Chapter 151: Agree!

Sawyer stifled a laugh; he admired her adorable, confused expression. Her eyebrows furrowed, and her lips formed a slight pout. He resisted the urge to kiss her.

"And I have no intention of accepting their money. I genuinely want to provide you with a lawyer simply because you are my woman..." he continued.

Abigail felt like the room heater had just been turned on. Her cheeks flushed when he called her "my woman."

Trying to refocus on their conversation, she lightly shook her head, dismissing her earlier thoughts.

"How much discount do you get from Mr. Rowan?" she asked.

Sawyer considered the amount, searching for the right figure to convince her. After a moment’s thought, he replied, "Eighty percent off his normal legal fee."

"No way! Why did he give you such a big discount?" Abigail found it hard to believe that Rowan Sterling could be so generous to Sawyer.

"I’m not sure. You can ask him directly if you don’t believe me..." Sawyer smiled as he reached for his cell phone to call Rowan, but Abigail stopped him.

"S-Sawyer, don’t call him!" she said, a bit flustered.

"Abby, why did you stop me?" Sawyer asked, a faint smile on his face.

"I thought you doubted me," he continued.

Abigail signaled for Sawyer to set his cell phone on the coffee table. With a grin, she said, "I believe you. You don’t need to call him right now. He might charge you for it. I hear his legal fees are high..."

Sawyer chuckled inwardly at Abigail’s amusing words. He cleared his throat and said, "Okay, I won’t call him. So, do you agree to take eighty percent of the discount fee? If you agree, I will ask him to speak to Silverstone Group."

Abigail tried to calculate how much money she could earn from this case. Still, she was unsure about the precise amount of Rowan Sterling’s legal fees. She set aside her curiosity, deciding she would Google it later.

"If you insist, I will agree. It’s better to get money from Silverstone Group than to lose your own money, right?" Abigail felt relieved that Sawyer wouldn’t be spending his own money on her legal case.

Sawyer smiled, glad he could punish Andy with this, "Alright, I’ll text Rowan now..."

"Hmmm," Abigail replied, turning her attention back to the movie.

Sawyer took his phone and sent a message to Rowan about Abigail’s idea.

"Silverstone Group insists on paying your legal fees as Abigail’s lawyer. You can charge them your normal rate."

"Are you sure, sir? My legal fees are quite expensive."

Sawyer frowned at Rowan’s quick reply, wondering why he was still awake.

’Is he still meeting with his client?’ Sawyer wondered as he typed his response to Rowan.

"It doesn’t matter. You will transfer eighty percent of the money you receive from Silverstone Group to Abigail’s account."

"I will do as you instruct, sir."

"Good!"

After Sawyer finished texting Rowan, he urged Abigail to get some sleep, reminding her that they needed to wake up early for their trip to Orange Town.

***

At the Double Six Club, one of the most expensive venues in town, influential figures from across the country often meet with their business partners or colleagues for dinner or engage in activities like billiards, golf, and other sports offered at the club.

Andy Bennet is playing pool with Rowan Sterling in one of the VIP rooms. And while at it, he was also trying to find information about his client, Abigail’s friend.

Andy knew he couldn’t relax until he uncovered the details he was after.

However,

Despite spending the evening trying to obtain information from Rowan, Andy had not heard a single clue, and his frustration grew.

Just as Andy was about to wrap up their meeting, he noticed Rowan exchanging texts with someone. Rowan’s serious expression piqued his curiosity.

"What’s going on? Why are you looking at me like that?" Andy asked, confused. Rowan narrowed his eyes at him as if he had something important to say.

"Do you want to call it a night?" Andy glanced at his watch; it was almost eleven. He felt exhausted and sensed that Rowan had no intention of revealing his client’s identity.

A faint smile appeared on Rowan’s lips as he put down his billiard cue and stepped closer to Andy.

"Andy, I just heard that you pressured my client, Miss Abigail Snow, into charging your company for legal fees. Is that correct?"

Andy clenched his hands tightly as he processed Rowan’s question. Although he had discussed the matter with Abigail, he didn’t know who her legal representative was at the time.

Andy began to hesitate once he learned that Rowan was Abigail’s lawyer. This wasn’t because the company couldn’t afford Rowan; Andy was concerned that other shareholders would question his decision. Hiring the most expensive lawyer in the country to defend a contract worker instead of a permanent employee would appear risky.

However, Andy knew he couldn’t back down since he had promised Abigail and insisted she accept his offer. He would do this even if it meant using his own money.

"Yes. That’s right—" Andy replied firmly, realizing he couldn’t waver now. If he did, it would jeopardize his chances with Abigail.

"Andy, you know my legal fee per hour, right?" Rowan asked again, his tone filled with concern that Andy might not be aware of the potential trouble ahead if he insisted on this course of action.

"I don’t know the exact amount of your fee, but I can guess..." He leaned closer to Rowan and whispered, "$3,000 per hour, right?"

Rowan chuckled and shook his head slowly. "You’ve underestimated me, Andy. It’s actually not close."

"Huh!? So the rumors are true?" Andy swallowed hard, trying to moisten his suddenly dry throat.

"I’m not sure what rumors you’ve heard, but my last client paid me $6,000 per hour..."

Rowan paused, chuckling as he watched Andy’s eyes widen in surprise. Playfully, he continued, "Since we’re friends and Silverstone Group is my firm’s main client, I won’t charge you that much; I’ll give you a rate of $5,000 per hour. How does that sound?"

It took a moment for Andy to respond.
