Chapter 135: Grandpa Telling Embarrassing Story
Abigail glanced at him, looking for clarification.
However,
Sawyer had already stood up and headed to the door with Aaron. Utterly unaware of her questioning gaze.
’Oh gosh! So, he already knew about this?’ Abigail thought, feeling utterly speechless.
They arrived at the hospital to check on her head injury; however, they ended up visiting Sawyer’s family home.
This unexpected turn of events has caused her anxiety to return.
She hadn’t prepared herself for a visit to his family’s house.
How could she show up empty-handed? She even wears casual clothes: jeans, a simple shirt, and a coat.
Sigh deeply, Abigail could only follow them toward the elevator.
...
Aaron glanced at Granny Martha and said, "Granny, I’m sorry, but I couldn’t join you for dinner. I still have surgery scheduled tonight."
"You weren’t even invited, buddy. Now, go back to your job and don’t screw up with people’s lives; there’s no need to think about other things outside the job, particularly this," Sawyer replied in his low tone, almost whispering. Still, it was clear enough for both Abigail and Aaron to hear.
Abigail stifled a laugh.
While Aaron turned salty hearing his friend’s words. "Tsk, tsk, Sawyer Jones, you’re so heartless! Can you at least pretend that Granny invited me?" He shot Sawyer an annoyed gaze before slowing his pace to match Grandma Martha.
"Oh, sweet Aaron, I’m so sorry for not inviting you! I know you must’ve been super busy. But I promise I will invite you next time, and I will send the invitation in advance so you can match it with your schedule. Don’t worry, dear—we have plenty of time and lots of events to celebrate."
Martha said with a genuine apologetic smile, patting Aaron’s shoulder gently before stepping into the elevator.
Sawyer and Abigail followed her into the elevator after waving goodbye to Aaron.
"Sure, Granny..." Aaron replied, waving as the elevator doors closed. "Goodbye, sister-in-law. Until we meet again, and please scold Sawyer for me..." He grinned at his friend.
Abigail felt her cheeks warm when she heard Aaron call her "sister-in-law." Suddenly, she felt embarrassed because Grandma Martha was there. She stood beside Sawyer, hiding her blushing cheeks.

Martha insisted on riding in Sawyer’s car, which forced him to sit next to Brody, who was driving. Meanwhile, Vincent moved to Martha’s car and followed behind them.
As they made their way to the Jones family residence, Abigail began to feel less tense. She and Martha shared many interests, and their conversation mostly revolved around food and cooking.
Abigail felt relaxed chatting with Martha and no longer experienced awkwardness. However, her anxiety gradually resurfaced as their car finally approached the residence, revealing a magnificent three-story house in the distance.
When Abigail finally saw the tall, athletic old man standing at the entrance, waiting for them, she could only assume he was Sawyer’s grandfather.
Based on his features, Abigail guessed he must be Sawyer’s grandpa. As Sawyer had mentioned, he looked handsome and appeared in his seventies despite being in his eighties.
As they approached, Abigail’s heartbeat quickened. Nervous.
Martha, sitting beside Abigail, sensed her tension. "Oh, Abigail, please don’t be nervous about meeting Nathaniel. Even though he may look unfriendly, he is actually very kind. Right, Sawyer?"
Sawyer heard his grandmother’s concern and immediately returned to check on Abigail. Seeing the tension on her face, he regretted agreeing to his grandmother’s invitation.
"Grandma, make sure Grandpa doesn’t make Abby nervous or uncomfortable, or I will never bring her here to meet him again!" Sawyer protested before opening the door and stepping out to assist Abigail.
Instead of getting angry, Martha laughed at Sawyer’s words.
Abigail was speechless as she listened to Sawyer vent his annoyance to his grandmother. While this helped her feel more at ease, it also increased her stress.
’Gosh! How could he scold his own grandma like that?’ She made a mental note to talk to him later—to be more gentle toward his Grandma.
Sighing deeply, Abigail turned to see Martha. Hurriedly, she helped her step outside before taking Sawyer’s hand and exiting the car.
Just as Abigail stood firmly, a man’s voice called out:
"Sawyer, this beautiful girl," Nathaniel Jones no longer waited for them at the entrance, "is your future wife that you told us about the other day?" he asked curiously.
"Yes, she is my future wife. And her name is Abigail." Sawyer was lost in his words, looking at his Grandfather.
Like his grandmother, his grandfather also ignored him after he introduced Abigail.
Sawyer could only shake his head as he watched his grandfather offer Abigail a handshake. Then, the three of them engaged in conversation as they walked into the house, completely ignoring him.
He didn’t move from his place, and his mind was filled with many concerns.
...
Vincent approached Sawyer, who remained standing where he was, staring at the door.
"Boss, will Miss Abigail be okay inside? Why did you leave them to take her in?" Vincent asked, evidently sounding worried.
"Hopefully!" Sawyer sighed deeply and turned to look at Vincent. "You guys, get ready. I won’t be here long. Once dinner ends, I’ll take her out of the house," he ordered before heading inside.
Sawyer was worried that Abigail would be stressed and uncomfortable inside the house. He couldn’t trust his grandfather and feared he would ask too many questions about Abigail.
He knew Abigail was concerned about his family knowing the truth about her shameless father, so he rushed inside, eager to help her.
However, as Sawyer entered the living room, he nearly tripped over his own feet when he saw Abigail sitting with his grandparents, chatting casually and laughing happily, a porcelain cup of tea in her hand. She looked utterly relaxed.
’Huh? Why is she so calm? She doesn’t seem nervous at all anymore!’
Curious about what had made Abigail laugh, Sawyer paused for a moment to listen to their conversation. A moment later, his expression turned sour.
’Damn it! How could Grandpa reveal that story to Abigail?’ Sawyer took a deep breath, unable to believe what he was hearing.
