Chapter 164: The Plan to Go Out
The obstacle Jun Wu Xiao faced, preventing him from breaking through, was not just a personal issue; it also had significant implications for human cultivators as a whole.
If the one leading couldn’t find a path forward, those who followed would have to fumble around blindly, not knowing how many more years that process might take.
He already had a plan in mind, so he said:
"I plan to invite you and Gu Zhou Jian to come with me to the capital city. I know that with my current state, following any particular direction is relatively pointless, so I think going out for a while, seeing more of the world, might give me an idea of what to do next."
Yue Guang didn’t see any problem with his decision and nodded, saying:
"You’re not wrong. The main flaw of cultivators is their extreme lack of experience with the outside world. For centuries, we’ve been secluding ourselves in cultivation, so in reality, we have very little life experience. Going out for a change isn’t a bad idea."
She thought for a moment before adding:
"The whole group hasn’t gathered in a long time, so why not take this opportunity to invite everyone to come along? After all, more minds thinking about it would be better than just one. Right now, everyone except Gu Zhou Jian can sense dark energy, so they can thing about it."
She wasn’t wrong, without knowing what dark energy looked like, it would be challenging to propose solutions to issues related to higher realms.
However, difficult didn’t mean impossible, so of course, he would invite Gu Zhou Jian.
"Alright, let’s do that then. We’ll invite everyone for a trip. Anyway, I don’t think it will take more than a few days. I don’t believe that even after a year, I still won’t be able to break through." Jun Wu Xiao said.
He had confidence in himself. He was sure that he would succeed soon, and what he lacked now was just an idea. As long as his friends could help him come up with an idea, he would successfully break through.
Yue Guang nodded, and then they split up to gather the group. She went to find Chen Wo Lun and Feng Shuang, while he went to find the other two.
At this moment, Jun Wu Xiao had arrived at Gu Zhou Jian’s place. Her appearance now resembled that of an old woman, but she wasn’t weak. After all, a peak Bone Forging Realm cultivator still had considerable strength.
Seeing her, he joked:
"Looking at you now, if I called you my grandmother, people would probably believe it."
Gu Zhou Jian, who was cultivating, heard his voice and immediately threw a punch in his direction. She snorted:
"Hmph, you old rascal. You’re more than two centuries older than me, and you have the nerve to call me your grandmother."
In terms of appearance, this ’little girl’ was actually the oldest in the group. Jun Wu Xiao commented:
"You should take a look at yourself, your hair has already turned gray. However, you’ve aged gracefully. It’s not too bad."
Hearing him repeatedly call her old irritated her. It wasn’t that she hated being old, but hearing it from someone over two centuries older than her felt a bit odd. She retorted:
"Stop talking nonsense. We haven’t seen each other in almost a hundred years. Why are you here now? Is there something wrong?"
Though she hadn’t spent much time with him, she knew enough to understand his habits.
Normally, he wouldn’t leave his secluded cultivation unless there was a significant reason. Jun Wu Xiao nodded and replied:
"I wanted to invite you to go out because it’s been a long time since we’ve done something to strengthen our bond."
Gu Zhou Jian found it hard to believe a single word of that, so she asked:
"You better speak seriously. If you keep talking nonsense, I’ll go back to my cultivation."
"Hey, hey, calm down. Why are you in such a hurry? Getting angry isn’t good for your health, especially at your age." he said, smiling.
Seeing his smile, she turned to leave without another word. He quickly blocked her path and said:
"Alright, I’m not joking anymore. I really want to take you out, but not just you; I’m inviting the whole group. I’ve hit a barrier that prevents me from breaking through to the next realm. I need to see the world to get some ideas. A group can think better than one person, so I’m using this opportunity to invite everyone along to help me brainstorm for a breakthrough."
Gu Zhou Jian frowned, she had never encountered or heard of such a barrier in cultivation before. She asked:
"What do you mean by a barrier? I’ve never heard of it."
Jun Wu Xiao explained:
"I don’t know exactly either. In the past, I would break through just by cultivating, so I never understood what a barrier was. I’m calling it a barrier for simplicity, but it’s more like my old methods have reached their limit, and I need to find a new way to go beyond that."
Although she didn’t fully understand, Gu Zhou Jian nodded because she hadn’t yet sensed the existence of dark energy. She said:
"Alright then, let’s go. Are you carrying me, or am I going on my own?"
Her speed was decent, but it was nothing compared to these old monsters. Jun Wu Xiao knew this, so he nodded and said:
"Alright, then I’ll carry my grandmother."
Without hesitation, she swung a punch at his face. However, with the overwhelming difference in their realms, he didn’t even bother dodging.
As her fist neared his face, she softened the blow, not because she was afraid of hurting him, but because she knew that hitting harder would only make her hand hurt more.
"Hmph, from now on, you’re not allowed to call me that. You used to call me a little girl, and now you’re calling me a grandmother. Truly, you’re an old man with no shame." she snorted but still allowed him to carry her.
He chuckled and replied:
"Alright, but calling you a little girl is truly shameless. You’re over a hundred years old and act like you’re still that young maiden from back then."
"I am shameless? The truth is, I’m always going to be more than two hundred years younger than you, so there’s nothing wrong with calling me a little girl." Gu Zhou Jian shamelessly said.
If it were anyone else, calling her a little girl would indeed be an issue. However, Jun Wu Xiao and his friends were all born even before her grandfather.
