Chapter 455: 0455 Voice_1

Ruffy Smith had full confidence in himself.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have boldly pursued someone.

Now that Ellen Young seemed to have taken a liking to him, it proved that his pursuit was reasonable.

When Taylor Smith saw his demeanor, he knew that Ruffy was reveling in his recent success. He might float on cloud nine for a while, so he decided to give him a nudge, "It’s your business that you’ve won her over, but you still need to handle your own responsibilities. Next month, you’re going to France to negotiate a deal. It’ll take at least half a month, so you figure it out."

Upon hearing it would take half a month, Ruffy immediately pouted, "Why does it have to take half a month?"

"The Stewarts have always been tough to deal with. If you can close the deal on your own, then those people at the shareholders meeting won’t keep blabbing nonsense. This collaboration is crucial, and my estimate is half a month. If you can wrap it up sooner, even I, as your father, will admire you. It’s only half a month, what are you worried about? That she might run away? You just said you were worthy of her; now you’re not confident in yourself?"

Ruffy let out a slightly cold huff through his nose but didn’t reply.

Taylor Smith gave him a glance with a smile, shook his head, and left the room first.

In the evening, after taking care of his work at the Imperial City Smith Group headquarter, Ruffy pushed his laptop aside and rubbed his nose.

He had been focused on his work, though thoughts of Ellen Young occasionally distracted him, but losing focus was of no use, as the endless work only delayed him further.

Now that he was almost done, he checked the time—it was nine in the evening.

Great, Ellen definitely wasn’t asleep yet.

He sent Ellen a message, and after waiting a minute with no reply, Ruffy fell silent before sending a voice message.

Having received the WhatsApp notification, Ellen quickly answered. Her voice came through, clear and calm like a crisp bell, "What’s up?"

It had a slightly husky quality, as if she had just come from somewhere.

Ruffy’s eyebrows lifted slightly, pleasure spreading through him at the sound of Ellen’s voice, an involuntary smile curling his lips, "Did I disturb you?"

"No, I was just changing Blackie’s dog food."

After she finished speaking, and perhaps because Blackie heard his name, there was barking over the cellphone.

Ruffy said, "Why are you always changing the dog food? Can’t he finish it all at once?"

"He doesn’t really like dog food much; he often leaves it, and it goes bad."

Blackie usually joined Ellen for her meals, so most of the time, Blackie ate very little dog food. Of course, even the dog food was high-quality, but it couldn’t compare to the flavor of Ellen’s cooking.

Mentioning food reminded Ruffy of what he missed. Thinking of Ellen’s culinary skills, he licked his lips, "I miss the food you cook."

Back at the Smith Family, the chef’s cooking was actually quite good, but it simply couldn’t match the taste of Ellen’s dishes.

Surprisingly, even though he had only enjoyed it a few times, it seemed like Ellen’s cooking had spoiled his palate.

Ellen said, "You could learn to cook for yourself. Cooking is quite a straightforward task."

Ruffy: "..."

He chuckled, tapping his slender fingers on the desktop with a rhythmic knock-knock, "I just want to eat the food you cook..."

There was a knock on the door of Ruffy’s office, which was a private space but transparent at the moment. Someone came to deliver work documents and, upon seeing Ruffy on the phone, was struck by the unusually sweet smile on the face of the notoriously unyielding young master—it was quite blinding.

Dazzling as it may be, the knocking was necessary.

Bracing themselves for his response, they knocked, and as expected, saw Ruffy’s gaze turn icy as it shot their way.
