Chapter 155: Explode
Gu Zhou Jian followed Tang Hao down the underground passage. As they descended, the heavy metal door closed behind them, locking them inside the subterranean base. The air inside was cool, in stark contrast to the heat outside.
Tang Hao led her to a room filled with screens displaying live information from the battlefield above. He pointed to a chair and said:
"Sit here and observe. This place is fortified, so we are safe."
Gu Zhou Jian sat down, her eyes scanning the screens. From this vantage point, she could see Jun Wu Xiao sitting on the ground. The place was clearly designed to withstand something extremely powerful, so she asked:
"Is this place built to withstand a nuclear bomb? I remember that those aren’t allowed to be used because they have such a terrible impact on the environment."
Tang Hao nodded and replied:
"It can indeed withstand a nuclear bomb, but I never said I would use one. At most, I’ll use a thermobaric bomb, otherwise, the court would never forgive the Tang family."
Gu Zhou Jian nodded, realizing she was just rambling earlier. She knew that although Tang Hao liked her, he wouldn’t gamble his entire family on it.
At this moment, Tang Hao activated a button that sent a signal flare into the sky above the base. Jun Wu Xiao saw the flare and started moving forward.
He walked slowly, looking at the flat ground ahead and guessed:
"This must be a minefield, right? I don’t see any similar weapons around here. Moreover, there’s a plane flying back and forth above, probably intending to drop bombs if the mines can’t kill me."
He looked straight ahead and continued walking, chuckling to himself:
"Oh, it seems like my outfit won’t withstand the bombs. Well, whatever, if it gets damaged, I’ll just find something else to wear."
With that, he confidently walked straight into the minefield. Tang Hao, seeing Jun Wu Xiao’s fearless demeanor, smiled. He thought:
"Good, good, keep going like that. A little further, and I’ll blow you to pieces."
As soon as Jun Wu Xiao stepped into the detonation zone, Tang Hao immediately triggered hundreds of mines simultaneously.
The thunderous explosion echoed, and Jun Wu Xiao couldn’t completely avoid it, thus he was affected by the blast. Although he couldn’t dodge entirely, he managed to cover his ears, so his eardrums weren’t too severely damaged.
Now, both Tang Hao and Gu Zhou Jian could only see a thick cloud of smoke and dust, obscuring everything inside. After a long moment, the dust gradually settled, and the two of them saw on the screen the silhouette of a robust man with no clothes on.
But this wasn’t what shocked Tang Hao. What truly astounded him was that the man’s body didn’t have a single scratch. Tang Hao, startled, thought:
"Impossible, impossible. How could this be? This isn’t right, I need to drop the bomb immediately."
He immediately ordered the pilot to drop the massive thermobaric bomb onto the ground.
Jun Wu Xiao had been observing the sky all this time. When he saw the bomb falling, a sense of danger arose within him. He thought:
"This isn’t good, I can’t take this head-on, I need to get far away from here."
Then he used all his speed to run away, and a few seconds later, the bomb finally detonated. The terrifying explosion created a column of smoke several miles high, generating a devastating shockwave that flattened everything in its path.
Fortunately, Jun Wu Xiao was relatively fast, having managed to run about twenty miles away, so he wasn’t too severely affected.
Looking at the horrifying explosion before him, Jun Wu Xiao thought:
"Ha ha ha, good. This isn’t even the strongest weapon of human. In a short time, humanity will surely be able to survive and overcome difficulties."
Meanwhile, the families in the nearby area were in chaos:
"What the hell is going on? An earthquake?"
"No, the Tang family just detonated a large thermobaric bomb."
"Damn it, why did they have to set off that thing? Scared me half to death, thought something terrible was happening."
"How should I know? Maybe they have too much money and decided to burn some for fun."
.....
There were no casualties, but they still felt the shock from the explosion because what Tang Hao used wasn’t a small bomb.
At this moment, Tang Hao and Gu Zhou Jian were observing the screen, but they couldn’t see Jun Wu Xiao anywhere. They changed several viewpoints within a range of tens of miles and finally spotted him in a place about twenty miles away.
Tang Hao’s face could no longer remain calm. He looked at Gu Zhou Jian and asked:
"How could he get there? He didn’t use any tricks or anything, that was his sheer strength. Tell me quickly, who is he really? I’m sure he’s not just a Bone Forging Realm cultivator."
Gu Zhou Jian, seeing that Tang Hao finally asked about this issue, said:
"He is indeed not a Bone Forging Realm cultivator but an early-stage Energy Gathering Realm cultivator. His specific identity is the strongest Guardian God of humanity."
At this point, Tang Hao was even more stunned. He thought:
"Wait a minute, if he’s a Guardian God, he must be over two hundred years old. But you and him, with such a huge age difference, can still develop a romantic relationship?"
The more he thought about it, the more confused he became, so he decided to ask:
"What exactly is your relationship with him? Does the age difference not matter?"
Gu Zhou Jian, seeing that Tang Hao seemed to misunderstand, explained:
"It’s not exactly the kind of relationship you’re thinking of. To put it simply, you can consider us equals. You know full well that I’m not like ordinary people, right? So how could you expect a human-like romantic relationship with me?"
Tang Hao sighed deeply and said:
"Haiz, I lost. I lost before I even started. I love you, perhaps because you’re not like other girls, not even like ordinary people. My mistake was hoping for a human-like love with someone who looks human but isn’t. You are like them—call it gods if you want to be poetic, or call it crazy if you want to be blunt because you aren’t like ordinary people."
Tang Hao now accepted the truth. In fact, he had understood the truth for a long time but had always deceived himself. He knew from the beginning that the future held no results, but he tried to cling to what he imagined to be right.
