Chapter 382: 0382 Troublesome Son_1
Back then, Doggy used to look at him unfavorably, but now, in such a short period of time, it had turned traitor.
But this also showed that Doggy regarded him as half its master.
Thinking of this, he felt pleased and generously rubbed Blackie’s belly a few times.
Until Ellen’s voice came from the inside, "You’re going to help."
There was simply too much stuff; it was impossible for her to handle everything by herself.
Even if Ruffy didn’t know how to cook, he could always wash vegetables and help with chopping, right?
Ruffy paused for a moment. At home, he was used to keeping his fingers clean from household work, but here, Ellen’s request seemed so natural, and he found himself without the slightest thought of objection.
He clicked his tongue lightly and walked over.
The kitchen and the living room were an open concept design: here’s the living room, there’s the kitchen—very minimalist and stylish.
He washed his hands first, then hesitantly looked at the pile of groceries on the table, "What should I do?"
Ellen flipped out a tablet and showed him a video, "Learn from this."
It was a vegetable chopping video.
Ruffy: "..."
Blackie also wagged its tail and followed, seeing Ruffy start to busy himself in the kitchen, it rubbed against Ellen’s feet, hoping to get petted by her.
After being briefly rubbed on the belly earlier, it felt it still needed to enjoy more.
Ellen, occupied and her voice clear and melodious, said, "Go play by yourself, I need to cook."
Upon hearing this, Blackie wagged its tail again—it seemed to understand—and ran off to find Michael.
Michael, who had asked Ruffy a question and received no reply earlier, looked down at Blackie when it came over and asked again, "Have you eaten?"
Blackie didn’t understand and just looked up at Michael before barking twice.
Besides Michael’s occasional mechanized voice, only the quiet atmosphere of the kitchen could be heard in the living room.
When Ruffy wanted to talk to Ellen, Taylor’s phone call broke the silence. He asked Ruffy over the phone, "What are you doing right now, where are you?"
Ruffy glanced at the fresh vegetables in his hands and said indifferently, "Chopping vegetables."
Taylor: "..."
It was as if he had heard something utterly fantastical, or as if he hadn’t heard clearly. He hastily asked, "Say that again?"
Ruffy, slightly annoyed, repeated, "Washing vegetables and getting ready to cook."
Taylor: "..."
It was like red rain was about to fall from the sky, a sort of end-of-the-world horror, "You can cook?!"
So much so that even he, as a father, seemed surprisingly unable to accept this.
Ruffy scoffed without replying.
Taylor continued, "I received a message, someone saw you with Ellen at the supermarket just now, is that true?"
Taylor had never imagined Ruffy and Ellen’s relationship could have progressed to such a level.
It’s just that lately, he had been staying in the countryside without returning home, and Taylor had his suspicions, but he didn’t think too deeply about it.
Receiving this news all of a sudden, of course, shocked Taylor.
Taylor had indeed thought about encouraging his son to pursue Ellen, but realistically, he didn’t have high hopes for Ruffy; setting aside Ellen’s indifferent nature, his son was not the type that Ellen would be interested in.
"If you’ve already received the news, why bother asking such redundant questions?"
Knife in hand, Ruffy mimicked the unsteady chopping from the video while speaking on the phone, "I thought you would have received the news earlier. Seems like you’re not up to speed anymore, Dad."
Taylor: "..."
You’re the one who’s not up to speed, this troublesome son.
