Chapter 435: 0435 phone call_1
In the haze of smoke, the man in the black shirt had a face that was shockingly, disturbingly beautiful.
There was a mirror opposite him that perfectly reflected Ruffy Smith’s face.
He just lifted his eyelids for a quick glance, and right now he was drunk, already a bit blurry.
His thoughts were a mess, and he wasn’t one for narcissism, but upon seeing that face in the mirror, he couldn’t help but mockingly pat his own cheek.
Everyone said he was good-looking, yet it wasn’t good enough, or else why couldn’t he even deceive one person.
She never cared for his face; it was utterly useless.
His head was spinning a bit; they say people think nonsense when they’re drunk—now he was probably doing just that, thinking too much.
He had persisted for several months now, and in the interactions with Ellen Young, though infrequent, he could sense that Ellen didn’t dislike him.
But the odd thing about Ellen was that she hardly disliked anyone, unless she didn’t care for them; otherwise, she wouldn’t shoo you away, no matter how cheeky you were around her.
Like Lucy Wood.
Even though Lucy was her sister.
But to Ellen, it was all the same.
Indeed, when someone’s drunk, their brain isn’t too clear, and Ruffy began to think of the time when Ellen was drunk.
He thought of when she demanded that he solve problems with her face flushed red, a look of stern seriousness, leaving a significant mark in his heart that made Ruffy want to laugh as he remembered it now.
The laughter echoed through the corridor, and the bodyguards who heard it exchanged concerned glances.
Could it be that the young master was going crazy all of a sudden?
Why else would he laugh to himself for no reason?
Whether he was going insane or not, they couldn’t tell; Ruffy, being drunk and muddled, also felt bolder.
He took out his cellphone, and stared silently at Ellen Young’s number for about three minutes.
Her name was at the very top of his contact list, always the first one, even his father was just ordered around haphazardly by the system.
Even on WhatsApp, she was pinned at the top.
He loved her, truly, madly, deeply.
Otherwise, at the age of twenty-two, he wouldn’t have been so impulsive. For some people, once they commit, it’s a lifetime’s affair.
No one knows the future, but now all he could think about was wanting to be with her.
After three minutes, with a tap of his slender fingers, he still pressed "call."
Normally, his mind was clear, but now it was confused, and his heart was beating abnormally fast.
Because usually, he would at least find some excuse to talk to Ellen, but at this moment, he didn’t know what excuse to use; it seemed like he was just idly bothering Ellen without any real purpose.
If she was busy, she wouldn’t answer the call.
For a moment, Ruffy hoped she was busy, yet he hoped she wasn’t.
After around three rings, just when Ruffy thought she wouldn’t answer, the call connected.
"Hello?"
The voice was soft and light, slightly low, as if in some open space, sounding somewhat echoey.
Upon hearing her voice, his heart felt as if it was being clawed at. He swallowed hard, his heavy breathing audible, failing to respond in time.
It was as if his sense of feeling was amplified in his drunken state.
When he didn’t respond, Ellen asked with some curiosity, "Why aren’t you speaking, is there something you need from me?"
She had just finished bathing and come out, Ruffy’s call was quite timely.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t have picked up.
