Chapter 188: Alice vs Cedric (2)

Alice and Cedric stared intently at each other, the atmosphere between them thick with tension, as if sparks were flying from the friction between their gazes.

Though neither of them spoke, they both seemed to have the same thought in mind. Their stances shifted rapidly.

What started as a simple exchange of punches had now transformed into something that looked more like a true martial arts duel.

The reason was simple and obvious—they were in pain. Yes, just look at their hands. They had begun to turn red. If they kept punching like this, all they would achieve was sore fists rather than a decisive victory.

Alice threw a straight punch toward Cedric’s stomach. He swiftly swung his arm in an arc, redirecting her attack to the side.

There was no sign of surprise in her eyes as her attack was blocked. Instead, she immediately shifted into a defensive stance.

The moment he deflected her punch, Cedric launched a counterattack, throwing his own fist toward her.

Whoosh!

She quickly tilted her head to the side, causing his punch to graze past her hair.

At the same time, her leg shot straight up toward the sky, forcing Cedric to instinctively step back in surprise.

His eyes remained locked onto her every movement. Without hesitation, he kicked at her supporting leg, intending to break her balance and send her crashing to the ground.

However, she instantly leaped into the air, flawlessly dodging his attack.

In the same motion, her raised leg came crashing down toward Cedric’s head.

Smack!

A sharp impact echoed through the air, drawing the focused gazes of everyone present.

"Yes! She landed a hit!"

"Well done, hero!"

"Now’s your chance! Capture that detestable criminal!"

...

To the spectators, Alice’s attack on Cedric’s head appeared to be a perfect strike.

They believed that he had likely been stunned by the blow, meaning victory was surely within her grasp.

But the truth was, the spectators knew nothing at all. Alice’s stance in that moment had severely limited the force she could exert, so Cedric barely took any significant damage.

That being said, her kick still inflicted more damage than all of Nora’s attacks combined.

Cedric’s eyes widened in shock from the impact, but he quickly regained his composure and responded. He immediately took several steps back, creating a safe distance between himself and Alice.

Judging by his current expression, it was hard to say he was seriously injured. The attack had only left him slightly dazed.

Moreover, this wasn’t a fight to the death, so Alice hadn’t used a killing move. His life was never truly at risk.

Cedric glared at her, irritation clear in his eyes, and grumbled:

"Damn it, why the hell does that hurt so much? You violent bitch."

Despite his harsh words, his focus didn’t waver for even a second.

Most skilled fighters in this world knew how to talk during battle to distract their opponents—at least when both parties could understand each other.

Alice, unfazed, casually responded:

"Oh? I’ll take that as a compliment. You’re admitting I’m stronger than you, huh?"

Seeing that he didn’t launch an immediate counterattack, she smirked and taunted:

"Hey, are you seriously still dizzy from a single kick? If I were you, I’d just go home and take a nap instead of running around pretending to be free."

A vein bulged on Cedric’s forehead. He was genuinely pissed off now. He snapped:

"Goddamn it, what the hell are you barking about? You can call me weak all you want, but don’t you dare insult my pursuit of freedom!"

In truth, the kick had left him quite dazed, but he had already shaken it off. He had only been taking his time, calculating his next move.

As soon as he finished speaking, his eyes changed—his fighting style shifting along with them.

"Metal Ball!"

He hurled two metal spheres toward her in rapid succession.

Alice’s sharp eyes darted back and forth, quickly analyzing the trajectory of the incoming attack.

The moment the timing was right, she spun gracefully in midair, flawlessly dodging both metal spheres.

"Metal Spike!"

It was the same technique he had used against Nora, but this time, its power was significantly greater.

From two different positions, the iron spheres suddenly sprouted countless razor-sharp spikes, forming an inescapable attack that completely sealed off Alice’s escape routes.

Nora, seeing this, gasped in alarm.

"Alice!"

However, contrary to his panic, Alice’s expression remained utterly calm. She softly uttered a few words:

"Fire Wall!"

Instantly, a ring of fire erupted around her body, forming a protective barrier. The flames clashed violently against the metal spikes, sending dazzling sparks flying in all directions.

The flickering light from the impact left everyone at the scene wide-eyed in astonishment.

Most of them had never witnessed such a surreal sight before, so their shock was only natural.

Even Nora wasn’t much better off. A thought raced through his mind:

"Can I even participate in a battle at this level?"

But he quickly shook his head, correcting himself:

"I might be able to join, but my contributions would be minimal. However, if an opponent at this level were severely weakened right in front of me, I’d have a chance to finish them off."

The power gap between Rank F and Rank E was massive, but a heavily injured Rank E fighter wasn’t necessarily a match for a fully healthy Rank F.

Meanwhile, the clash between Cedric’s attack and Alice’s defense had come to an end. Both the flames and the metallic spikes dissipated in midair.

These weren’t natural elements of the world—they were manifestations of internal energy.

They couldn’t be sustained indefinitely, as maintaining them continuously consumed energy.

Alice landed back on the ground, murmuring under her breath:

"Flame Blade."

Her right arm transformed into a roaring blaze, extending nearly five meters in length. Raising the fiery weapon high above her head, she charged straight at Cedric.

Seeing her sudden offensive, Cedric was momentarily stunned.

This was a technique he had never encountered before.

Cursing under his breath, he hastily formulated a defense:

"Damn it, she really wants to cut me in half!"

Without hesitation, he conjured a thick metal dome, fully enclosing himself in a protective barrier.
