Chapter 150: Xaos Tower’s subterranean level
A shocking scene assaulted the people of the Silent Wind Military Base as they saw Grand Marshal Anglius leaving the base along with nearly all the soldiers. Such a sight instilled fear in people, as without the soldiers, who could protect them from the hordes of demons and monsters that now covered the post-apocalyptic world?
It would be easy for fear to turn into chaos, causing the sense of order that had been rising over the last few weeks to crumble. Luckily, that did not happen since while hundreds of soldiers left the Silent Wind Military Base, a new figure made himself present for all to see. Of course, that presence was no other than the King of the Xaos Kingdom, Vlad Xaos.
The Xaos King’s presence immediately restored the sense of security that had been lost upon seeing the soldiers leave.
Speculation ran wild about Vlad’s whereabouts. While Grand Marshal Anglius and Chief Counselor Aloz stated that the King was in his residence for an important project that involved the kingdom’s safety, no one had seen him, and his absence for over a month fueled rumors and doubts.
Yet, the enigmatic figure who had single-handedly slain thousands of monsters was no longer in seclusion. Vlad now stood in plain sight, leading the civilians in their monumental task of constructing the new tower.
The sense of order remained firm with the presence of the King, and the civilians understood that the young man’s power was just as massive as that of hundreds of soldiers, especially when he was accompanied by the small yellow cat, which seemed to be the wrath of God, able to fire lightning that could destroy entire hordes.
There was also a new figure alongside the King and the Lord of Lightning, a gorgeous young woman named Freya. According to the communication from Chief Counselor Aloz, she was an ambassador from another powerful organization and should be referred to as Her Highness. The old man shared nothing more as it was beyond their clearance.
Freya’s stunning beauty was not her only remarkable trait. As people watched in awe, she effortlessly manipulated metal plates weighing several tons, defying the laws of physics. Her abilities were a testament to her strength and prowess, leaving everyone to wonder about her true relationship with the King.
Freya paid no attention to the gazes people threw at her. Her focus was on the tower being built, and she had to admit it was awe-inspiring.
As part of a powerful Plane in the higher dimension, she was not foreign to concepts like Power Towers, as they were very useful for defense and offense and were core components of a city’s strength.
However, she did not expect to see something like this rising in a New Plane, at least not so soon. Even if you had the theoretical knowledge to build one, the magic components and resources needed were nearly impossible to attain.
The young woman could not help but feel impressed by how several components of this tower were replaced with lower versions. That would undoubtedly affect the full strength of the Power Tower, but it was better to have a weaker version than none at all. Not to mention that as better resources appeared, they could be used to improve the tower.
’Just how vast is his knowledge?’ Freya could not help but wonder as she gazed at the young man on the underground level of the tower.
Vlad had taken control of the Xaos Tower project, using the A.I. Chip to maximize the efforts of the people while working alongside Jormungandr to engrave the magic formations and runes in the metallic walls.
The choice to erect the Xaos Tower at the heart of the Silent Wind Military Base was not arbitrary. It was a strategic decision, leveraging the base’s central tower for its location and existing infrastructure. This decision not only saved precious resources but also streamlined the construction process.
Building a new structure over an existing one was not simple, and poor planning could make things more complicated and take much more time. That was why demolition usually happened in this type of project, but with the help of the A.I. Chip, all those little problems were taken care of.
Vlad could feel the young woman’s glance, but he did not allow himself any distraction as he continued carving the runes in the tower’s foundation. These were extremely important as it would be in this area where the Xaos Tower’s energy pool would take place, and any flaw in it would mean the failure of the entire structure.
Jormungandr was near the young man, his eyes showing just as much focus. He was also using his A.I. Chip, ensuring the magic matrices he put in place were flawless, as he understood just how important this place would be for the future growth of not only their kingdom but also their own power.
With the addition of Vlad, Jormungandr, and Freya, the construction speed of the tower surged.
Hundreds of people also worked alongside the trio, pushing themselves to their limits to improve the young king. While they could not carve magic runes or matrices like Vlad or Jormungandr nor carry tons of materials like Freya, many had already risen to Level 1 Warriors of Mages, and their capabilities were much better than ordinary people.
Thanks to the combination of the trio’s supernatural abilities and the nonstop work of hundreds of people, the matrix and runes of the foundation were engraved in a matter of days, and the tower’s first level, a colossal structure measuring 400 meters wide and 400 meters long, was already taking shape!
"Finally, we did it!" A wide smile appeared on Vlad’s face as he looked around him. He was in a dark subterranean section, with no windows and all paths toward it closed, making the place completely isolated.
While the darkness could not hinder Vlad’s sight, he smiled as he channeled energy into a small runic crystal, the Tower Key. Immediately, the walls began to glow as the runic lines and magic matrices were activated, revealing a wonderful sight.
The tower’s walls, crafted from enchanted metallic plates and unique rocks, emitted a soft hum, resonating with protective wards and runes that ensured unparalleled security and stability. But that was just the beginning of its power. The walls also began to draw energy from the world, hinting at the tower’s immense potential.
In the central chamber, Vlad saw a massive energy pool glowing with its own vibrant color, casting an otherworldly light as its runes and magic matrices began to gather energy inside. The pool was perfectly circular, its surface shimmering with raw elemental power.
A set of powerful runes inscribed around the energy pool’s edges pulsed gently, regulating the flow and concentration of energy. This prevented the pool from growing chaotic and blowing up, taking a good portion of the Silent Wind Military Base with it.
Vlad turned left from the energy pool chamber and saw his runic laboratory. That expansive room was dominated by large, flat inscription tables made of smooth, enchanted stone. Each table was meticulously organized, with precision tools and magnification devices arranged neatly around the edges. The tables themselves were inscribed with stabilizing enchantments, ensuring that even the most delicate rune work could be performed with ease.
Shelves and cabinets lined the walls, filled with an array of runic components—enchanted inks, rare minerals, and special metals—all carefully labeled and stored. Of course, those were the most miscellaneous things, and the truly precious components were kept in his space ring.
Normally, any runic laboratory would have an experiment area to test the might of the runes. Still, Vlad chose against it since there was no need to waste resources when the A.I. Chip could perform near-flawless simulations.
He then turned to the right and saw the alchemy laboratory adjacent to the runic lab. This room resembled a blend of ancient tradition and cutting-edge magic.
Sturdy and heat-resistant alchemy workbenches were arrayed with a variety of tools: alembics, crucibles, retorts, and more. Each bench was equipped with its own control magic matrices, allowing precise temperature regulation and magical infusion.
A large, climate-controlled storage area occupied one wall, filled with shelves and drawers containing a plethora of alchemical ingredients. The storage was meticulously organized to ensure that even the most volatile components were safely contained.
That was Jormungandr’s laboratory, which he would use to make all sorts of potions and artifacts. Those Alchemy Poitons had already proved their might in the Nagan Mountain, and with the laboratory, the small yellow cat could start creating weapons and armor.
The more Vlad saw, the more excitement it brought to his body. It was just the foundation, and it would be a long time before the tower was completely operational and could function as the kingdom’s logistical center, but it could already help him do a lot of things.
’Now nothing is stopping me from starting the Bloodline Project,’ a sharp light appeared in Vlad’s eyes as he analyzed his next move.
