Chapter 32: Breakthrough
Chapter 32: Breakthrough
Jun Wu Xiao carried Yue Guang back to the cave, her mind preoccupied with something unclear at the moment.
Then, the two of them returned to the cave together, and Jun Wu Xiao placed her on a rock slab. However, at that moment, he suddenly felt that he had forgotten something, and he said:
"I don’t know why, but I feel like I’ve forgotten something."
Yue Guang after hearing this, also started to think and suddenly realized what they had forgotten. She said:
"That guy is still unconscious, you should quickly bring him back, or the wild beasts will really eat him."
"Ah, how could I forget him? I’ll go get him right now."
Poor Dao San Qian was seriously injured but was forgotten while someone in better condition was carried back.
After returning to the site, Jun Wu Xiao hoisted him onto his shoulders and ran back to the cave.
Once back in the cave, he thought about a problem:
"There’s only one rock slab here, and Yue Guang is already using it. Well, never mind, I often sleep on the ground anyway, so I’ll just leave him in some corner as long as he’s safe from being eaten."
After making the decision, he laid Dao San Qian down in a corner he deemed safe and then went over to Yue Guang. Seeing him return, she asked:
"Was that guy eaten?"
"Not yet, we only left for a moment. If he really was eaten, that would be incredibly unlucky." Jun Wu Xiao shook his head and said.
"You probably don’t need much rest, right?" he continued.
Yue Guang nodded, she knew he understood her current state well. She said:
"A little sleep is enough to continue cultivating."
Jun Wu Xiao also knew she was fine, considering he had fought with her for so long. But her action earlier puzzled him, and he said:
"But why did you ask me to carry you back?"
Faced with the question, Yue Guang was quite confused. To be honest, she didn’t know much about that, it was just a sudden whim. She said:
"I’m not sure. But perhaps, in the future, I will understand."
Hearing her answer like that, Jun Wu Xiao didn’t ask further, sensing she wasn’t deceiving him.
But Jun Wu Xiao had already seen much of people doing things without understanding why, ever since he stepped onto the path of cultivation. Those he considered as friends all seemed quite strange, looking like they knew exactly what they were doing, yet often unclear about it themselves.
Yue Guang suddenly remembered something, Jun Wu Xiao had once tested her strength for comparison, so she said:
"Ah, after our fight, I felt his strength was similar to mine during my first breakthrough."
Jun Wu Xiao nodded, having already had a strong suspicion after observing Dao San Qian’s speed and timing of breakthrough. Hearing her say this didn’t surprise him much. He said:
"Perhaps there are universal rules for cultivation. But it’s fair and makes sense. As long as humanity pays the price, they can surely breakthrough and attain fundamentally equal strength."
"I think so too. Everything in the world must exist based on rationality. If something were irrational, it would either not exist or will be eliminated eliminated." Yue Guang said.
"Hmm, but now, discussing this is really too premature. Our power is still far from being qualified to intervene in these matters." Jun Wu Xiao said.
Yue Guang did not object, although she was now among the pinnacle of human strength, deep down, she felt truly frail. She sensed that she was still far from obtaining what she needed.
"You just go to sleep, I’m going to cultivate now." Jun Wu Xiao said.
Then he left the cave and went to a random location in the Kunlun Mountains. He could cultivate anywhere, not necessarily needing to wander aimlessly, but the change of scenery made the routine less monotonous.
Life in the Kunlun Mountains went on as usual, and soon, Dao San Qian also woke up and began his usual cultivation. Time passed peacefully, and now more than twenty-one years had gone by.
Nothing unexpected had occurred, it was time for Jun Wu Xiao’s breakthrough. Dao San Qian and Yue Guang had already experienced their breakthroughs some time ago.
When he first fought with Dao San Qian, Yue Guang was only eight months away from her breakthrough, and now she had already gone through three breakthroughs, with Jun Wu Xiao about to have his third breakthrough like her.
During this period, Yue Guang and Jun Wu Xiao had not fought each other, perhaps because they had grown accustomed to their current strength and grown tired of fighting, so they focused solely on cultivating.
Now was the moment for Jun Wu Xiao’s breakthrough, but this time it was very different. Once again, he experienced the terrifying sensation of power growth like during his first breakthrough.
"Ha ha ha ha. This breakthrough has made me much stronger, let’s see how much stronger I’ve become." Jun Wu Xiao laughed loudly.
Then, he closed his eyes, focusing his mind to feel his body. After a moment, he was astonished and opened his eyes:
"One... one hundred years. I can’t believe my lifespan has increased by a hundred years. Ha ha ha ha." Jun Wu Xiao laughed loudly, unable to contain his excitement.
His excitement was not unexpected, the last time he had only gained fifty years, and that was decades ago. But now, after a long period of effort, gaining an additional hundred years for cultivation obviously thrilled him.
"Not only that, but my strength has also tripled. This breakthrough is different from the last one. Last time it was a strengthening of flesh and skin, but this time it is a fortification of the bones." he continued.
Knowing how much stronger he had become, he decided to find Yue Guang to tell her about his progress.
He sprinted towards Yue Guang’s training location, but it seemed he was not yet accustomed to his current strength. When he put force into his first jump, he flew straight into a tree trunk, breaking several trees in the process.
Emerging from a cloud of dust, Jun Wu Xiao coughed and stood up. He said:
"Cough, cough... Haiz, my speed has tripled, so I still haven’t adapted to it yet. Luckily there’s no one here to be hit by me. Otherwise, they wouldn’t die then they’d at least break some bones."
Then, he began to concentrate on sensing his muscles, squatting down then using all his strength to leap up to see the current limit of his ability.
The strength that had increased threefold was not a joke. The height he reached now surpassed most of the trees in the forest, except for a few exceptionally tall ones.
He hovered in the air for a few seconds, feeling a quite novel sensation. Though it was a short moment, it could almost be considered flying. He exclaimed:
"This feeling is really new. But there’s a serious problem. My movements will be limited in mid-air. In the future, it’s best not to jump so high."
After getting used to his current strength, he continued looking for Yue Guang.
