presence of a beautiful and vibrant world. Break any concealment formation in place so I can see a little more. Do it, and I will grant you my devil power." The devil entity paused at this point before a sense of coldness and brutality appeared in its eyes. "Force me to do it myself, and I will make sure to cage your soul for all eternity."
Vlad did not say a word, remaining in silence as he gazed at the devil fog, before finally a robotic voice echoed inside his mind.
[Beep! The entity can barely keep the communication channel open and is forcing the overconsumption of the Lightning Core’s energy!
The chance that the devil entity can establish a space channel and send desired components is less than 1.7%!]
Immediately, disdain appeared on Vlad’s face as he heard those words. The power of this devil’s soul was so weak it could barely maintain its presence, forcing the formation to provide the energy. How could Vlad ever expect to obtain anything from it if it could not sustain itself?
The devil entity noticed Vlad’s disdain and immense fury appeared on its face. "How dare you, puny human, to use those eyes to look down upon the great...."
"Restart the search." Vlad did not even bother to hear the rest of the devil’s words. He commanded the A.I. Chip to cut the communication and search for someone new.
Under the control of the A.I. Chip, the Vengeful Runic Formation broke the connection, making the devil fog vanish before searching for a new devil entity. Several minutes passed, and nothing happened, but suddenly, the runic lines began to glow, this time with much more power than before, as the power of the consciousness on the other side used its own energy to ensure stable transmission.
A small smile appeared on Vlad’s face as he saw that since it meant that this devil entity would surely have the power to transfer objects from Hell to Terra. However, Vlad’s smile did not last long. Suddenly, time seemed to freeze, and two white demonic eyes appeared above the Runic Formation.
Vlad felt his entire body freeze as he saw those white demonic eyes, and his mind could not process what was happening. In the next second, everything around him turned dark as the runic lines that glowed through the tower’s foundation vanished, replaced by hundreds of white demonic eyes.
