Chapter 98: Giving in (3)

Selene covered her face with her right hand. "I should have walked out the door when I had the chance."

"I would love for you to remember that you kissed me. I only helped take it where we both wanted it to go. I kept my promise that I wouldn’t go that far but you seem frustrated. Why?" Xavier asked, feigning innocence with the matter.

Selene saw through his innocent question. "I will not answer that. Instead, you have something to answer me. You have secrets to share."

Selene had not forgotten what started all of this.

"Secrets? You seem to forget it is one secret for every one kiss," Xavier reminded Selene.

"You kissed me twice. One here and at the door," Selene replied. "Just as your secrets are expensive, so are my kisses. So, tell me two of your secrets."

Xavier couldn’t argue with her there since he had kissed her twice and since he enjoyed both times, he would give her what she wanted. "I flew home."

Silence fell upon the room for a moment and then Selene’s laughter was heard.

"You flew home? I know I suspected it but it is only the elders I have heard that had that ability. The first of our kind did. Oh," Selene realised something. "Let us say this is true, is this why your family is so concerned about who will be the mother of your children?"

"First, I don’t see why you do not believe me when I am being honest here. Secondly, they do not know I can fly. Some of my servants know and there is one relative aware of this but he is in a deep slumber," said Xavier.

"You," Selene fully sat up. "You have an ability from our elders. Someone must have suspected something which is why they are so interested in your life. That is only one. You must share another."

"If only you would be so curious about other things in my life. I can take control of someone’s body. It has the most effect on humans and mixed-bloods but it will wear off quickly for purebloods," Xavier shared.

"I have never heard of anyone having such abilities. Normally it is speed or better strength than most. The others were said to have stopped at our elders. What more can you do?" Selene asked, her curiosity growing.

Xavier tapped his lips.

"Right. I am not so curious right now," Selene replied. Knowing what she did now was enough. "I won’t share it with anyone. It would be quite useful when you have to catch anyone by surprise."

"I’m sure you won’t tell anyone. I have once heard of your family having a special skill. Some in the court spoke of it but I have never heard what it was," said Xavier.

"My family?" Selene replied, certain they had heard wrong. "We aren’t different from other purebloods. My wounds heal quickly, I can be quite fast if I have enough blood, my strength is there and I should live a long time if I am smart with my steps. There isn’t anything out of the ordinary."

Xavier expected that Selene would be clueless since there was a lot her parents kept from her. "Everyone doesn’t realise their abilities at the same time as others so in time you might notice something. If you do not have one, it will not affect what I feel for you."

Selene stood up from the bed. "That is good to know. I do not mind being normal among other purebloods. You were preparing for a bath when I came in so I will leave to not disturb you."

"The only way you would disturb me is if you were to be in there with me. Then I would not be able to concentrate on anything other than you. I welcome you to be in there with me whether it be standing to the side or offering a helping hand. Or two," Xavier suggested.

Selene wished there was something soft close by for her to throw at Xavier. Somehow, she had made him even more suggestive with his advances.

"I will never join you in there," Selene replied.

"Oh, I wouldn’t say never if I were you. I’m sure you once believed we would never find ourselves as we were a moment ago but we did. Do not underestimate my ability to get you in there with me. I hope you will stay here as I find myself feeling lonely. Do stay to protect me," Xavier said as he left to get undressed.

Selene eyed Xavier as he headed to the bathing chamber. She didn’t need to protect him from anything. Even death would be afraid of Xavier.

Still, Selene sat back down on the bed since there was nothing to be seen from here. She was grateful her eyesight wasn’t so wonderful that she could see through walls. She did feel suspicious of Xavier having such a talent.

Selene laid back on the bed, thinking of what occurred between her and Xavier. It was innocent compared to what could have truly happened had they not been aware they shouldn’t go too far.

Strangely, had he ignored his promise and continued to touch her, Selene couldn’t confidently say she would have stopped him. Her feelings weren’t completely sorted yet as she wasn’t ready to love again but she could not lie about the attraction.

About the curiosity.

It wasn’t uncommon for their kind to engage in intimacy simply to satisfy their desires since there were many establishments where it could be done but Selene wanted to do it the right way.

If she were to go that far with Xavier it should be because her heart was in the same place as his. She thought of how he would feel if they did it once and she did not yearn for it again as he would.

"I must go on a walk," Selene decided but as she sat up, she thought of Xavier not wanting her to leave.

They needed to be comfortable with each other to stay like this since they were married. Rather than leave while he was out of sight, Selene decided to stay but she would get Harold to bring warm water.

Selene walked to the door in hopes of spotting a servant to inform Harold of what Xavier needed.

"Oh," Selene said upon spotting Harold passing the door again. "Were you waiting for when he needed you?"

"No, Milady. I was removing the servants on this floor," Harold replied.

"I see. You can bring up warm water to be used for a bath and maybe more blood for the both of us," said Selene.

"I will have the maids do it right away but it will take some time to bring the larger one up. Should I prepare something for you to eat alongside the blood while you wait?" Harold asked.

"Larger one?" Selene replied, trying to make sense of what Harold meant. It couldn’t be the blood he was referring to. "Do you intend to bring up a big human?"

Harold did not understand Selene. "No, Milady. I might have misunderstood your words. I thought you needed warm water for both of you. I shall get water for the lord quickly."

Selene stood in disbelief as his words dawned on her. She knew what Harold had assumed. The night was still young but Selene saw it was time for her to go to bed to get the day over with.
