Chapter 483: 0483 Shamelessly_1
Disbelieving as they were, the bystanders couldn’t produce proof.
Nonetheless, there was a sense that something wasn’t right, as if Theodore Hailey was playing them for fools.
Even though the ID was cancelled, Theodore Hailey wasn’t entirely at ease.
Andalu said that slandering was no small matter, as this was like throwing mud on a future pillar of society, and they should report it to the police.
Based on the information provided by the forum, only one person could be investigated, and that was Ryan Henderson. Firstly, he was abroad and a valued genius, definitely not someone who could be extradited. The only detail available about the person who proposed the theory was a phone number, with no other information.
This lack of information made Theodore Hailey feel somewhat uneasy.
Despite her unease, throughout the turmoil online, Ellen wasn’t in a hurry at all. She was waiting for news from Clinton White and even received a call from Ruffy Smith.
The date yesterday had been very pleasant, and today he called to ask what Ellen was doing. His father’s birthday was in two days, and by all accounts, Ellen should have been idle in Imperial City during this period.
Ellen hadn’t mentioned the issue with Theodore Hailey to Ruffy Smith, considering it an insignificant matter. She simply told him, "I’m still watching videos about AI."
Ruffy Smith laughed in a deep voice, "You really are serious..."
As he spoke, faint noises of a commotion could be heard in the background, and suddenly Ruffy’s voice trailed off, as if he had heard something disturbing and had lost his voice.
Ellen expressed mild surprise, "It sounds quite noisy there?"
Ruffy Smith responded, "Just a small matter."
There was a chilly undertone in his words, indicating his displeasure; even talking to Ellen, he seemed unable to fully contain it.
Ellen sensed this and naturally asked, "What happened?"
"..." There was probably a few seconds of hesitation before Ruffy Smith spoke, "About the incident your sister had in the hospital, it involves that crazy woman’s grandfather we ran into."
Ellen suddenly remembered and realized, "Ah, Roxanne Moore, Mr. James Moore’s granddaughter."
Ruffy Smith was somewhat chagrined, "Why would you bother to remember her name?"
He considered such a madwoman an insult to Ellen, and yet, he had just heard this madwoman’s name from Ellen’s lips.
He felt it completely defiled Ellen.
Ellen laughed softly, "What about her? Didn’t she get sent to a hospital for treatment?"
Speaking of this matter seemed to infuriate Ruffy Smith, "It’s James Moore—"
"You should still call him Mr. Moore; he is your elder and was once a distinguished figure," Ellen countered softly. Even though Ruffy Smith was unwilling, he calmed down, his voice cool and heavy, "Yes, because of him. His granddaughter caused a scene about committing suicide before which I ignored, and now she has attempted it again and is in the hospital claiming she has to marry me. My dad would certainly not bother with such a lunatic, and James Moore— I don’t know if he’s really afraid of losing his granddaughter, but he actually came to beg my dad. He said that the least I could do was pretend and deceive his granddaughter for appearances. I wouldn’t agree to it, and he even threatened to kneel before my dad. Ellen, can you believe it? For a granddaughter who isn’t even related by blood, has he gone mad?"
Ruffy Smith’s words weren’t directed at Roxanne Moore; rather, there was a sense of pathetic mournfulness for Mr. James Moore.
In his youth, he had been a distinguished figure, and to think that in his old age he would go to such insane lengths for a granddaughter.
By now, the whole Imperial City was abuzz with the incident. Others could not persuade him, but how could the Smith Family give in to him?
