Chapter 112: Touch (1)

"It is not a good look for you to turn to stalking. I am faltered but others might be terrified by this," Selene said, listening closely to Xavier’s light steps behind her. "Don’t you have work to do now?"

"Not after what you just said and you know it. How cruel to say that and then run away from me. Luckily, you won’t get far. Don’t you know that I am quite quick on my feet?" Xavier asked.

"So am I," Selene replied, walking at a pace to keep some space between them.

Selene knew what she started and would get some fun out of it while she could.

Xavier took the chase as a game. Unless Selene intended to leave the estate soon, she would quickly find herself trapped in his arms. He had the time to play with her like this. Did she have that time?

Agnes smiled when she spotted Selene but did not approach after noticing Xavier. The two were odd when they acted like this so Agnes didn’t want to get in the way.

Selene frowned when she found herself facing a wall. Since when was there a wall here with no path to get away from her husband?

"So, it is true that you get lost in the estate sometimes. Should I knock down some of the walls and expand so you can keep running away from me? I am enjoying the chase," Xavier said, awaiting her next move.

"Why would you waste money on that? The estate is already big," Selene muttered.

There needed to be a map for her to hold in her hands when walking around. This was exactly why she went on so many strolls to get familiar with the estate.

It pained Selene to have to turn around to face Xavier.

"I want to pass by you without any problems. As you saw, I need to continue walking around the estate to get more familiar with it. Or do you want me to keep getting lost?" Selene asked.

"That is all the more reason for me to guide you since I know the estate quite well and if you ever get lost, I shall come to find you. I am unable to promise that I might not hold you if you come too near," Xavier said but he placed his hands behind his back.

"I gave you a chance and you are running with it. I am partly to blame since I knew it would spark something inside of you. We should speak in private," Selene said, taking careful steps to approach him.

Luckily, there was a small library nearby for them to use so the servants would not stumble upon them.

Xavier allowed Selene to walk by him without reaching for her and followed her inside the small library.

Selene opened the door and examined the library. She didn’t get a good look the first time she came this way. Unlike many other areas in the estate, the library windows were not covered so the sunlight brightened up the room.

"So, what were you saying earlier?" Selene heard after the door closed.

Selene walked further into the room to take a look at the books. "Your hearing is as good as mine or even better. I’m sure that I don’t need to repeat myself. I wouldn’t have said it if I didn’t mean it."

"I need answers to the sudden change. Did our disrupted time-"

"Disrupted? You ended it because you wanted to tease me," Selene argued.

Xavier smiled. "I did not know it bothered you this much. Since you didn’t know what you felt toward me, I didn’t think it would affect you if we stopped."

"You knew that it would bother me which is why you did it. Why are we speaking about this now?" Selene wondered, not wanting this to lead to an argument.

Xavier finally closed the space between them by approaching Selene. He snaked his arm around her waist and pulled her close for their bodies to touch. "Because we love to bicker like an old married couple. I enjoy it."

"You enjoy everything so I truly do not know what is special with you," Selene replied, avoiding his gaze.

"You should take it as a compliment since I enjoy every moment with you. After all, you are the one who kept me from going into a deep slumber," said Xavier.

Xavier moved her hair to expose her neck to him. He was still tempted to bite her but he settled for leaving a mark there for now.

Without thinking of what he was doing to her, Selene tilted her head to make it more comfortable for him.

"I would not like to take credit for you not using your coffin. Those who were ready to celebrate you would be out of their way might hate me. Ow," Selene winced. "My blood is useless to you. Do not bite me."

Selene knew it wasn’t the kind of bite to make her bleed but she did not want to experience the sensation that followed his ’bite’ and the feel of his tongue as he tried to soothe where he hurt her.

"I couldn’t resist it. It is quite unfortunate you picked this room. We will have to make do with what we have. Hold tight," Xavier advised Selene before he lifted her.

Selene’s legs instinctively wrapped around Xavier’s waist.

Selene was grateful he warned her this time. What was he thinking of doing inside of a library?

"Xavier, we should go elsewhere," Selene suggested. "There’s no way to," she stopped as she proved wrong after he settled her on a large table in the corner of the room.

"No way to do what?" Xavier asked. "Tell me."

"I will not," Selene replied.

Xavier pushed away the books which were not important at the moment. "You mustn’t keep these things to yourself. Bear with it for now," he said as he helped her to lay back on the table.

Xavier made himself comfortable between her parted legs which remained around his waist. He took in the sight of her lying back on the table beneath him. It wasn’t where he thought they would continue but it would have to do for now.

His right hand slipped under her dress to make contact with her skin. He must be a bastard for wanting to lift her dress to have a better look.

Xavier leaned forward, placing his left hand by her shoulder to prop himself up. "It is a beautiful dress," he commented on what she wore now.

Xavier wanted to see her dress herself up as much as she liked and when the day ended, he would enjoy being the one to take off her dresses. He would be a dutiful husband to serve her in that way.

Selene tried to focus on his words and his hand exploring her lower body. His hand was sneakingly moving from the side of her leg toward her inner thigh. He was slowly bringing back her need to have him in that way and it was quite dangerous.

His hand stopped right before where could take their relationship to another step.

"May I?" Xavier asked.

Selene didn’t know what exactly he was asking for since a lot was happening but she answered, "Yes."
