Chapter 471: 0471 didn’t expect him to be a gentleman_1

Upon reaching the cinema, since it was a private screening, the vast cinema hall was occupied by just the two of them.

Ruffy Smith had chosen a romance film reputed for its healing qualities.

It wasn’t that he specifically selected this piece, but after determining that it was the most popular at the time and considering the other options were duds...

The film was foreign, but coincidentally, the background shared some similarities with Ellen Young’s life story.

The female lead was just an ordinary college student who was accidentally lost by her parents as a child. After growing up and being helped to return home, she discovered that her family had adopted another girl to fill her place.

Of course, the parents weren’t the despicable type found in real life; the film mainly portrayed the female lead’s efforts to bond with her awkward and unfamiliar parents in their home, ultimately accepting them and finding true love—a story of healing.

With its refreshing story background, and considering the lack of other good movies recently, this film enjoyed both critical acclaim and box office success.

Such series films are rarely produced abroad, and Ellen Young hadn’t seen one before. If she allowed herself to become immersed, this film would leave her with a good impression.

By the time it ended, the story concluded with a grand happy ending: the female lead and the adopted sister became best friends, accepting their parents and living happily together with her boyfriend—a perfect life conclusion.

Throughout the movie, Ruffy Smith remained very quiet, respecting Ellen Young’s viewing experience, until after it ended, that’s when Ellen heard a faint magnetic voice by her side, "How did you find it?"

"Not bad."

This being her first time at the cinema, Ellen chose to describe it as, "A very heartwarming story, and the ending was perfect."

She didn’t project herself onto the character. Having known what the Wood Family was like, she gave up on them early because with no expectations, there wouldn’t be any disappointment.

The reason why films are films is because their endings can be controlled.

Reality is often far more complex.

The movie ended right around midnight. Seeing that she seemed content with the date, Ruffy Smith was pleased and offered, "I’ll drive you home."

Glancing at the time, Ellen suggested, "It’s quite late now; Damien Frost and the others will take me back. Maybe you should just head straight home to the Smith Family?"

The location of the cinema was indeed quite close to where Ellen lived. In reality, it didn’t matter where she lived; she had a house regardless.

Ruffy Smith insisted, "Let me take you. It wouldn’t be proper to let you go home alone after our first date."

Ellen: "You’re not taking Damien and the others into account like this. I don’t think they’d be pleased."

Ruffy Smith chuckled.

Indeed, Damien and co. had been coerced into watching the film too.

The team was complaining, "I thought given Ruffy’s personality, he’d pick some horror movie to scare Miss Young, as it’s a common tactic you read about online. But for him to act so gentlemanly was unexpected."

After pondering for a moment, Damien’s lips curled into a faint smile: "I can’t even imagine Miss Young being scared."

The others thought about it and realized—they truly couldn’t envisage it.

As they recalled, Miss Young was always composed and calm, sometimes becoming more amiable and outgoing when with others, but scared? That was absolutely impossible.

Ruffy Smith likely knew this too, which is why he didn’t resort to any such underhanded strategies.

After all, a good first impression is most important on a first date.

He wasn’t about to shoot himself in the foot.
