Chapter 436: 0436 Confession_1
"Mmm..."
That hum sounded like it came from his nose, carrying a sexy, husky tone.
However, one could also tell that his nasal voice was somewhat heavy.
It wasn’t that he had a cold, but rather his voice had changed a bit from drinking too much.
When it came through the phone, Ellen felt her cellphone vibrate.
A peculiar tremor.
His voice was always very pleasant to listen to.
She paused, then said, "Is something the matter?"
After a moment of thought, she even took the initiative to ask, "I heard your dad called you back because of Roxanne Moore, Mr. James Moore’s granddaughter?"
Ruffy didn’t think Ellen was the nosy type; it must have been Damien who told her.
People like them always dug up every possible detail.
Thinking about it now, Ruffy still felt unbearably irritated. He "mmm"ed again, but this time with a hint of annoyance, and not wanting to involve Ellen, he lowered his voice, sounding somewhat weary, "It was a trick from my dad to get me back. I don’t know the Moore family at all."
Perhaps he had met Mr. Moore before, but it wasn’t as if he was a particularly important person; he had long forgotten him, let alone the man’s granddaughter.
His voice sounded off, and Ellen wasn’t sure if she had misheard because she had taken calls from Ruffy before. After thinking for a bit, she asked, "Have you been drinking?"
Ruffy: "..."
It took him quite a while before he slowly said, "Yeah, some buddies invited me out tonight, and considering I haven’t seen them for a few months, I decided to join."
He somewhat sounded like he was voluntarily explaining his actions and after thinking for a while, he added dryly, "Just drinking."
"Oh..."
Ellen simply said "oh," and a faint awkwardness permeated between them.
That "oh" signified she understood and had no intention of probing further.
At this moment, she was sitting barefoot at the edge of her bed while Blackie waltzed in, wagging his tail and rubbing against the back of her foot.
Although a bit unaccustomed, Blackie was often forced by her to take baths and had developed a clean habit, always wiping his paws on the doormat when he came in, so she didn’t stop Blackie’s excessive affection.
The puppy’s body was fluffy, and she noticed that Blackie’s body had grown bigger compared to a few months ago, his face a bit longer too.
He looked a bit like those mixed-breed wolf dogs from the countryside.
Blackie rolled over, hoping Ellen would pat his belly. Just as she was bending down, she suddenly heard Ruffy’s deep voice, "I want to ask you again, can you really not give me a chance? Even if after trying you find it unsatisfactory and choose to leave me, that’d be fine..."
People really do lose their wits when they drink.
If he were sober, the words he uttered would have been measured for their humility.
He would have meticulously planned some surprises and confessed seriously once more.
Now, however it was viewed, it seemed somewhat careless.
Yet Ellen paused for a moment.
Her hand, which was touching Blackie, slowly retracted.
Blackie, seeing her retract her hand, barked twice.
[Don’t like it?]
She should have rejected him right away, but considering certain things that happened recently, along with that incomprehensible dream, she felt she suddenly couldn’t utter the words.
Since she couldn’t speak up, she should at least have an answer.
Maybe it wouldn’t hurt to give it a try?
After all, she hadn’t been in a relationship before, but she also knew that if she really didn’t like him, her current situation with Ruffy wasn’t good either.
She had no answer for ten seconds, and just as the person on the other end’s heart began to sink, she heard that calm, shallow voice: "Okay."
