Chapter 165: Departure to the Capital
Jun Wu Xiao carried Gu Zhou Jian as they hurried to find the next person. Dao San Qian was in seclusion, cultivating as usual, when he suddenly sensed a visitor and immediately went out to greet them.
As soon as he stepped outside, he noticed that she had aged significantly since they last met and couldn’t resist teasing her a bit.
"Well well, it’s been a while, and the little girl from before has turned into an old lady. If we go out together now, people might mistake us for a grandmother and her grandchild."
Gu Zhou Jian, already tired of hearing such remarks from Jun Wu Xiao, barely reacted. She just huffed:
"Hmph, you shameless old man, say what you want, it is what it is."
Dao San Qian was taken aback, a bit awkwardly, and said:
"Really? According to the script, you should be arguing with me. Why did you just accept it?"
He had intended to joke around a bit but was surprised when she admitted to aging. This left him feeling somewhat disappointed.
Seeing his disappointment, Gu Zhou Jian smirked and said:
"He’s been saying those things to me a lot, so I’m tired of hearing it. I have no reason to argue with you. If you want to blame someone, blame him. It’s got nothing to do with me."
Jun Wu Xiao, who was only a spectator, was suddenly implicated, leaving him momentarily bewildered. But then he got to the point:
"I’ve hit a barrier I can’t break through, so I want to invite everyone back to human society for a while, maybe get some new ideas."
Dao San Qian frowned upon hearing this. It was the first time he’d heard such a suggestion and didn’t expect it.
After a short pause, he nodded and said:
"Alright, we haven’t seen each other in years anyway. I’ll keep an eye out while we’re out, and if any ideas come up, I’ll let you know."
Jun Wu Xiao nodded:
"Good, thanks. Let’s head to Yue Guang’s place; she should have gathered the other two by now."
With that, the three of them set off for the agreed location. Meanwhile, Yue Guang had already gathered everyone and was on their way.
All six of them assembled at the top of a mountain, and Jun Wu Xiao said:
"Let’s go to the capital, find them, and then take a stroll around to observe human society. I just took a quick look at the surrounding area, and it seems human civilization has made considerable progress."
Everyone, except Gu Zhou Jian, nodded in agreement, as her perception wasn’t as far-reaching as the others.
They noticed that the Kunlun mountains had evidently been designated as a restricted area, with no one entering, but outside they saw many flying vehicles in the sky.
"You know the way, so lead us there quickly." Yue Guang said.
Among them, only Jun Wu Xiao and Gu Zhou Jian knew the exact location (from a century ago), so it made sense for them to guide the group.
He nodded and said:
"We should fly to save time. If we walk, the current human architectural structures look very complex. Also, a century has passed, so I’m not sure if the map I remember matches the current one."
Everyone nodded, it had been a long time since they had been to the capital, so they knew nothing about the current state.
They were even more outdated than Jun Wu Xiao, as they had never visited modern human civilization before.
Given their current power, flying at a speed that Gu Zhou Jian could handle was only slightly uncomfortable, more like a mild headache. Compared to their daily intense cultivation, this was a minor issue.
Without hesitation, they all flew straight towards the capital, confident that while architecture and maps might change, the capital location would remain the same.
The reason was that the capital held significant historical importance. It was the foundation of humanity’s unification and thus couldn’t be altered.
As they flew out of the Kunlun mountains at an incredible speed, satellites immediately sent a report to the current Human Emperor.
Upon receiving the report, he instructed:
"Don’t concern yourselves with them. Perhaps they have some issue to discuss with the elders at the national park, or maybe they’re just gathering to catch up after many years. It’s nothing unusual."
To the leaders, all high-level cultivators, or more broadly, the Guardian Gods, were highly respected individuals with a 0% likelihood of posing a threat to humanity.
This had been confirmed over many years. Most high-level cultivators greatly valued humanity, while a small minority were indifferent.
However, they all shared a common trait: they had no interest in causing trouble for those weaker than themselves without important reasons.
High-level cultivators occasionally engaged in battles for fun, but their opponents were always individuals of equal standing.
They sought the thrill of battling worthy opponents, rather than trampling on the weak or being overpowered by the strong.
However, such events were rare, occurring perhaps once every few decades when they found a suitable match.
The rest of their time was obviously spent cultivating, as is typical for any true cultivator.
Their personalities were shaped from birth and further influenced by the long periods of cultivation.
The extended self-discipline did not lead to a warped mentality. Instead, it made their minds more tranquil.
A twisted mentality never develops in a cultivator because such individuals are fundamentally unsuited to the life of a cultivator.
The life of a cultivator is incredibly restrictive and devoid of freedom. They have no need for citizenship rights or any other such privileges because they often stay in one place for decades or centuries.
This lifestyle is completely contrary to that of a person with a twisted mentality, who needs someone to demonstrate their derangement to. The longest-lasting companion for a cultivator is the universe, not any living being.
Moreover, cultivators do not require food, drink, or social welfare, so their existence or non-existence has little impact on society during times of peace.
For these reasons, the Human Emperor and others had no need to worry about cultivators.
