Chapter 106: A catastrophe or good fortune?

Chapter 106: A catastrophe or good fortune?

A colossal fire covered Cold Town as Vlad and Jormungandr continued to Nagan Mountain. Neither the young man nor the small cat said a word, but their black eyes showed utter brutality as hundreds of bodies burned behind them. They would unleash a burning wrath and consume the lives of the ones responsible for this carnage.

The path forward was barren and mountainous, with no more towns in their way. The duo focused on killing monsters and demons that appeared while using their A.I. Chip to locate and collect more ingredients and treasures.

After another twenty days of travel, Vlad and Jormungandr saw in the distance a massive mountain over five thousand meters tall, its peak surrounded by storm clouds constantly unleashing powerful and deadly lightning strikes.

Vlad smiled as he saw the lightning strikes since that was the perfect place for a Lightning Core to grow. ’Who knows, I might find other treasures as well.’

It was already late, and while the duo’s Depravita Racial Heritage allowed their eyes to see in the dark, they were tired from all the running. Well, at least the young man was tired, as the little cat had spent the entire journey on his shoulder.

Vlad and Jormungandr chose a small barren land and began to rest for the night, gazing at the starry sky as they fell asleep. Unlike previous times when they had to keep extreme focus, they were now more than powerful enough to take care of anything approaching them, and their A.I. Chips would alert them of any danger.

The duo woke up to the first ray of sunlight, and the young man’s face was thrilled as he felt a wave of warmth and energy flow through every inch of his body and soul.

’I leveled up!’ Vlad was thrilled as he realized his energy pool had risen to the next level. He had not neglected his training during this journey, always meditating for a few hours each day, and it had paid off.

"A.I. Chip, scan me!" The young man was eager to see his stats, so he did not waste time and commanded the chip. In a moment, the robotic voice echoed inside his mind.

[Beep! Scanning the Host.

Vlad was thrilled and beyond excited as he saw his stats and level. Not only had his energy pool risen to the next level, but that burst allowed his body to push forward to an even higher stage. Of course, it was not just his energy pool that triggered the enhancement of his body, as he had been pouring massive amounts of Origin Force into his flesh, blood, bloodline, and soul.

’Regarding my Origin Force, that thing is still a mystery.’ As Vlad analyzed the key behind his evolution, his eyes went to the golden seed inside his Soul Dimension next to his Bloodline Core.

The Plane Will left that sphere behind when it canonized him as a World King’s Candidate. Vlad had tried to use the A.I. Chip to analyze it, but he learned nothing as its nature was beyond the chip’s current ability.

However, as Vlad emerged from the Silent Wind Military Base and began to kill aliens and obtain Origin Force, he noticed how the golden orb took a piece of it. It was very little, around 5%, so it was not much of a burden. Still, not knowing its purpose bothered him.

’I need to improve my soul force and energy pool. That way, the A.I. Chip will evolve and might gain the power to truly analyze it.’ Vlad did not take the sphere’s existence lightly but did not allow the worry to bother him too much since there was no point in losing sleep over something he could not control.

The duo had breakfast with the meat of the Monsters they had killed on the path, consuming the hearts. While Mortal Monsters did not provide much energy, it was still good enough for them.

After their meal, Vlad was ready to march into the mountain, with the little cat jumping onto his shoulder. However, just as he took a step forward, a sharp light appeared in his eyes, and he froze, his heart beating like crazy for a second.

"Boss!?" Jormungandr noticed Vlad’s state and was worried. He immediately raised his alertness and looked around for hidden enemies, but his instincts, perception, and A.I. Chip detected nothing.

"I am fine." Vlad calmed the little cat before taking a deep breath and focusing on himself. He detected nothing wrong. The sensation was fleeting, lasting less than a fraction of a second, but it told him that the mountain would be very special.

The instincts of an individual were not just thoughts; they were a response of their souls to the flow of time and the phenomena of the world. That was especially true for a Depravita like Vlad, whose connection to the universe was much more profound than an average human’s.

’A catastrophe or good fortune?’ Unfortunately for Vlad, the feeling was too fast and vague, and he had no idea what he could find in the mountain.

Although Vlad could simply turn around and leave, the mere thought made the young man frown.

"Hmph, since when have I let a little danger stop me?" Vlad sneered, his eyes burning with killing intent as he focused on the mountain. Whatever dared to step in his path, he would simply destroy it.

Of course, Vlad’s readiness to face the threat that might arise in the mountain did not mean he would be careless, and a scheming light appeared in his eyes as he turned to the small yellow cat.
